RiceSelect Whole Grain Royal Blend with Wild Rice, Brown, 28 Oz, 4 Count

I wish I could buy this rice blend in my local store. RiceSelect Royal Blend rice is for those of us who like flavorful mixed grains, with the firmer consistency only possible with long cook rice. The nutrition in this grain combo is phenomenal and the taste is fabulous. I buy the 4 jar package and it comes out cheaper than if I could actually talk my grocer into carrying it. The flavors complement a gumbo, spanish rice, a bacon/ham and pecan casserole, or anything with a stronger flavor even oriental and indian dishes. For milder dishes like Indian Butter Chicken, you might like your regular white, basmati, or jasmine rices, although I generally use these whole grains for almost everything. Jars were package very well, packed for shipping very well, and shipped promptly. Rice lovers will love this product.

I've been eating Nishiki (?) jasmine white rice for many years, and thought I'd try this as it is healthier. I was very pleasantly surprised - it tasted great. I was concerned it wouldn't cook properly in my programmable Zojirushi 3 cup rice cooker but it comes out great on both the regular and quick cooking settings. (I haven't tried it in my bigger neurofuzzy cooker but assume it would be as good or better). It does seem a little more sensitive to amount of water than regular white rice - adding too much makes it mushier. I think it's the wheat and rye berries that make it delicious, so getting the brown/wild rice mix at Whole Foods and mixing in some wheat and rye berries would probably be just as tasty and less expensive.

This whole grain wild rice blend has great flavor and texture. I cook it using my Instant Pot with the "pot in pot" method. I put 1 cup of water in the bottom of the pot, put 1 rice measure (3/4 cup) of rice and 1 cup plus about 2 tablespoons of water in a 4-cup stainless steel bowl on the trivet in the Instant Pot, lock on the lid in the sealed position, and manually set for high pressure and 20 minutes. I allow the pot to naturally release the pressure, or if I am in a hurry, I can quick release after 5 minutes. This makes enough for 2 people and I can scale up for however many people I am serving.

A nice quality blend of wild rice. This is a well know brand and easy to find in most stores. The quantity is small, and it is also expensive. It has a good aromatic smell and versatility. We have used it in many recipes, and it has always come out with a nice color.

This whole grain brown rice mixed with wild rice is the perfect complement to certain foods like salmon. I like salmon, among other tasty fish and meat, and I eat salmon 4 days a week. So I include this rice blend with my menu on a regular basis. The rice can be cooked with a rice cooker in 40-50 minutes even with the wild rice included. No prior soaking is necessary. For anyone who needs an easy to use cooker with brown rice and other options, I would recommend the Aroma digital rice cooker with the push buttons that include one for brown rice. If you like this blend, you can get it on a subscription basis from Amazon. No need to search around for it.

I am addicted to this rice blend!! As with most rice, I use less water than the recommended amount because I like my rice fluffier. Also, resist the temptation to lift the lid to check on your rice during cooking, and allow it to stand the full 10 minutes for best results. I eat a big bowl of this with a little butter and a generous amount of Green Tabasco~ an absolutely yummy way to bump up your fiber input (for proper "output". Lol).

This is a rice blend! When it arrived I learned it has wheat in it! I can't eat wheat! Now I find out it can't be returned! What a waste of money! No one in my family or extended family can eat wheat!
