Parents choice!
One of our favorite games! I like that this game involves strategy while also being simple and relatively quick. We like this game for playing after the kids go to bed. This one is nice because while you do have to think through your moves, it’s easy enough to just try you best and still have fun. We could also see this as a great choice for our kids as they get older-great homeschool opportunity! Lots of rule options to make the game different. Overall a beautiful and great game!

New Favorite Game!
I absolutely love this game. First, it’s gorgeous. The quality and feel of the components is top tier and the artwork is beautiful. I also love that there is educational information included about the environment and species in the instructions. Second, the pacing of the game can be slow in the beginning as you’re learning the mechanics and best strategies, but will play quickly as you’re used to it. It’s challenging enough to keep you engaged but simple enough to not be too overwhelming. Great for adults and even kids as young as 9 or 10. My 9yo hasn’t played it yet, but I think he’ll like it, especially since he enjoys Carcassonne. The game lasts around 30-45 minutes. The replay ability is high as each time you play, the requirements to scoring changes. Plus, there’s solo play instructions included. The box is compact for easy storage. Highly recommend! Looking forward to the expansions.

An Excellent Nature Game for Fans of Azul, Carcassonne, or Wingspan
I bought this game for my family for Christmas and we have played it about a dozen times so far! We play a lot of board games in my family and this game feels like a mixture of Carcassonne, Wingspan, and Azul. In the game you select pairs of habitat tiles and animal tokens. Your objective is to play these to make a continuous environment and place in whatever way maximizes your score. You score is based on the size of each of the five biomes (mountains, river, forest, marsh, and plains) and you score your wildlife based on their configuration compared to the five wildlife cards you draw at the start of the game. Overall, this game is very fun and has surprisingly deep strategy. I would not call it educational (especially when compared to a game like Wingspan), but it does make one appreciate nature more. Games tend to run anywhere from twenty to forty minutes, and there is excellent replay value. Aesthetically, the game is quite good looking. The different habitats result in a colorful board and the arrangement of wildlife tokens adds to this color. In terms of learning, the game is surprisingly simple. I would say that it is no more difficult to learn than a game like Carcassonne. Overall, this is a great entry level board game which most people can enjoy.

The best "gateway" strategy game since Splendor, fantastic for families with kids as young as 8
I tend to lean toward the "heavier" side of strategy games, things like Everdell, Terra Mystica, Castles of Burgundy, and Voyages of Marco Polo. However, sometimes you just want a fun, easy to play game that has just enough strategy to keep you interested, without jarring the sensibilities of the less "hardcore" players. In the past, Splendor was my go-to game of this kind, but I am ecstatic to add Cascadia into the mix. It's a fantastic blend of fast, easy to learn playability, with just enough strategy to keep things interesting. The core strategies are simple -- form an arrangement of animals in a pattern to score points, while attempting to match (as best as possible) the terrain types to maximize bonus scoring. The minor mechanic that lets you alter the basic tile/animal selection (the pine cone "bonus" tiles) is just perfect for adding a little bit more strategy without radically altering the core. Our family loves it. My 9 and 11 year-olds enjoy the theme with the wildlife and animals, and the overall strategy is clear to them (even if they are still learning the nuances). The parts are well made; the terrain tiles and animal tokens are a nice, thick cardstock. The bag, box, and storage are compact and easy to manage. I suspect over time this will be a game ripe for expansions, as I can see perhaps after 25+ plays that you might want more variety in animals, terrain, and scoring options. But even out of the box you're getting a fantastic game at a very good price, one that's absolutely worth having in your collection.

For Wingspan fans that want a quicker, simpler option for parties
If you enjoy Wingspan, you’ll want to pick up Cascadia. Simple, quick, and fun. Unlike Wingspan, it’s really easy to pick up & learn, or teach to a willing learner. A 3 min YouTube video was all we needed, and the occasional reference to the instruction booklet they provide. My wife & I primarily play 2 player matches and our games last 45-70 mins (we’re on the slower side). For 4 player games, we implement a 2 min timer for each turn to keep it moving.

Great game for both solo or multiplayer
I started board gaming a few months ago and Cascadia was one of the first games I wanted to buy. I ended up choosing Harmonies (which I love) instead because I was afraid they were too similar. Recently I had a board game night and wanted something good for non-board gamers so I ordered this last minute. It's such a great game. It's simple to teach, but it's very puzzly. It went over well with my guests and since then I've been playing it solo. I find it very enjoyable both solo and with others. I was wrong about it being too similar to Harmonies. Yes, they have similar vibes - puzzly and animal themed - but they feel different enough to me to justify having both in my collection. I love this game for a cozy, puzzly break in my day. The tiles, tokens, and cards are all good quality. Very glad I got this game.

As fun as I was expecting it to be
Fun easy to play and remarkably deep strategy game. I'm a fan of the art and the complexity of the gameplay, games are easy to set and it can be play by all age groups, from pre teenagers to adults.

Good wind down game
Nice game and cool design. Tokens and pieces are nice quality. Gameplay is simple and easy. There is enough strategy is needed so that every game is different based on what is drawn, and the different animal cards adds to that. Although eagle scoring cards and end game solo tile discard to reach the amount turn your suppose to have can sometimes be a little confusing. Overall a easy going game that can be played solo our with friends.

Cascadia is a very good board game
Cascadia is a very good board game. I play it with my sons (ages 14 and 6), and all of us enjoy it a lot. I like that there are no dice — everything depends on your choices and decisions, which makes you really think. For my 6-year-old, it was especially fun to see the immediate results: when you place an animal, you instantly see how many points you score. The game components are excellent: high quality, pleasant to the touch, and beautifully illustrated. I would recommend Cascadia especially for players who already have some experience with board games, since you need to understand the rules and mechanics to fully enjoy it.

Cascadia
I bought this for my mum, and it is now one of her favourite games. It is easy to set up and play, with added challenges due to the different animal goal cards. The game is fairly simple to understand, too. However, personally, I find it to be relatively expensive for what it is, so I would recommend waiting for a discount.

Really Good Game - Pros & Cons
Pros: - Lovely looking game. Great art and lots of colour. - Turns should be relatively quick and the game keeps moving. - Simple to play but enough strategy for experienced tabletop gamers to play again and again. - Pretty simple to learn with a Youtube video and casually checking the rule book (short and clear). - Lots of ways to score. Increases playability and everyone can win with a different style. - Left us wanting to play again and improve. - Able to be simplified to play with kids (included in box). - It’s just really enjoyable to play. Building your own ecosystem is a pleasure; even if I lose, I can enjoy placing each tile and animal and feeling like I’m making progress. - While sometimes being able to limit other players choices (a fun strategy), players are able to have influence over what options they have through earned tokens. We found this a great feature that keeps you from feeling helpless. - Play time is great; gets you into the game but you don’t feel like its dragging. - Quality tiles and pieces, like the cloth bag. - Has loads of expansion potential which I’m sure we’ll see in the coming years. - The creators care about the theme, and it shows. The rulebook has some interesting information about each landscape and animal which is a bonus, especially with kids. Cons: - Players who over-analyze every play will make the game a lot less enjoyable. - Not much of a conversational game. I could see a future expansion that adds elements of interaction between players. I definitely recommend it.
