I have a receiver going to the hdmi input and output going to tv and projector how can I get arc to work on my smart tv currently no sound but picture

No, this will not transfer ARC in this setup.

HDMI cables will work regardless of version, just older cables may not be able to transmit video at the same frame rate. But newer version cables will work with older devices. The higher version cable will NOT make an older version hardware perform better.

I bought the 402a for my Nvidia shield tv and my Roku4 to extract the Dolby 5.1 to my old reaciver but the signal still prologic , i try all setup
