For the price it's a good deal, the quality of the metal isn't the same as even astro or especially the tool truck stuff (this is a bit on the softer side) but it is more than adequate. What can you really expect for the price? This is well under 100 dollars and the matco equivalent is around 800-1200 depending on the kit. I have abused this kit right off the bat using heavy duty impact guns, doing 8 Honda and toyota wheel bearings and 2 Honda trailing arm bushings all in the span of a week. It also provides enough sizes that I would say unless you're working on semi stuff and maybe some larger diesel applications you should be covered with something to fit. My only suggestions would be to get some extra washers from Ace hardware, perhaps a bit harder steel then the ones that come with it. I am using the washers the kit comes with but they're severely deformed at this point, they end up being sacrificial since this kit doesn't use any sort of bearing to apply pressure to when turning. Another important thing to remember is to keep the thread lubed. With all these things in mind this kit should serve the home diy or even mobile/ part time mechanic well.

Used this product to remove 30+ year old subframe bushings that are pressed in and extremely rusty, with some additional help form a blow torch and a 3/8 breaker bar, it made quick work of an otherwise painful job. All of the kits pieces are exceptionally robust, I had no issues with the threads stripping or wearing (like other reviews I've seen). Assembly is quick and easy, the bolt is even pre lubricated. There are plenty of sizes to fit practically every automotive application. The case is a bit flimsy, I did end up breaking it after I dropped it by my own fault, it is only plastic holding a lot of carbon steel pieces. To me this is a non issue, between the two bolts that are supplied you can carry all of the pieces on them for storage and minimize space taken up by the case. One thing I do wish was better is the length of the sleeves, I had reached full travel before the bushing bottomed out on the other side of the sleeve and used a rubber mallet for the rest

It works,.but before you use it you will need a 1-16" socket on 1/2 drive with an impact to use this. If you wanna do this by hand with a ratchet and wrench then its no pain no gain. The washer must be replaced with anything else....these things are made of butter, shredded immediately. As for the bolts and nut,.make sure you put some kinda lube on the threads and run the nut completely up and down both to put actual lube on the entire thread vs the anti rust oil they come with on them......(NO WD-40, THATS NOT LUBE) Value is there instantly, harbor freight kit is $100+ and is only 21 piece and is the exact same quality. Minus a star for the washers shredding like paper but 4 starts because this baby worked and both my hubs and bearings are in.

Worked great at removing my wheel bearing. Had to use an impact gun per instructions because it was so difficult to remove. Makes a huge difference lubing the bolt to make the job easier. Well made and strong. Good value as well.

Perfect for removing rear cartridge wheel bearings on a 1995 bmw e34

This was my first time replacing wheel bearings, so I wasn't prepared for how difficult the job would actually be. Some useful information to know: the large bolt that goes through the puller is 1-1/16" and the nut that threads onto it is 1-1/4". Be sure to have at least a 1-1/4" socket for this job and put some sort of lubricant or anti-seize on the bolt threads. Also, be prepared to do battle with the hub. Removing it required another special puller, which I rented from a parts store. It came out with the inner bearing race still pressed on, which took hours and a third special puller to remove. Back to the review. The manual that came with this puller has plenty of helpful diagrams showing how to set it up for bearing removal and installation, as well as hub installation. Once I had it set up to remove the old bearing, I got started with a two foot breaker bar on the puller nut and it got tight very fast. I ended up using a heavy duty pipe on the breaker bar to add an extra foot of leverage. Even with that, I used every ounce of strength I had. Installing the new bearing was much easier, but still labor intensive. Installing the hub into the bearing was even easier. I've removed and replaced three wheel bearings so far, and this tool is holding up well. There is a warning inside the case not to use an impact wrench, so I didn't. There are two large washers included in the kit that are quite damaged now, but still usable. I imagine they are meant to be expendable. The rest of the parts have some dings and dents, but are otherwise fine. I'm actually very impressed at how well everything held up given the extreme amounts of force involved. For anyone considering buying this kit for a DIY job, I would highly recommend it. I saved over $400 doing the job myself, and now that I have the tools and experience, I'll save even more next time.

TL/DR: Bushings and sleeves are a nice addition, sliding screws will strip out under the extreme force needed for some especially tight bearings. I bought this to press out/in the wheel bearing on a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The entire assembly was rusted, so this was a tough first test for it. Overall, it couldn't handle pressing out the old bearing, and I decided to hammer it out using one of the included bushings to hammer on, to avoid stripping the tool. That worked well. I thought it would have an easy time pushing the new bearing in, but it got it about 1/3rd of the way and then the sliding screw stripped out under the force from the impact wrench. Bearing didn't budge. I ended up just buying a used 20T shop press to complete my toolset and do it the right way. Pros: The included bushings and sleeves are very handy and can be used with a shop press. The sliding screws would probably hold up to lighter work and more easy-to-press bearings. Cons: If you are planning on this being your only method of pushing bearings, you will probably end up stripping the threads on the sliding screws. They don't hold up to the force needed for those more stubborn bearings. I would be less surprised if it stripped trying to press out a rusted-fast bearing, but mine stripped out pushing in the new bearing into the recently cleaned assembly. Save yourself the trouble and find yourself a 12 or 20T shop press.

Bought this after reading through the reviews of a few puller kits, and as this one seemed to have the best ratio of positive to negative experiences, I decided to give it a go. Needed to press out a 97mm rear bearing on a Mercedes Vito van, so the kit had its work cut out for it! On first look, the quality of the pieces was surprisingly decent for the price…well finished, and nicely packaged. In use, the component pieces worked very well and were sufficiently robust to do the job…couple of turns with a long breaker bar got the bearing moving, and then wound it out the rest of the way with a long handled ratchet. Everything worked exactly as it should, with no issues apart from the washers being a little soft as others have mentioned…although despite being a bit marred from the nut, they would go again fine! As far as the main bolt thread quality is concerned, there isn’t a mark on it and all the threads are still perfect so I would be willing to bet the bad reviews of this component are down to the user ignoring the clear instructions to not use an impact gun…user error basically! Using hand tools as directed, it’s more than up to the task! For a home DIY spanner monkey, I’d happily recommend this set to anyone considering it…it’s a fraction of the price of a ‘professional’ version, but performs its task very well. 5 stars

Bought this tool set for replacing front wheel bearings on a 2003 vw jetta. The set worked perfectly, no complaints, all the correct size discs were included in the set to complete my job. This tool requires a 27mm socket or wrench for head of the removal bolt, and a 32mm for the large coupler that you turn to apply pressure. No complaints quality seems good, and it has paid for itself in thia one job alone.
