Wireless Driveway Motion Alarm, Outdoor 1000' Long Range

Our last driveway alarm quit working after about a year. After reading the reviews on Amazon I ordered the Driveway Informer from Safeguard Supply. We’ve been very happy with it from day one! We live in the country. Our entry drive is about 1000’ long. Tried other driveway alarms with dissipointing results. This item works as advertised, at least in our application. The transmitter is mounted to a tree 520’ from the receiver. Very clear view to the house but our house has a brick exterior and there is another interior brick wall inside the house. No problem with all those solid surfaces, the alarm works perfectly. I really like the volume control. Instructions were just OK but set up was easy. Also has a counter which could come in very handy in certain circumstances. It will scan a large area and that seems to be the only down side for us because deer walking in front of the Tx will set it off. That’s a little annoying in the middle of the night. I redirected the Tx and that helped. It’s only be up for a month so I can’t comment on longe term reliability. It is so comforting to know when someone comes down the drive before they get to the house. I can highly recommend the Driveway Informer.

I am skeptical and don't believe most reviews but you can believe this one for sure. I wish I could post pics of how I have this set up at my house I wont because I'm a little paranoid. I have a security system with 4 cameras and a receiver that's hidden in an upstairs closet. That's where I put the alarm for the driveway alert. Its about 300 yards from the censor at the end of a very long steep driveway and it works perfect. Its loud enough so I can hear it downstairs and would wake me up if someone came in the driveway while I was asleep. I live pretty much in the mountains and anyone coming in my driveway is suspicious to me, Maybe the teckies that design this model could add an app for a phone alert too. I would be willing to pay extra for it. I can view my security cameras from my I pad or phone and if the driveway alert pinged my phone when it goes off, if I wasn't at home I could see just who is in my driveway. So far it has exceeded my expectations by far. I am impressed (very impressed) with the range and that it works with the alarm hidden so far away. we'll see how long the batteries last and how it weathers the elements of the great Northwest. So far fantastic.

Replacing the same model unit that finally quit working after a number of years use. The only thing missing from the new model is a counter on the base station which I liked very much. After being away, could check the counter and see how many times it alerted (something crossed its path). Did not tell who or what but did let you know if anyone/thing had been around. This unit is quite easy to set up (if you just follow the instructions), has several alert options plus volume control, and if it works as long as the last one did, it is a terrific value.

Works by IR detection not motion, which is a good thing. Very few false alarms after we mounted on tree at 30degree downward angle so it scans just the driveway surface and nothing beyond. Also made a little plywood shelf over it to keep direct rainfall off. But replacing batteries will be a real chore as other reviewers have noted.

Works perfectly as advertised. Depending on where you located, you can turn it down or up, a little annoying when your family walks back-and-forth in front of the eye, but it does what I want to do.

This appears to me based on just looking at what Amazon sells to be of higher quality than the rest, thus expensive. Mounted it 300 feet from the house......signal shoots through concrete siding, metal roof on a building in the way, all kinds of things. Transmitter is very sensitive (I don't care), will pick up birds even, and alerts to deer or dogs in the night. NOTE the picture you see to the left is NOT the correct orientation!! Instructions tell you it won't work right unless oriented properly--and they are correct--orient it so the longer dimension is vertical, antenna pointed up, and you are good. Piece of advice---camo the thing AND the bracket (bright metal) so the doper crowd doesn't see it. Also use lithium batteries so they don't blow up like alkaline.

I called the 1800doorbell customer service and left a message but never heard back. I bought 1 set to make sure it was what I wanted to replace a very old set I could not upgrade to 2 alarms (I need 2 sets synced together for my business). The first set was perfect, my only issue was the instructions were poor (how to sync and change to ring tones etc - but found the answers in the questions) and it was a real pain opening up the sensor unit with the tiny screw heads. *** NOTE the instructions say there are settings for changing the sensitivity - that's not true but that would have solved an issue I had. **** I bought the 2nd set and figured out how to have 2 different ring sounds and loved the volume & sounds. It worked perfectly for about a week. Shortly afterwards the display went out on the ringer unit then one of the motion detectors stopped working. I called the 1800doorbell #, left a voicemail providing my order #, reason for the call and repeating my phone # etc, and no response days later. Today I went into my orders and requested a replacement. It's exactly what I was hoping for when it worked and I am hoping the replacement set works for longer than 1 week. (Note we have not had any weather events so weather was not an issue, I replaced the batteries, tried to re-do the settings - nothing worked).
