Life changing
These ear plugs have improved my quality of life and I don't say that lightly. I first started using the calmer ear plugs a few years ago when I tried them for tinnitus. Although I didn't see much of a change with that, I did notice a change in my reaction to the audio scape in the world. Where before I would experience pain in my body from loud noises from motorcycles or crockery and cutlery, I now find it more easy to cope with the sounds of everyday life, they take the harshness off everything and even cut out certain background sounds altogether. The background sounds that are cut out will be things like the neighbours lawnmower, I've noticed the brain cutting out the sounds as opposed to muffling sound! I can't recommend them enough, I now wear them night and day and find life easier to cope with, as someone living with sensory overwhelm. I would recommend wearing them for a few days to understand the full benefit in a variety of audio scenarios. A tip for keeping them in place for longer is to ensure that the plugs and your ears and completely clean and wax free. I have not needed any other ear plugs since besides foam muffling plugs for loud situations like music events or IMAX cinema. Thank you Flare!

For autism: they work. BUT…
This is my second pair of Calmer ear buds. They work very well in omitting excess noise while out and about. That ‘ocean’ or ‘wall’ of noise that most autistic people experience within the outside world is limited to a manageable level. You can hear conversation clearly, and the noise doesn’t all overwhelm at once. It does it’s job. However, what good is this when the ear bud does not safely stay in place in the ear? Even after following the instructions to the T, the ear bud seems to stay in place for a short period of time, before one or both falling out (without me realising) at some point in the day. They aren’t cheap. And these were my second replacement pair. The first lot - one had fallen out while I was walking and I didn’t realise it until I got home. This pair, both fell out while at a gig - unable to be found or recovered due to lack of light. They aren’t cheap. You get one pair and it costs 17-20 quid for two tiny bits of silicone that don’t stay put properly. Unless they reduce the price drastically, or sell them as a set of 10 or something, it’s just not worth it. They advertise this item to be worn while on the go - and they are not fit for purpose. Feel a bit scammed to be honest and hope another company come up with a viable alternative.

Not for concerts but busy environments
Definitely does dampen some sound. To give an idea, I'd recommend using it in situations where you want your ear to stop cringing at certain frequencies but your mileage may vary. Haven't been able to prove if they're as invisible as they claim and haven't had them long enough to talk about the little rubber tab to remove them but seems like it will last a while as long as you pull the plugs directly out of your ears and the rubber doesn't degrade. Fair value for an investment

“mini” is probably NOT your size!
Very small. Tiny! Personally, I have very narrow ear canals. Furthermore, I have slight swelling from a daith piercing, which also narrows my ear holes. For me, these “minis” are perfect. I am so pleased. I bought multiple pairs. (However, from the other reviews, I see that it is extremely rare that a person would need minis. Almost everyone needs a larger size. Please check before you buy! YMMV.) Easy to use: insert and go. Durable. Easily cleaned with warm water and detergent. Not comfortable for me to sleep in, but comfy enough during the day: walking, driving, working. Downside is I can’t simultaneously use my earpods. So had to switch to over-the-ear 1970s style headphones! VFM. Definitely! Although at first they were an expensive punt, now I am sure they work I am addicted. I wouldn’t be without them in noisy, public places. I keep a spare pair in my bag for travelling by public transport. At first, they don’t seem to be doing anything. But after a few hours, when I take them out, I am surprised at how different the soundscape is. Suddenly when removed, high pitched rustles in the environment are very obvious and horribly grating. Such a strange experience!

Didn't work great for me but I can see them working well for someone else
I got these for a few reasons and on all accounts they kind of work. They take the edge off. Personally they don't work well enough and my left ear seems to swallow them and I have trouble getting them out which means they will only really work perfectly for specific ear types/sizes etc. I need a plug that has a variety of sizes as one ear is obviously bigger than the other.

Took a gamble, surprised as heck!
I read the info on these carefully, and read the reviews as well, took the company's advice about using them for as long as possible during first 24hrs and how to compare hearing with and without the use of calmer pro. And I was genuinely blown away. I am autistic, I also have ADHD and sensory processing issues. I can hear the phone ring in a different class to the one I am in over two classes of special needs students who are very noisy - the only place I could go that would be louder is most likely a gig/concert or theatre! So with that said I found on return to work after Christmas break that I was reaching autistic burnout and getting very triggered by all the noises in the school. I decided to do something about it because I was desperate not to end up in total burnout unable to go to work, so I bought a pair of calmer pro and a pair of loop experience pro in the same order. They both work very differently - loop is a deadener earplug, whilst calmer is not what Id call an earplug but it's form is supposed to reduce distortion of sound as it reaches the ear making harsh sounds feel softer. Calmer pro surprised me the most - it genuinely does make harsh and usually triggering sounds, softer and much more manageable. I don't know how it does it, as there's not even any batteries but I really don't care because it works! It will even soften the harsher sounds of tantrum meltdowns, and the harsher sounds of a stern adult voice! As for listening to music it brings a greater clarity to all the sounds and you notice details that you hadn't before (I tested using a track I know well enough that I can remember all its details and play it in my head without the use of technology)! I also tested it watching a documentary on the Hillsborough disaster - I'm really not keen on the sport in the first place tbh but as a child I went to a couple of live games and that was okay, but on TV the crowds and commentators give a horrible texture to that experience - and what happened was that I was able to watch it because somehow it sounded better with calmer pro. Comfortable to wear all day as long as they're inserted correctly but the instructions for this are straightforward, they don't fall out and very rarely slip (the rare occasion this happens is likely to be after eating, if they're not inserted quite deeply enough). I'm so glad I took a gamble - I think Calmer pro will help stave off autistic burnout for a little longer, perhaps long enough for me to find some helpful strategies to use in conjunction with these. If you're on the fence, my advice is try them and hopefully you won't regret it, I didn't! (I went straight in with the Calmer pros, I haven't tried any of their other products yet!)

Better than loops
May seem pricey for what they are but they work so the results are priceless. Tried loops but they hurt my ears. These are so comfortable and fit my tiny ears perfectly. Bought multiple so I always have them when needed. They don’t make sounds quieter, just less painful and overwhelming.

Not impressed with these especially for the higher price compared to the standard model
Ok so where to start. These ear buds which are so called 'pro' and an elevated version of the standard calmer ear buds are simply not worth the hype! They are more than double the price of the standard version and from what I can see you don't get anything extra. They are uncomfortable for a start as they are really stiff and solid and don't flex at all in your ear. They didn't fit well at all for me and felt like they would fall out in an instant so I wouldn't trust wearing them out of the house at all. The bag they come with is nice but it absolutely covers the buds in little black fibres which stick and you can't get them off!! Really annoying. You would have thought they would have checked this as you don't want those fibres getting right inside your ears and it's impossible to get them all off by hand. Overall not impressed with these. I love Calmer buds so thought I would try the premium option but no, definitely not for me. Just being totally honest.

keeps sliding out
Bought the normal size Calmer (not the mini). My ear size is medium on any earbuds. But the calmer keeps on sliding out of my ear. It's so small and won't fit properly. No change on the surrounding noise. No improvement. Just a little bit of reduction.
