Why won't they ship this product to California

I'd assume because in California it is illegal to flush cat feces down the toilet, which is what this machine does.

Why won't amazon ship granules to Oakland CA?

You can order directly from catgenie for the granules. http://www.catgenie.com/ is their page.

Why won't they ship this product to California anymore..?

I'd assume because in California it is illegal to flush cat feces down the toilet, which is what this machine does.

I must be missing something. After a cat poops, doesn't the washing make the poop turn to mush?

The cat box has a scoop and rotating cat bowl that rotates to pick up the poop. The scoop then lifts up up and slides the solid poop down a waste area with a drain tube. Then it flushes the contents of the tube into your toilet or sewage drain (whichever you have it connected to). It really does work much like a toilet. If it drains into your toilet you do have to flush your toilet after the draining cycle otherwise it does sit in your toilet. Hopefully this makes sense.
