Perfect brush for my long haired dachshund.
My groomer told me about this brush. I must say I’m pleased. My long hair dachshund doesn’t mind at all I easily brush her daily. I research the proper size and bristle for small long hair. The bristles are soft. You will need a bigger brush for like a German shepherd or a Labrador. Gets the hair that’s close to skin. Best brush so far for her. Easy to use. This one for small dogs works well. Not much hair in brush because I brush her daily

Decent quality curved slicker, not heavy duty
I didn't expect, based on price, that this would be a super work horse, so it's no surprise that it isn't. The pins aren't set as well as they could be. However, I just needed a curved back slicker for the parts of my Newf where the straight back isn't appropriate. The pins are a bit shorter on this one than my straight back, but they are the length they claimed to be. Depending on how much coat you have to deal with and the texture, this could be a great addition to your home grooming tools, but I would not recommend it for heavy use. As with any slicker brush, it's vital that you use it correctly to prevent irritation to your dog's skin, so general caveat--don't use a slicker brush, this or any other, without educating yourself on how to use it properly. Your dog will thank you, your brushing will be more effective, and you're less likely to bend or pull out the pins. Oh, I would have appreciated some type of padding or cushion on the handle--after extended use, the bare plastic gets to be unfriendly. It does have little grippy ridges, but they don't do much. Overall, it is pretty reminiscent of those universal branded plastic slickers that were red and kind of light tan? Maybe they still sell those. They're basic, not much in the way of bells and whistles, but generally get the job done. But not suited to heavy use.

Shih tzu approved!
The first show tech brush we got for our shih tzu was given to us by our groomer when he was about a year old. He’s now 7. We have used these brushes ever since. We brush the whole dog in the morning, and the face and tail again in the evening. So the brush definitely gets used. It is soft enough to make the brushing comfortable yet very effective at getting into the hair and catch any tangle. Easy to clean. Long lasting and well priced.

We love it!
I have a couple longhair cats that hate being brushed, and I am sensitive to fumes such as come from the rubber in brushes, so I am always trying various brushes to see if I can find the best type for us. This did have rubber stink as they all do, but it aired out relatively quickly (four others of different brands all bought the same time are still stinky a month after this one came in from the porch). Because it has a pure plastic handle not silicone coated like many are, it doesn't give off that awful febreze-y stink that silicone has these days. Good choice for pet parents with fragile health. As for function, seems top notch there too. I got the one with really long firm tines and though I can't dig very deep yet due to a few knots, I love how many strokes we can go before it fills up. My one cat especially, who seems to be at least part Himalaya (ie has the fur of two regular cats the poor guy, quite prone to matting) hates brushing and uses those brush-cleaning breaks to flee. With the amount of hair this bad boy can hold, I get ahold of my cat, and don't let go until I am done. It's as easy as possible considering. They seem pleased with the sensation on their head and neck fur (the only areas they LIKE brushed) but I have to be very careful because this size of brush is about an inch too wide to fit between their ears and it is also at least an inch wider than their necks are long. I knew I was getting a dog brush though, I didn't expect it to fit, but those long tines were a big draw, and they're as great as I hoped so I love the brush. I did a quick google of the brand name and see that they do sell a "Twin-flex slicker" which looks skinnier (no listings say dimensions) with maybe the same tines (no ads say that either!) so I may try to find one of those (they are in the 10-15 dollar range but somehow the only ones currently on here are over 40!). Oh by the way if you are curious about dimensions on this, I see the vendor has mucked up that question by describing the width to the edge of the plastic, rather than the width of the tines area. (Who on earth would care how big the plastic is?) The width of the bristle part is about 3 1/8 inches. Oh and durability- I will try to remember to update this when the brush starts to fail but really, some brushes have a wiggly tine right off, and this is sturdy after a month of use, so I think it will prove sturdy.

WORKS WELL FOR PRICE
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have a very, very winter-coated dog, and we got this to comb it out for the summer. It works pretty well, but the thing we had trouble with was that the brush was yanking out the dog's hair for some reason. But overall is a good brush.

Moldy gel on product?
The product itself is fine, but I dont know what is all over it. Its like a gel and also almost looks moldy. I have concerns.

Excellent for brushing out a doodle, poodle, or other long-coated breeds. Sturdy material, medium-length "long pins" with that little hook design that helps to fluff the coat. Excellent value.

I love this brush, so good on my dogs long coat, getting down closer to her skin, breaking up mats.
