Review: Entering a new phase - The Newsboys are bracing for whats coming and that is electronic music. I decided to listen to this album by laying in bed at night, lights off, with Sol Republic high end headphones on. After hearing every track in its entirety, I would write down notes on what I heard. I am a very open-minded Christian music fan so I hope this review is an accurate picture of this record. 1. That's How You Change The World: As the first song in the album, its a great way to introduce us to their new sound. Its a well written song and showcases how the rest of the album will sound like. Electronic elements dominate this song and the result is a good one. 5/5 stars 2. Restart: Its unfortunate that the title track of the album suffers from a repetitive chorus. It seems that the writers had a great concept on paper but the end result wasn't what they envisioned. The song itself is catchy, fun to listen to, and does include electronic elements throughout. 3.5/5 stars 3. Love Like I Mean It: Wow what an amazing song! Every aspect of the song comes together nicely and is well written. Its at this point in the album that electronic elements fall away and rock takes over. 5/5 stars 4. Live With Abandon: Another incredible song! This song is a straight up rock Worship hybrid that is very fun to listen to. Its a guitar and piano driven song that is sure to be a staple in the Newsboys tour songlist. 5/5 stars 5. Go Glow: This song is similar to Restart in the sense that it also has a repetitive chorus. The electronic elements come roaring back here. Its unfortunately one of the weaker tracks but is great in a live setting. 3.5/5 stars 6. That Home: This song is special because it seems to be written by Michael Tait telling us about his mom. The beginning is too minimalistic but when it picks up at the middle, its so emotionally powerful. Don't be surprised if you shed a tear or two and find yourself thinking of a loved one when the song ends. 4.5/5 stars 7. Disaster: It suffers from a repetitive chorus but is a little stronger than Restart and Go Glow. And yes it does have electronic elements as well. 4/5 stars 8. Fishers of Men: This song stands out as being the most intense song of the album up to this point. The BPM level is similar to that found in a progressive trance song. Unfortunately the chorus of this song is also repetitive. 3.5/5 stars 9. One World: This song's sound is similar to what their previous record was like. Well written and straightforward rock song. 5/5 stars 10 Enemy: Is another well written song that tones down the electronic sound and is similar to their previous record vibe. Its only if you pay close attention you can hear some electronic elements. 5/5 stars 11. We Believe: Immediately this song stands out because of the way it was written. It has an old school worship vibe to it accompanied by young people singing with Tait in the chorus. 5/5 stars 12. Overflow: This is another well written song that blends rock and electronic elements seamlessly so as a result, its a great song overall. 5/5 stars 13. Man On Fire: Is a song that is electronic in nature and also suffers from a repetitive chorus. Kevin Max makes an appearance here and his vocal quality is incredible as usual. 4.5/5 stars 14. God is Movin: Its similar to Fishers Of Men because of its electronic sounds. The song is driven by a powerful beat and dubstep sounds. Its a great song and well written. 5/5 stars 15. The Living Years: The best way to describe this song is that its a curve ball. I was not expecting a song like this from the Newsboys. It definitely is a unique song and is driven by electronic elements and is also well written. Kevin Max makes his second appearance here and again his vocal abilities are amazing. 4/5 stars 16. Stronger: Its the last song in this deluxe version of Restart. Stronger is a straight up rock Worship song that was well written and well thought out. 5/5 stars Overall, this is album is a great addition to any Christian music fans collection. It is definitely different to any of their past albums and does have a few weak tracks while others are amazing. I hope that the writers take what they learned and apply it to the next album. I would have rated it 4.5 of 5 stars but desertcart doesn't allow for it so I gave it 5 stars. Review: Rockin' album with excellent lyrics and theology - The Newsboys has long been one of my favorite groups. Their electronic sound coupled with their very creative lyrics makes for an excellent listening experience. This album is no different. Michael Tate's voice really plays well with their overall sound. "Fishers of Men" (track 8) is what initially turned me on to the album. Good reminder to "go, go, go" reach the "7 billion people on a spinnin' ball that all mean the world to you" (i.e. God). That paired with the message of "Go Glow" makes for a great challenge. We are reminded of God's wonderful grace in "Disaster" and "Restart" (the chorus to both gets stuck in my head and I'm pleased that I can't forget it) and "That's How You Change the World" reminds us that it's faithfulness in the little things that makes us effective as Christians, not the big flashy productions. "That Home" is a beautiful ballad about a home where faith rules prefiguring our Eternal Home and "One Word" has served to express my longing to just hear one transforming word directly from the mouth of God. In classic Newsboys fashion, "Stronger" at the end of the album resonates more than the orginal did. The other tracks on the album are of equal quality, but don't resonate quite as strongly with me personally. I guess we all have our favorites. I will note that I have rated all the tracks 3 stars or better with an (unprecedented) four tracks rating five stars (usually only one or two tracks per album will make it that high for me). Hopefully this album will uplift and challenge you as much as it did me, while getting you to kick up your heals and dance for joy.

In One Word: Awesome In two words: Buy it!!
Wow how to start. Newsboys is a veteran group that has been around almost since the rise of Christian music itself. This is their 17th studio project and let me say..it is different, but good. I thought with what jesusfreakhideout described, this would be a heavy techno, dance-pop induced sounding album. Not really to much. It is pop though. That's how you change the world definitely gives a good start to the pop sound and then is followed by Restart which is techno but on a refreshingly light side. "You, you..you hit the restart" will certainly get into your head after a listen or two or three. There are some tracks that do tend to run together musically and lyrically but a few standouts exist. That Home, disaster, One Word, We Believe, Man on Fire, and The Living Years (the last two are from the deluxe version)are stellar songs. As one reviewer said though the same thread of thought seems to run through the whole album and that is 'this is who i was and this is who God is making me to be or who I am now.' We believe is a good current update and companion piece to Rich Mullins famous song 'creed'. the Living Years is a remake of one of my favorite WFOG radio songs by mike and the Mechanics from the 80's. There is a worship cover that I am pretty sure is the last track on the deluxe version 'Stronger.' If I'm wrong then it should be cuz I know this song will go into churches all across the country. It hits a lot of highlights of the Christian faith that 'We believe left out lol. No it does a great job. Overall this album is great although there are some areas that do need improvement but a solid effort for a band that had endured longer than most bands do and still make groovy yet Christ centered music. I think as lead singer Michael Tait has solidified himself as a leader of this legendary group. As time goes on, this group will be back, hopefully, to where it was when Peter Furler was lead singer. From what I've heard here..it's a good start forward. Next album could be even more epic if that's possible.

~~ "He wakes the stars, lights the moon, knows who you are..... put the light in you, GO GLOW" ~~
With 12 songs on this album, you are in for a treat! We purchased this for our 12 year old son but all of us have listened to it over and over again! Our favorite track is probably "Restart" but they are all good. The lyrics are strong, full of meaning and the vocals are tight. A great album for all ages but especially youngsters who need good wholesome music in their lives. Our son's "tuneless" voice is often heard singing out the lyrics to "God's not dead, He's surely alive". It has given Richard and I many opportunities to share with him what the words mean when he has asked. A great example of the lyrics is in "Fishers of Men". "Seven billion people on a spinnin' ball And they all mean the world to You. It's times like these that I feel so small There must be something I can do. I played it safe in shallow water, Never had the faith to cross the border. God I've gotten good at being comfortable, It's time to leave my comfort zone. Cause you said, "Go... Go... and I will make you fishers of men. Go... Go... I don't care who or where you've been. So don't be afraid to show the world your faith, cause you're never alone. Just Go.. Go, and I will make you fishers of men." " HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

They continue to bring it.
What's not to love about Newsboys. This is one of those things where you like it or don't, no in-between. This is one of my families favorite Christian bands, in fact, I've seen the perform three or four times and got to do a meet and greet at one of their shows. I like that there are some more ballad types of tracks rather than everything being primarily upbeat and fast paced. The song That Home that Michael wrote for his mother brings tears pretty much EVERY time I hear it though not for the same reasons. I've never had a mother like he sings about and my solemn prayer is that my children are able to relate to this song about me after I'm gone. The 1st time my son heard it (he's 12) he was moved to tears and came running to hug me saying something like "thanks for giving us "that home" like Newsboys sings about. I haven't heard a Newsboys CD I didn't like but honestly think the band is that much stronger with Tait on lead vocals.

Newsboys Best Album
If you're like me, you never spent much time listening to Newsboys before Michael Tait joined. In my opinion, he came in and made the band sound so much better. "Born Again" blew me away when it came out. "God's Not Dead" was also good, but didn't quite match up to the previous release. "Restart" is just a notch above BA in my opinion. It has the same great lyrics you'd expect as a fan of BA, but the music is slightly better. They throw in a lot more funky sounds and it really adds to the experience. These guys are on fire and showing that they can make great dance music that can match up with anything on the radio.

Like it a lot, but buy the deluxe version instead!
I just wish I had known there was a deluxe version before I bought this one. It's so good, I want the extra 5 songs, especially the ones featuring Kevin Max. Now I'm stuck buying the "extra" ones individually. Besides that, I think it is the best Newsboys CD yet featuring Michael Tait!

brilliant
This album is just brilliant. These guys just seem to get it right every time!! I am fairly new to the Newsboys camp, but I am catching up fast. This band turns out great album after great album and this one is on exception. As always, it is full of great rock songs but still with the underlying subtle hint of Christianity. This album is still very enjoyable whether you are religious or not as the religious aspect of this album is not something that is shoved in your face. Highly recommended.
