Can you use these to add wilton thick dye on on to frosting as oppose to toothpicks?

No. I actually tried using them once and discovered they're too thin. Toothpicks work much better.

Solid product

My husband is a chef so naturally goes through these cake testers [doneness of meat] a lot. These work fantastic and last a long time. Naturally if they accidentally go through a washing machine [left in pockets], they bend easily, but with natural use, they last a long time so a package of 6 will last you awhile.
