Is this product rat proof?

Any rat or raccoon given enough access/time can chew through any plastic. Get yourself some terrier dogs. They chew through rats and raccoons with ease, and won't bother the plastic cans. ;)

Is this container weatherproof? Will rain leak in if it's closed? I just need to know if I can leave it outside without everything getting soaked.

I glued little round magnets (available on Amazon) under the rim and on top of the lid using silicone cement. This keeps the lid from blowing open. Place four magnets under the rim near the handle and near the corners. The wet cement holds them in place. Place magnets on the outside of the lid under the handle. Let them find their matching magnets to show you the location, then glue them on at that location. Cover each magnet with silicone cement to make them weatherproof.

Is the lid removeable?

I bought this for my son...the lid sure didn't appear to be "removable"....and the trash men ended up getting it....I wrote to the company about this but heard nothing back. Very disappointing ...cause it's a great can (:

No, the lid connects to the container in the back. The lid is assembled by Rubbermaid. It would be removable if you disassembled it, but that would take a while.
