Gatsby Almond Dark Chocolate Bar

I absolutely love chocolate, and this is the best lower calorie chocolate I've ever had. The chocolate taste is very good, and the texture is also very good too - not too hard or soft. Highly recommend it, I am addicted and will be ordering more!

For a low sugar and lower calorie chocolate bar, these things are really good. I don't follow a KETO diet but have sampled a bunch of KETO snacks, cookies and things like that and with few exceptions most of them are pretty gross. If this is KETO friendly and it seems like it might be, this is probably the best sweet treat you could get.Instead of Stevia or a derivative of it, some form of real sugar, monk fruit or something else, these bars have "Allulose". It seems to come naturally from things like figs and raisins but now can be made artificially. It's about 70% as sweet as something like sucrose and has 90% less calories according to WebMD.Other than that I know nothing about the sweetener in these chocolate bars. It doesn't look like we can tell if they use the naturally occurring form of it or the artificial stuff from the ingredients.Assuming you are OK with the sweetener used that probably makes these low sugar and low calorie, you should have no problem with these chocolate bars. They are quite good. Are you willing to spend $30 for 6 bars or just under $30/lb for this chocolate? That seems pretty steep to me. If you are on a KETO diet and buy KETO snack foods you are probably used to paying that much for cookies and related things that are disgusting compared to these bars.Overall, these are very good chocolate bars. I'd never know they were low calorie and low sugar in a blind taste test. If you're cool with the price and like the attributes of these bars you won't be disappointing with them.When they were delivered today it was about 75 degrees outside. While they didn't melt en route they were soft. They weren't melted, they weren't deformed, they weren't sticking to the package but they were softer than a chocolate bar you'd buy in a grocery store. I don't know if they are just naturally more soft due to the formulation of it they would have been a sticky mess had they been delivered when the summer temps here jump up around 100 degrees.

These Gatsby Dark Chocolate Almond bars do have a nice flavor, but the texture is very chalky. If done correctly using cocoa powder, cocoa butter and sugar a nice creamy chocolate can be made. When looking at the ingredients the problem appears to be the amount of cocoa butter. It's listed after cocoa powder and almonds. It's sad because they could have had a deliciouslower sugar , lower calorie creamy chocolate that you love to eat. Instead they have a chocolate that you take a bite of and don't want to eat anymore. Given the poor texture and the current listing price at just under$30 for 6 bars I do not think these Gatsby chocolate bars are a very good value.

Absolutely the worst product I have ever eaten. Ghastly. Doesn't taste like chocolate. Doesn't taste like almonds. Tastes like sand and artificial flavoring, but worse.

Dark chocolate and almonds are a delicious combination and these 2.8 ounce bars take it a step further by keeping sugar and carbs low. The reduced sugar is accomplished by using allulose which is derived from fruits like figs and raisins, and is approximately 70 percent as sweet as sugar. A small amount of sugar is also used.The bar has a good dark chocolate taste, the small bits of almonds are easy to chew and there are no odd aftertastes but the texture is different and tough to describe—perhaps it is less creamy. It doesn’t have that super smooth mouth feel but overall it is quite good and the trade-off with regular candy is significant.For example the entire 2.8 ounce bar has 6 grams of sugar with 5 of those grams added. To compare the same 2.8 ounce size Hersheys Golden Almond Dark chocolate bar (HGADC) has 30 grams of sugar, all added. Calories for this entire bar are 210 with 19 fat grams and 32 grams carbohydrates while the same size HGADC bar has 390 calories, 27 fat grams and 39 grams carbohydrates.This bar also uses MCT oil and sunflower lecithin—and it has no cholesterol or sodium. If looking for a dark chocolate almond bar that contains less sugar without using artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohol while reducing calories, fat and carbs—and are not bothered by a less creamy texture this may be an excellent choice. Delicious.

I try to cut back on sugar and excess calories but am a chocolate lover. I've tried several sugar free chocolates, and some have been OK or even good, but none have been great. I first saw this brand Gatsby on an online ad and was curious, and then when I had the opportunity to try it I was very interested. These are full size chocolate bars, they come each in their own thick paper box, then a foil wrapper inside of the box. I like this packaging because you can easily cover an uneaten portion of the bar and put it back in the box without needing any additional stuff like a ziplock bag. These bars honestly taste almost exactly like you'd expect from a "normal" dark chocolate almond bar. There is some slight difference due to the sweetener, the taste is "bright" (not sure how to describe it, but if you've ever tasted sugar alternatives you might know what I mean). That is very subtle however, and they nailed the texture and consistency of the bar. I really like it a lot.
