I have to say this is the best product I have bought in a long time. I have two big dogs, one over 100 lbs and the other is about 60. I bought this (and an extra leash) hoping to make it easier for me to walk both at once. It works beautifully!!! The material is very heavy duty and the whole thing is sturdily made. I confidently walked both at the park and didn't worry about anything snapping off as we walked along. I was able to pull in some slack as other walkers went by, but there isn't too much that the momentum pulls you over if you stop and the dogs don't immediately. I have to work on getting them to pick their favorite side, but that's my dogs, not the leash. :) As a side note I found it really cute that the bag it came in had a sticker on it saying don't throw it away, re-purpose it is a waste bag. I work as professional dog walker and this system is wonderful. Hands free walking, and really great for dogs that pull. No stress on the arms, pull is on center of body, I just stop, bend my knees, and the dog isn't going anywhere. Highly recommend this product. You can get extensions, for the long lead section, and I'd recommend getting some extra clips (the piece that clips onto dog's collar). They last a long time, but I give the clip a lot of daily use, and after quite a long time, clip will loosen, but I'm talking about after several hundred walks.

I purchased this product after reading the book "Perfect Puppy in 7 Days" by Dr. Sophia Yin, DVM. My new retriever puppy is usually tethered to me when I'm moving around the house. He was tethered to me in the yard as well when he was really little. The leash portion does slide easily around the belt. I have a treat pouch attached to the belt too. Her system works great with the Buddy System. I started with a very-light leash when he was 8-weeks old, but it was inconvenient to have the handle attached to my wrist. I do like the freedom of movement for both of us with The Buddy System. I also purchased the extension so that he has a bit more maneuver room. Since he is still really close to the ground, the extension was necessary. Here is my ONLY complaint. The leash is 1-inch wide. That is a lot of leash for a little 8 to 14 pound puppy. He does get tied up and tangled up in it. I wish that they offered a less wide leash with the same 1-inch connection for little puppies. I have a 3/8 inch lupine leash - and would like that option for a growing dog. As he becomes a full sized retriever, I will appreciate the strength of the 1-inch wide leash. I have not walked him with the Buddy System yet. He has been yard bound due to being very sick. We get to start walking this week. Using a Buddy System for a walk will consistently teach him how far he can travel away from me. If you have read the book, you will understand this concept. I still like the feel of a leash handle in my hand. The leash does detach from the belt and it is possible to create a handle. I will post another review after we have some walks under our "belt". Who knows, I might like having both hands free during a walk.

The pup and I love this leash! Having hands free during walks is such a treat, never mind easier for those "scoop-a-doo" moments. What especially amazed me was that the leash really travel a full 360 around my waist- and all while encumbered with heavy winter clothing. I think this leash is an example of really well thought-out design, and, if this came in a glow in the dark or reflective option, it would be the perfect leash! We are huge fans, and will be ordering another, so grandpa can take his 'grandogger" on safe, secure walks without getting his arm yanked out of socket, or taking a fall. (The kid loves squirrels- what can I say?) Heartily recommended purchase!

The buddy system leash is comfortable for both me and my dog. I use this for a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix because she likes to scoot around me as we walk. She adapted to the different leash configuration very quickly and seems to really like it. The buddy system enables her to move freely as we walk and gives her enough room to roam without being so long that she can get in the street or into other trouble. The quality is great - the clips are secure so I feel comfortable that she will stay attached to me. I also like the second clip, which allows me to attach another leash or hook her leash up and out of the way when she is off-leash. The only thing that I think could make it better would be to add a pouch for my phone, treats or poop bags that I could attach to the second leash clip because the waist band width is a bit wide for the clips of my poop bag holder and my phone holder.

Have had this for nearly three years now, have a 75lb dog and this thing works great. My wife and I are both able to wear the leash around our wastes and this really helps for jobs around the neighborhood. Three years in its still looking really good and the clips are all in great shape. Would highly recommend.

It doesn't really work for me. I walk dogs for a living and I first of all found the leash to be too short when fully extended, especially if your dog tends to walk in front, and for some reason there are 2 belt attachments but only 1 leash attachment so if you are walking 2 dogs you have to order another leash separately. So instead I use S-carabiner clips and attach my own leashes to those. I find they slide a lot easier than the leash attachment does, quicker to clip and unclip the leashes, and for $2 a piece you save a lot of money. So I'm basically only using the belt itself when for $10 I could've gotten the same type of belt at the local hardware store. Also the leashes can get tangled if the dogs walk around each other but that can happen no matter what you use. What I did like was the variety of colors and the option of reflectivity, and it's made of pretty strong nylon. It's pretty comfortable to wear and hands-free is great. But I would recommend getting your own belt and using carabiners instead.

I have no idea how I ever survived without this leash system! I can have free hands while walking my Saint Bernard!! I have used it extensively in dog training classes and it is wonderful! Love everything about it!! AND...I am tall and fat and the waist strap even fits me!

This is a really handy hands-free leash. It easily detaches as either a full leash or small tab. So glad we bought it while housetraining our young puppy!

This is the worse dog leash i bought. It loosens all the time. It's annoying when your jogging, you always have to stop and tighten it.

This leash is perfect, especially when you’re managing multiple dogs!

Had a buddy leash years ago. Now that I'm back on it, I now remember how useful this is. At first I thought this was a short leash, so I ordered the extender after a few days. But you know what? The original product is just fine - your dog will get used to it. However, yesterday I saw the same product offered for almost 30% less, so that's not cool. Good thing I love the product...
