It's perfect and runs well!
My 6-year-old nephew has been asking for a model train.....since he was 2.5 years old. When he was 3...."Santa" brought him a used one, and we NEVER got it to work. This year (I had to REALLY convince his parents to TRY again....they ARE expensive!) he got this one for Christmas. I would NOT recommend this for EVERY 6-year-old, or even MOST. But - for a model-train obsessed 6-year-old, this SET....is perfect! We are extremely happy with this purchase!

Excellent value for basic train set
I bought this train set because I wanted a ready to run train all in one box, and I am happy with my purchase. I was surprised by how detailed the locomotive and rolling stock are for this price; this train looks better in real life than in the Amazon photos. The track fits together nicely and the train runs smoothly on the track without any derailments. The track makes about a 3 foot diameter circle, which is a good size and shape for under a tree, but I chose not to run mine under the tree to avoid carpet lint and dirt contamination/problems. If you're looking for a top of the line train, this probably isn't the best choice, but if you want a decent quality train at a good price to run during the holidays (or maybe year round), I suggest buying this train set.

GP40 not realistic
Good locomotive but if your a train nerd CSX DOES NOT OWN ANY GP40S besides the stealth scheme but still a good train set for 12 and up.

Great Train Set for my 15 year old
My son really likes to play with model trains and he bought this set with his allowance when the package arrived it came in great condition and was easy to set up although the set comes with a circle he put two extra pieces of straight track on there and it ran perfectly and the train and cars were very easy to put on the track would definitely recommend this

Be prepared to put it together immediately!!
Need to buy extra tracks. Our grandson is obsessed with CSX railroad! He was thrilled when he unwrapped his present! Perfect size and reasonably priced.

Buen tren básico HO para comenzar.
Creo que es un buen tren básico en escala HO. La luz del frente de la locomotora enciende con más intensidad dependiendo de la velocidad que se aplique al control. La luz no es muy fuerte. Los vagones tienen ruedas de plástico y corren bien. Los contenedores estan pegados a los carros. Las vías son negras y necesitarás comprar más para sea más grande el recorrido. Me gusta que todos tienen el mismo logotipo del tren.
