Work great, with 2 pointers
I’ve had four of these. I use them on my 220 gallon fish tank. They were great! Two things I’ve discovered: #1 It seems that if you pair them with and appliance that uses too little electricity, they won’t work. I thought mine had failed on a circuit with one small LED light. I simply added another light to the same circuit, and it started working again. #2 vibration throws them off. I had it on top of a fish tank lid that had minor vibration. I put the sensor on a nearby dresser, and the problem was fixed. Hope this information is helpful! Enjoy

Update: Changing my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars all across the board!!!
On the fence with this one. Product either gets a star or loses a star after a month of tinkering. The device randomly turns itself on and off with no clear evidence of motion in and around the area. I confirmed that the 4sec, 1m & 2m settings were working as they should and they did. By the way, the 4sec interval is way too short to serve any purpose! 15 & 30sec intervals would be better. Came in here to read the reviews and the Nay sayers gave me an idea to tinker with. Will be blocking out what the sensors are able to see into a small rectangle using duct tape. I really want this to work because I really HATE having to tell Alexa to turn the lamp off only to get sassy lip service from her. Will check back later.*** UPDATE *** Instructions need a bit more details. After 3 days of tinkering and hair pulling, if you find that the Westek device seems to turn itself on and off randomly, read instructions below before returning...1. Plug in the light you wish to control with the Westek device, manually turn it off and then unplug it.2. Set the Westek device to 1 minute and plug it in (w/out anything plugged to it), let it do its "knock, knock" thing and wait until finished (about 5 seconds). - You can change the timing but for setup purposes 1 min.3. Plug the light into the Westek devices outlet, & wait maybe 5 sec. Then manually turn the light on.4. Walk away from the sensor and in one minute the light should turn off. Walk over to the sensor and it should turn on. After that, it should not randomly turn on or off and should work as intended.

Great for closets
I bought 3 of these to use in closets. I ran LED strip lights around the interior door molding so that you can't see the lights but they light up the whole closet nice and evenly. The motion sensor works well. There is a slight delay before it turns on, maybe a second. The initial 4 second mode isn't very useful as it doesn't turn off after 4 seconds of not seeing motion, it turns off 4 seconds after seeing motion. That means that it turns on and then 4 seconds later turns off again, then quickly back on. Not very useful. The 1 minute timer is great. Enough time to grab something out of a closet and it doesn't stay on for too long afterwards. The product could be improved by making the internal timer reset every time motion is detected so that the light stays on when people are moving. Probably wouldn't work well in a room or area that is going to be occupied for a while as the light shutting off would be annoying. But for closets it works well and I couldn't find anything better out there.

Frequently fails to power off
When set to 4-seconds, any reasonable motion will cause this switch to turn on the power (yea!) and then turn it right back off a second later (boo!). You can do jumping jacks in front of it; the switch will flash on and off for as long as you jump. If you were hoping to build a motion-detector activated disco dance studio, this is the setting/switch for you.Long time settings are more problematic. When first plugged into the wall the unit will rapidly flash on and off 4 or 5 times, and then settle into watching for motion in a powered-off mode. Strange, but OK. Now make a motion that it can see and yes, the power comes on! Leave the room, wait for the set time to pass, and you can observe from a distance that the power will go off. Sweet! But if you bring your wife into the room to demonstrate your brilliance (power on!), exit the room, and then have her observe the switch from a distance, she will observe that it never shuts off. As will you, all alone, at the end of the hall, after your divorce. As was suggested in another review, I switched everything off, unplugged my load (a multi-outlet extension cord connected to a 5-watt light and a 50-watt stereo amp), unplugged the motion switch from the room's wall plug, and then reinstalled everything precisely according to the instructions that were included on a tiny square of paper that came with the switch, being sure to follow each step in the order given. In my case the switch wouldn't shut off, not even a single time. Perversely, I tried following the instructions in reverse order (except for step 1, setting the time setting, which physically has to precede step 2, plugging the until into the wall) and I got the switch to work as advertised for a couple of days, until it reverted to always on.Dead-on-arrival would have been preferable.

So far it's doing exactly what I wanted
I got this device to use with my wife's low-wattage space heater she has under her desk in our home office. She's frequently forgetting to turn it off when she leaves the room and I happen to come back into the room hours (sometimes the next day) later to find it running all that time. She even uses it in the summer sometimes so not only is that wasting power but also fighting the AC. Her heater is infrared and only uses 500W max on its highest setting (250W on how); that is far below the 1400W rating of this plug.Setup was quick and easy. I just placed the sensor off to the side of her desk in the included, weighted base holder, set the off delay time (I used 5 minutes), and plugged it on. It has been working perfectly thus far. The great thing about this one vs. others I was considering is that it will keep the power on continuously as long as there is motion in the area, then turns off after the delay time if there's no motion.I've seen a number of people say that these go bad after a while and start staying on for no reason, but thus far ours is working perfectly. I will update if that changes. So far we are 100% happy with this. It was affordable and solves a problem; now I don't have to worry about the heater being left on and likely this thing will pay for itself rather quickly in savings on our power bill.

Sweet motion detection
Starting with what I didn't like - the controls for the timer are on the back of the plug component. This means that when you plug it in and decide you want the power to stay on for 10 minutes rather than 20 (for example) you have to unplug it to make that change. Not a huge deal, but depending on WHERE you are installing this it can be a pain to have to unplug to adjust. Why not put it on the front of the plug? At least then you can make the adjustment easily.Nice length in the cord between the sensor and the plug location. Not a flimsy cord, so it feels solid and like it will last a long time. The sensor works like a champ and has no delay that is measurable in my opinion. In our use case it actually was to good because it picked up movement in another room that required me to block a part of the sensor so it wouldn't go off unless movement is only in the area desired. I wish they had a distance control also, but can't complain for the price. I think this is a great value and it work wonderfully for us.

Great price Works flawlessly!
This unit works good I use it to turn on my cats water bowl/water fountain when it detects any movement, I said it to run for 5 minutes after it detects movement it is fully adjustable you can set it for just a few seconds all the way to 20 minutes of runtime very versatile, very sensitive activates with any movement in the room!

Perfect for my Cottage Shed
At my cottage, my children are going in and out of the shed and always leaving the light on. I was able to connect this motion sensor to the shed lights and whenever they opened the door, the lights would turn off and turn off shortly after. It has three settings for the amount of time it stays on, which works fine for my needs. There is also a long cord between the plug and the sensor. It gives you range as to where you can place the motion sensor. The cord was a little long for my purpose, but I can see the benefit in other situations. It has sustain warm summer climates and cold Canadian winters out in the shed with no difficulties. The motion sensor has cut down on my electricity due to the light automatically shutting off instead of relying on young daughters to remember hitting the switch.I would buy again .

BELIEVE the reviews! The motion sensor works...for a few weeks only!
***BEWARE**** Read the reviews and thought I would chance this as many reported the motion sensor stopped turning off the light after awhile, magically just outside of return policy. GUESS WHAT? It's TRUE! Mine worked fine for a few weeks and then it just stopped turning the light off right outside of return policy. So if you only need a working motion sensor for a few weeks, this one's for you! Otherwise, go buy yourself a nice lunch with the money instead as this product will end up in your garbage.

Dog's are the best security alarm, but this is my backup.
I bought this to add a little home security after an attempted B&E two weeks ago.Thankfully the dog heard somebody trying to slide open the patio screen door on the lower level and freaked out. (I heard absolutely nothing but then noticed the solar motion light go off at the backyard gate into the woods behind my house. (I've also since added an exterior combination padlock to that gate.) FJM Security SX-873 4-Dial Combination Padlock With Black Finish and 10,000 Possible CombinationsI saw him back there with a high powered flashlight as well when he took off. I noticed the next day that he'd actually partially slid open the screen door downstairs. (At first I thought he was just trying to get into the yard. Didn't realize until later that he'd actually tried to get into the house and that's what the dog was barking about.Anyway, I've set this up in the lower level so that if somebody does get in, a loud radio willl go off and a light will come on. Hopefully that will be another deterrent and at least we or the dog will hear them. You can mount this on the wall (mounting screws and plugs included), or you can just place it on a table using the provided stand. The stand is how I'm using it.I set it up and it seems to work fine. I also came through the door the next day to test it, and everything went off as planned. Hopefully it never actually gets used for that purpose but it's a little more peace of mind.(The basement rec room doesn't actually get used much so I'm also hoping that the radio going off for a minute when we're down there doing laundry etc, won't be too much of an irritant.)Anyway, I was happy to have found this simple little device.I also purchased these security stickers.Outdoor/Indoor (4 Pack) 100mm X 100mm Home Business Security Burglar Alarm System Window Door Warning Alert Sticker Decals **Front Self Adhesive Clear Vinyl**
