How many amps is everyone getting? i'm getting 1.6a via usb on the 40w solar version. how can i hit 2.1a?

What most of the reviews say is that you'll rarely hit 2.1a and it's also inconsistent with clouds, etc. And every time you drop below 2.1a, your phone, tablet may stop charging which could require you to unplug/plug back in to restart charging. The best way to solve this is to use the solar panel to charge a battery bank which will take whatever it can get from the solar with little fuss on amperage. Then use the battery bank to charge your phone as it provides the consistent 2.1a your phone/tablet needs. Many battery banks will not simultaneously charge (solar/wall plug) and discharge (phone/tablet), but if needed find one that has "pass through" charging.

Does solar panel have reverse voltage prevention capability to prevent draining the battery of the item being charged?

It seemed to drain my phone. 2 percent battery loss in a second all at once.

Can 3 of these FlexSolar 40W solar chargers be tethered for even more power wattage?

If by tethered you mean daisy-chained, then the answer is no. This is not like the permanent or some of the bigger 100w solar panels designed to be daisy chained for higher wattage. That doesn't mean there isn't a way to use multiple units, but that really depends on what you are trying to power. And that is the biggest question, what are you trying to charge that takes or needs 120watts? You might be better off looking at a higher end panel set.

I am going camping in the desert for a week and am looking for a way to charge a mini air cooler. Would I need a power bank also?

FlexSolar 40 watts solar charger panel can only be used in the sunlight and No function of storing electricity. If you want to use the electricity in the night, you can buy a power bank.
