Elitech Digital Temperature Data Logger Medical Refrigerator Thermometer Vaccine Fridge Temperature Monitor, RC-4

We’ve been using this Elitech digital temperature data logger in our medication refrigerator, and it has worked so much better than the previous model we tried. It’s reliable, accurate, and incredibly convenient to have all the temperature readings digitally recorded without any extra effort. The setup was smooth, and we love having clear, consistent logs for compliance and peace of mind. If you need a dependable thermometer for medical or professional use, this one is definitely worth it!

Beware, the side contact for the battery was incorrectly bent on both the loggers I bought. Not knowing this, the first time I installed the battery, it squashed the side contact flat and the logger wouldn't work. I finally figured the problem out and bent the contact up so it touched the side of the battery. I see another reviewer has also encountered this problem, so it's a systemic issue. Just look carefully at the battery enclosure and make sure to bend the little "humped" contact so that it contacts the side, rather than the bottom face, of the battery. After that, both data loggers worked great. I'm using them to monitor run time on my home heating boilers, with the external probes attached to the sheet metal vent stacks. So far, so good. 5 stars, with one deduction for the bent battery contacts.

This small device is excellent at recording and charting the temperature, either stand alone or with probe attached. You can program alarms for out of range temps, set it to record at intervals needed, up to 16,000 samplings recorded! You can even set a delay before recording. Rechargeable internal battery. Convenient USB data/charge connection, and the application is very easy to use and understand. It's hard to believe this very accurate scientific device is so AFFORDABLE! I use it to verify the temperature of probiotic yogurt I incubate. Turns out my 'cooker' runs a degree or two high so I now know I need to set it lower accordingly. I am SO GLAD I thought to choose this one!

The product works as long as it is plugged into a USB port. When you disconnect it from the USB port, it will take about 3 temperature measurements and then quits working. The software is circa 1990's style and certainly NOT user friendly. Reminds me of an old home brew MSDOS program (the default installation directory is Root). The English documentation is scant at best, and written at about the U.S. 4th grade level. It takes awhile to figure out how the product and software work, and the documentation itself will not help much with that. After 2+ weeks of trying to get this product to work I'm returning it. Don't waste your money.

It's compatible with my MacOS 10.14.2 laptop. No bugs either - I made a few changes (turn off logging and enable button stop/start, change to F from C) and they showed up in the device after I hit Save on the laptop. Note: The download file description is deceptive: for USB interface, you do not need to load the driver (an odd thing on a Mac anyway). Just run the app, and it finds and talks with the device. It may require that driver for serial interface, but that's not what I needed anyway. I would definitely buy again. I'm a HW/SW engineer, always impressed by good performance and trouble-free software - especially at a very fair price. It worked immediately

In general, the data logger is okay; the software was simple to use, even with the pidgin English minimal instructions. One of the battery contacts was not correctly positioned, but once I got it bent to where it needed to be to work correctly, the logger worked as advertised. Nevertheless, the battery holder cover doesn't fit well enough to give me confidence that it won't decide to fall off someday.

Perfect tool for my job. I can leave it for a few days to record temps while I'm not there.

Needed a device to monitor my new HVAC system to address some issues. I saw units range from $24 (this one) to well over $1000. I chose this one for the external probe as well as an RC5+ internal probe. The unit is really sensitive as while I was trying to decipher the Chinglish used in the instructions, the probe was touching my knee and showed a temperature rise! The unit is at least as precise as they claim. The software is a bit weird but hey, it was <$25! Your stuck with a yyyy/mm/dd;hhhh/mm/ss time stamp that can't be changed apparently (I only need time not date) but hey, it was <$25! I contacted tech support to see if the time stamp could be changed and they apologized for taking 24 hours to get back to me! I just wish the Chinese companies would engage some poor college students to translate their instructions into colloquial English instead of sending these really nice units out with Chinglish instructions.

I originally thought the RC-4 data points could not be cleared thus the device would be filled up and became a throw away.. Not so, thanks to information received from Elitech Support. I received this via email from them: "When you export the data then click Save Parameter, the historical data will be clear and the memory will be released for continuous recording. " It works perfectly!

I downloaded the elitech software for my MacBook to work with the data logger as recommended by the manufacturer. However, the system does not permit me install it saying it is not approved by Apple.

This equipment is not working properly

I am using on a Mac, so these comments apply to that: The setup instructions are way out of date. File names in the instructions do not correspond to the download. The files I did download were flagged by my system as needing to be updated to be loaded. I did go to the CHAT which was very helpful. They walked me through it. I was a bit nervous to override the Apple warnings about the files needing updating for security reasons. But I did so as I wanted to get this working. When the program loaded it advised that there was an update, which I downloaded. I am unclear if this new update fixed the problem Apple was being cautious about? Operating wise it all seems to work fine. But the Manual is quite vague and you need to do some trial and error to really see how to set things up. I am still unclear about some things, but I am logging what I need to log and able to download to XL format, so that works for me

Looks good so far, downloaded the software to set up the parameters for the logging, and put it in the greenhouse to monitor higs and lows each day .So we will see how it goes
