Review: A good concise summary of the causes, associated problems, management and prevention of obesity. Relevant for all health care professionals and researchers interested in obesity. Review: This is an excellent academic text and resource for anyone studying nutrition or dietetics, or working in those fields. It is evidence based and fully referenced. This particular book focuses on supporting patients who fall into the category of being obese - from mild to morbid. The first section of the book discusses the prevalence and diagnostic criteria, while the second looks at the consequences and co-morbidities. The third section details the aetiology of (the reasons for) obesity in patients, and the fourth goes into detail on weight management - including everything from diet to surgery, taking in the needs of specialist groups of individuals as well. The fifth and sixth are about children - causes of obesity and weight management. And the final section discusses the public health aspects and campaigns aimed at prevention. This is very comprehensive - a real in-depth text, not just a summary. And one that ought to be on the booklist for anyone studying or working in the field.

An interesting and useful clinical guide to obesity. Ideal handbook for practitioners, well organised and clearly presented in-depth analysis of the condition and all its issues. A very good resource.

Thorough and informative book, which gives you everything you need to pass the exam, including the mock exam papers. Also useful to keep and refer back to after your studies are over.

Firstly, this is a UK title and so is consistent with NHS practices and standard procedure. As a layman with some medical background I have a lot less knowledge than who this textbook is aimed at. However, I still found it interesting in several parts, as the writing is simple and clear with no extraneous waffle. The layout is dense and text-heavy, as this is a resource rather than a book to browse. It is clearly a well referenced title and will be invaluable to anyone in the field, at any level. Overall a thoroughly professional reference work, and hence worth the price.
