I've never used a turtle 318, however if the filter unit has a compartment that holds small-sized, loose activated charcoal then yes. The charcoal pieces should be small enough to be packed into the filter as a replacement

Yes u can use any form of “activated carbon” for air or water purification. Best method to reactivate at home: Spread used carbon out on baking sheet, place in oven at 250 degrees for at least 1 hour. An alternative: can also use microwave, but this method means you cannot control temperature to ensure every carbon fiber is reactivated properly.
