Acclaimed filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen deliver their most gripping and ambitious film yet in this sizzling and supercharged action-thriller. When a man stumbles on a bloody crime scene, a pickup truck loaded with heroin, and two million dollars in irresistible cash, his decision to take the money sets off an unstoppable chain reaction of violence. Not even west Texas law can contain it. Based on the novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy, and featuring an acclaimed cast led by Tommy Lee Jones, this gritty game of cat and mouse will take you to the edge of your seat and beyond right up to its heart-stopping final act. There are lots of violent parts, well paced thriller.
Watched over two evenings, found it very slow paced, but I liked this, lot of shootings among Gand members over drugs, acting top rated, loved Josh brolin who finds the drug money then has to keep ahead of drug gang leader played superbly by Javier bardem, a very evil man. Will have to watch again in one sitting, as it was so entertaining, bit paced like Paris Texas movie, but didn't detract from this film, highly recommended viewing.

Don't expect everything to make sense - as in life!
This film is, in fact, much better than I recall. It is slow and seamless until the last third, and the direction is brilliant. The role played by the assassin, however, remains a 'art house' mystery, which sort of works for the first half of the film, but with the introduction of the Woody Harrelson character, whose purpose is equally unexplained, the narrative then falters and fast-forwards, with some odd developments. I suspect some of this is down to trying to create a literary film, which doesn't always work. It is certainly much better than most other Cohen brothers' films, possibly their finest.

Classic thriller - great acting, great production, great direction
This is one of the best films I’ve seen for a long time. The acting was superb. The three lead characters were clearly defined and very different. Javier Bardem as the psychopathic multiple killer Anton Chigurh was quite outstanding. Almost every time his face changed expression, the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. The story basically is about a man finding a suitcase full of money and deciding to keep it. Simple, straightforward stuff. Almost every scene builds up to a blood stained climax or a narrow escape. The minor characters are well done too. Mrs Moss played by the lovely Kelly Macdonald was charming and Woody Harrelson was excellent as a rational hitman. My only problem with this film is the ending which lacked resolution (as others have pointed out). In one way, this is not important - there was never going to be a ‘happy ending’ and justice was never going to be done. In fact a happy ending would have been out of place and probably ruined the ‘existentialist’ message of the film – which seems to be ‘life is a bitch, get on with it’. Be that as it may, I was left unsatisfied at the end, which may reflect more badly on me than on the film. All the same, because of the sustained brilliance of the direction, script and film making, I would strongly recommend it.

Do not read the book first!!
I am very glad that I did not read the book before seeing the film. This is because the film is very faithful to the book and would have spoiled the surprises for me. However, there are two very significant events near the end of the film that the book cleared up for me. The film well-deserved the four Academy Awards it won. Josh Brolin was also excellent and perhaps even underrated as Llewelyn Moss. Scottish actress Kelly MacDonald was also amazing, as was her West Texas accent as his wife Carla Jean. Tommy Lee Jones was as always a great pleasure to watch. His character of Sheriff Ed Tom Bell was a much more low-key character, although very significant than his U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard. The character does not offer a chance to participate actively in any of the film's many scenes of action and violence, although the opportunity does present itself on several occasions. Javier Bardem is just stunning as Anton Chigurh, the most chillingly evil film presence since Hannibal Lecter. Even the smallest roles of the supporting cast were well-played. Woody Harrelson is great in a brief appearance as Carson Wells, who is sent to seemingly reel-in or subdue Anton Chigurh, although the film does not offer a very clear explanation of his character or actions. It would seem that the character was sent on a damage control mission. The Academy Award winning cinematography by Roger Deakins presents a great look at the harsh and inhospitable landscape of West Texas. I only wish I had taken the time to see this great film on the big screen. It will stay with you long after you see it. It demands repeat viewings to fully appreciate. It is brutal and shocking, yet fascinating. I haven't been kept in such suspense and tension by a film for a very long time.

Yes Country For The Coen Brothers
For many a year, Joel and Ethna Coen, have been giving us the dramatic, the tragic, the action, and the humour, and No Country For Old Men is no exception, especially on Blu-Ray Disc. Based on the American Cormac McCarthy's novel this picture follows the story of a simple texan man, Llwelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) who happens to stumble upon a drug deal gone wrong and a case full of millions of dollars, it all seems to good to be true, it is. Moss is brutally and mercilessly hunted down by Anton Chigur, played by the electric Javier Bardam, who mind you bagged an Oscar for this, all the while Tommy Lee Jone's Character investigates, the story focusing on the contrast between his compassion and goodness and Bardam's brutal, violent and seemingly unstoppable reign of terror. Not only has this movie won several Academy Awards but it has also captured my focus, it's somewhat a typical Coen Movie, you have the dashes of action, the antisipation of story, and the hints of humour. It is exceptionally well-shot and in blu-ray the visuals get the best possible portrayl, crisp, tender and utterly tantalizing picture will have you imersed like you've never been imersed before, the sound too is fantastic, shots wizzing past and fantastically balanced audio will have you on the edge of your seat. If you enjoy the Coen Brothers you'll no doubt enjoy "No Country For Old Men", a masterpiece. 10/10 Picture - If you havent seen it, go now, if you have, go again. 9/10 Audio 10/10 Acting 8/10 Story - The Film does not stay true to its novel, entertaining none the less i assure you!
