Dune [2021]

Not only is this a great movie, but it has excellent video quality stunning on a 4K OLED TV!

One of the best movies ever made. DV did an incredible job portraying such an incredible fantasy tale. Can't wait for part 2.

This third iteration of Frank Herbert's classic science fiction classic is pretty good, but I disliked the fact that although it is quite long, we do not see the end because there is a part two, Therefore, I gave it only 4 stars. I would encourage people to read sci-fi novels and/or see them in movies because they often not only tell us a good story, but the futuristic science in the tales and the futuristic behaviors make us think. I know of people with high IQs who like sci-fi for these reasons. For example: In this film, we could be prompted to think what we would expect of the messiah. Will he/she need help? Will the coming of the messiah be accompanied by war and deaths? Other things that this film prompted me to think about include the relationship between prophesy and dreams, is there such a thing as a proper “holy war,” what is the meaning of “holy,” what are the requirements for leadership, relationships, concubine vs. marriage, being forced to betray, use of drugs, the prevalence of superstition and the need for it, what makes a hero, consequences of fear, and more.

This version of "Dune" directed by Denis Villeneuve is legit the bomb! Timothée Chalamet absolutely crushed it as Paul Atreides. And Rebecca Ferguson had me totally buying into her Lady Jessica. Zendaya was straight-up fire as Chani, and can we talk about Oscar Isaac? Best. Duke Leto. Ever. Seriously, I've seen other versions, and no one does it like him. Stellan Skarsgård was nightmare-level creepy as Baron Harkonnen, and Jason Momoa? Dude was electric as Duncan Idaho. The visuals? Mind-blowing. The music? Gave me all the feels. And the way they took that monster of a novel and turned it into something we can follow without a PhD in Frank Herbert? Boss level. Haters gonna hate. They'll nitpick the tiniest things because that's what they do. But with so much awesomeness packed into this film, they might as well pack up their weak sauce arguments and take their beef to the DMs. Because "Dune" is so very watchable and could be your next fav.

I don't have a bad word for Amazon's efficiency in delivering the movie on time. They were great. But I did not like the movie itself. It was a parade of self-aggrandizement.

The movie really slows down and "stops" about halfway through. The performances are tepid except for Jason Momoa who breaths ethos and life into his character, Duncan Idaho. He acts circles around the other actors who seem to be just going through the motion (picture) and be done with it. Very tepid and boring performance from Timothee Chalamet who plays Paul Atreides. It seems as though the whole movie is beneath him as he doesn't project life into his character. Of course the special effects are good and the si-fi "technology" is there but without a good script it falls flat. Many fascinating details from the book have been eliminated and should have been included. And the persona of the main characters has been changed to reflect our woke culture as has the character of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood. Bland is the word. It seems a though the movie was designed for a sequel as it ends about halfway through the original story.

Film sam w sobie genialny! W końcu godna adaptacja Diuny (chociaż nadal wiele scen książkowych nie znalazło się w filmie). Wersja pudełkowa DVD przyszła przed czasem (oczekiwany czas dostawy: 7.09-19.09), a płytę dostałam wczoraj (30.08.). Płyta przyszła zapakowana w foli i została dostarczona bez uszkodzeń (pudełko w stanie idealnym, płyta również) Polecam również sprzedawcę (jest kontakt i na spokojnie dają odpowiedzi). Minusem jest brak śledzenia, oraz brak informacji o zapłacie cła podczas odbioru paczki (08,20), ale poza tym wszystko w jak najlepszym porządku.

A visually stunning film with an incredible soundtrack and atmosphere. The cinematography is breathtaking, and the world-building is deeply immersive. The cast is strong, and the pacing feels deliberate but engaging. The only drawback is that it ends rather abruptly, clearly setting up the next part, which leaves it feeling incomplete on its own. Still, a masterpiece of modern sci-fi cinema.
