Highly recommended
Very small. Attractive design. Windows 10 Pro and Home detects and configures it automatically on my desktop and laptop. Rotary volume control has nice, weighted feel when rotated and controls output level of headphone out and line out outputs. Headphone amp has plenty of power (capable of providing very loud listening levels with both Etymotic Hf5 16 ohm earphones and Shure SRH144 32 ohm headphones). The sound output when connected to the USB outputs of my desktop monitor was marred by popping, crackling noises, but apparently this is due to instability of the power supplied by USB "hub" type outputs. Connecting the device to a front panel USB output of the system unit wired directly to a motherboard header solved the noise issue. This is a limitation with any USB powered audio device and is not a fault inherent to this product. The tone control adjustments allowed (treble boost or bass boost) are not subtle, but might be just about right for playback devices that exhibit a clear deficiency in either reproduction of treble or bass response. I've only had the item for a day, but it seems to operate exactly as designed and advertised, and it solves the problems I had with the headphone output of my laptop and desktop monitor soundbar - too little output level for some sources and a nonlinear (bass deficient) output response.

It works.
Bought this cause I needed something cheap to bypass on-board audio with bad hissing. It works with no hissing at all. Have played around with the treble boost boost a bit as I've never really seen a treble boost. The treble boost will fatigue your ears like no other thing in the world. It's fun though.

Headphone hiss. Also it broke.
Update: after it sitting on my desk for a couple months unused I gave it another shot and after a few hours my left ear got zapped and the left channel hasn't worked since. Headphones are fine and computer headphone jack is fine. It's just this DAC that broke. Headphones plugged into the headphone jack have significant hissing noise, presumebly from electric interference, and it is noticeable particularly at low volume. I've noticed that different headphones have different levels of hiss. The overall sound is more interesting than the mediocre output from my work PC, but the static hiss is annoying, especially because I mostly listen with the volume way down. Plugging my headphone directly into the PC has no hiss.

Sounds good but frequently disconnects
Works well sounds better than the built in sound card but it constantly disconnects and has to be unplugged and re-plugged in.

It is what you would expect for the price.
I like the product, The bass, treble and balance selector works well. Its okay for the price but if your using very high end headphones I might opt for something more quality. There is some background static when the volume is turned up and no sound is playing. Its not great but if all you need is a headphone jack possibly because your normal jack is broken, its a decent replacement.

Exactly what I needed!
Since my work computer's sound card sounded like it was decades behind the times, I was in need of an inexpensive solution to have better quality audio at work through my decent earbuds. At $20, this is the least expensive USB DAC/AMP that I could find based on what I was looking for. No need for a portable one, and no need for a powerful amp as I rarely listen to them loud. In short, this thing is wonderful for what it is. Clear audio, and pretty well balanced on the flat setting. I do like to use the bass boost for added low end when listening on low volume. No distortion as far as I've turned it up for myself. At that point, people around me would be able to hear what I'm listening to. Unit is plastic, but the quality isn't bad. The audio in jack isn't flimsy, and the volume knob is smooth and solid. Awesome.

Worked great until static charge killed it
Works great. My Dell XPS's 3.5mm headphone jack was broken so I tried a USB Adapter. It sounded like crap. So I realized I needed some signal boost. So this DAC with a built in Amp worked great. I wish the treble and bass controls were a bit more gradual, rather than a 3 setting slider switch. Also, I killed it because I slid my feet across the carpet while sitting in the library and created a static charge capacitance which discharged from my ears, into my One More Triple Driver earphones, and into the DAC. As EVERYONE knows, MOSFETS (transistors likely used in this DAC) being trans-conductance devices, are very sensitive to current changes (static discharge counts) and I suppose I killed it. It was also really loud in my ear. So now only the left earphone works when using the DAC (they work fine in other devices , so thankfully this DAC took the hit instead of my earphones) So my WARNING is, if you have old shoes with very slick, almost plastic soles or are wearing polyester socks, DO NOT SLIDE ACROSS CARPET WHILE USING THIS DAC. you will likely kill it if you slide too much or are not grounded properly. If this was a more expensive DAC, using BJTs (bipolar junction transistors) rather than MOSFETS, this wouldn't have happened, but they're a lot more than $20 I'm sure.

Big value for a dac that's as small as a box of matches!
This matchbox-sized unit had all the basics specs I needed to upgrade my desktop computer; 24bit/96khz capable, volume & tone controls, SPIDF OUT, and USB IN (to power it AND bypass the PC's weak soundcard). Noticed an immediate difference when swapping between the PC's headphone jack & this tiny nubbin (sounds quiet & clear like my LG phone dac), and the LED's are small & unobtrusive. Toss it in your laptop bag for on the go too. At $23 bucks, this is an above average chi-fi audio upgrade. Update 11/15/21: Got the S/PDIF out cable to connect to my old Pioneer AVR and it worked flawlessly. This is the cable I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T8HWVEY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1#:~:text=to%20zoom%20in-,FosPower%20(10%20Feet)%2024K%20Gold%20Plated%20Toslink%20to%20Mini%20Toslink%20Digital%20Optical%20S/PDIF%20Audio%20Cable%20with%20Metal%20Connectors%20%26%20Strain-Relief%20PVC%20Jacket,-Visit%20the%20FosPower

This unit appears to be working correctly however it sounds far worse then my normal PC sound, it is also limits the sound level from my PC, it is like having put some cotton wool in my ears. Whilst I have a very good PC I was expecting to need this to drive my Beyerdynamic headphones. Perhaps the unit I have is defective because it is awful, please do not waste your money on this item. The Syba SD-DAC63116 is very good and far better the this smaller DAC.
