After reading many reviews on several different curling irons I decided to go with this one by IKV. I was specifically looking for a 1.5" extra long barrel for my long, thick hair. I had a regular length curling iron with the same width barrel for quote some time but decided it would probably be easier to curl my hair more quickly with one that had a barrel long enough to accommodate the length. The iron heats up quickly, has digital temperature controls, the cord comes with a velcro strap for storage, and to me the pressure of the clamp is just right. The pressure is neither too much where I am it is dragging and pulling and I am unable to slide the curling iron down the shaft of my hair as I curl, nor is it too light where my hair just slips right through. Once my hair sets and the curls fall a bit I have beautiful loose curls/waves all day - the exact look I wanted to achieve and expected from the bigger barrel. I did read some reviews that mentioned the clamp lever was situation at a bit of an odd angle that made it tiresome to use the iron and clamp for extended periods. I did not find this to be bothersome to me and preferred this "problem" over other reviews I read about other curling irons whose clamp lever was too weak and flimsy and ended up bending completely. The only feedback I would share with the manufacturer is that the tip of the iron could be a bit more substantial to protect from burning one's fingers. Then again, the iron did come with a glove for heat protection and this personal preference did not influence me to consider changing my rating. If you're looking for an extra long barrel curling iron the delivers on performance and quality without costing a fortune, I would strongly suggest this product even over some of the more expensive brands.

I air dry my hair to prevent heat damage. Unfortunately it’s more frizzy than wavy….until I break out this bad boy. 5 minutes of wrapping my hair around this iron & TA DA….. beautiful waves with zero frizz. Does not burn my hair. Heats up fast. Has a digital/push button heat control which is fantastic. I like that it is longer than average. Great price. Easy to handle. Really a quality product. Curls last. I can make the waves tighter or looser. It’s quite versatile. I also bought the smaller one for more curly curls. But this one is my everyday go to. Trust me, worth its weight in gold.

Broke after less than a month of use! Wow! I probably used this a total of 10 times, and the screw holding the clamp on came out, and I couldn’t put it back together. Past my return window by one week. What a bunch of garbage, and very disappointing.

The curling iron heats up quickly, which is really the only major positive I found. Unfortunately, the overall design has several issues. The iron is quite heavy, which makes it tiring to hold for extended periods. When I set it down, the barrel feels top-heavy and doesn’t rest securely on the small built-in stand, so it’s always tipping over. The barrel itself is smooth, and I didn’t experience any snagging or pulling, which is a plus. However, the clamp doesn't grip the barrel tightly, so there’s very little tension when I try to pull my hair through. I have fine, thin hair, so that might be part of the problem—but even so, the lack of tension made it hard to get a proper curl. I understand that a thicker barrel doesn’t always mean better curls, but in this case, the low tension meant my hair barely curled at all. This product might work better for someone with thicker hair, but it just didn’t do the job for me.

This may feel a bit awkward and take a bit of getting used to but it does a great job of smoothing. With this size barrel don’t expect curls. For that you need a smaller size.

I know this curling item did not receive a lot of good reviews but i was pretty certain it was what i needed and am glad i bought it. 1 1/2 inch irons are difficult to find and i have wavy wiry hair that requires direction and this works beautifully. Smooths out wiry frizzy stuff . However, i see how it could be difficult for someone who was not real experienced with large irons. Besides the larger barrel, the length of the barrel itself is quite long (they do include a glove for protecting hands & fingers). I am a experienced hairstylist who has worked with Marcel Irons thru my career and that helped a lot. A marcel iron does not have a spring clamp to hold the hair in, it's loose and you continuously feed the hair thru the barrel by loosening on the clamp and rotating the iron. That's what needs to happen with this iron especially if you have long hair. You keep pressing on the spring clamp (to lift it and loosen the hair) and rotate the iron as you work. It may be difficult for those without that knowledge but i know many of you are experienced with irons. So, hope that helps.

A little thicker than I needed but seems like a great product, very fast to heat up and came with a glove.

I have thick, curly hair that needs a bit of refining when I let it dry naturally. This has done a perfect job leaving me with smooth curls. Couldn’t be happier. Used on 180 degrees setting which was plenty hot enough to achieve the result.

Love it. It came thicker than expected but when i tried it i loved it. Gave me like a nature wavy beach.
