Perfect for Toddlers with Speech Delays — Engaging, Calming, and Educational
Our 3 year old daughter has a speech delay and isn’t speaking yet, but she loves this Alphabet Acorns set. It’s one of the few learning tools that consistently grabs her attention. Even though she can’t say the letters, she’s able to recognize and point to the correct ones when asked, especially when we give her two choices at a time. She enjoys opening each acorn to discover the mini figure inside, and the tactile play really helps her stay calm and focused, especially during transitions or new environments like speech therapy. We even brought it to her first session with a new therapist, and it helped settle her down almost instantly. The pieces are high quality, colorful, and perfect for little hands. And when we lost one of the mini figures (the Leaf for the letter L), Learning Resources’ customer service went above and beyond and sent us a replacement. That kind of support means a lot. If you have a toddler with speech delays or sensory needs, this set is a fantastic option. Highly recommended!

Great product but can’t see the Purple letters...
Let me start by saying I want to give it 3.5 stars. It’s better than just “okay” but it’s got plenty of room to improve. Overall, I’d buy it again! Pros: Very cute. Well made. Acorns are easy to open and close. The box will make it easy for storage as long as I don’t let my toddler get rough with it as kids often do. The object pieces are very cute for the most part, I like their texture and it arrived quickly and in good condition as expected, with nothing missing. Cons: 1.The purple letters are almost invisible on the brown plastic. Like seriously hard to see. I have 3 windows in my living room and use the natural light during the day with no issues. It’s not the brightest lighting but I never struggle to see, as I did with those purple letters. The purple is so similar to the brown which sounds odd but they just blend into each other. Unless the acorns are tilted up toward the light. If sitting vertically on their base, I found it hard to find the purple letters on the acorns. I don’t recall seeing any mention of this issue in the reviews I read prior to purchase but it’s a legit/annoying issue and something the manufacturer should improve at some point. 2. I wish the W and the M weren’t both the same color. One of the games brilliant features is the acorn tops/colors are clues to que little ones to help narrow down the match possibilities with subject pieces. Example: The orange Queen piece is a little ambiguous and could also be a King—however, the K acorn has a purple top, meaning it corresponds with a purple figurine, while the Q is orange! So it’s obviously a Queen. Brilliant!) So... the letters W and M are confusing to my toddler. (As are N and Z. An easy mistake in both cases as they are so similar in shape, it’s simply a matter of the direction they’re in.) So when trying to find the acorn that corresponds to the GREEN Whale, seeing both a green M and a green W acorn is a little confusing when finding a home for the whale. Makes sense, right? If we had a red M and a Green W there’d be less room for confusion (and it’s another opportunity for her to see that though they’re sort of similar, M and W are two distinctly different letters and not interchangeable as they appear in this game.) 3. (This is less of an issue and more a wish list:) I agree with other reviewers, there are a couple odd choices in some of the object pieces as stated in previous reviews. Example: Koala bear for K. I agree “Kite” would be easier to distinguish as Koalas aren’t that commonly seen and this solid colored, tiny figurine, sorta looks like a mouse. Speaking of mouse...I’d suggest that over the current mitten for the letter M. The sail boat for the letter B? Eh...I guess? I’d personally go with a little Bear. Maybe a lion for L instead of a leaf which I initially stared at dumbfounded thinking it was a spade (as in playing cards, lol), hubby also couldn’t guess it until I told him. In all fairness when you get the unopened kit, the pieces are grouped together in plastic bags, not with their corresponding acorns so it’s a guessing game that very first time you organize it.) There are a few others that are hard to figure out or wouldn’t be your first association but over-all it’s functional and is collectively very cute. Final note: The smell people commented on. Yes it’s there. It’s like a subtle, slightly skunky smell, which I dont think is that bad. Cat pee is much worse which someone mentioned. I don’t get that from this particular package. And it wasn’t so offensively strong that we couldn’t enjoy the game. In fact my husband didn’t even notice at all. I was probably aware bc I specifically sniffed for it after reading reviewers’ warnings. Anyway...hope this helps the manufacturer for potential improvements someday. It really is very cute and I want to give it 5 stars but it’s not quite there...

Good for learning both uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as learning letter sounds.
My 2.5 yo twin grandsons are beginning to learn their letters, and love container play. This will be perfect for them. It is true as others have mentioned, that some of the tops initially don't snap on easily, but I think they will stretch over time, and do go on well enough. All of the pieces in my set were enclosed in bags under the acorn packaging, and there were no missing pieces.

Cute and almost an hour of fun
Currently playing with her acorns as well speak while watching Mrs. Rachel. The main reason I bought these because this is my grands favorite part of the show. The only thing is that as she's following along with the show the items in some of the acorns are different so when she is working on sounds its different. But that is okay nothing major. We just make up new words and scenario's for the items we do have. Overall this is her most favorite and fun learning toy that she used in her little classroom.
