Review: Best earth science book ever! - My husband is a retired earth science teacher. He is often asked to explain geological features. I was looking for a book he would enjoy when I came across this one. I loved the images....they are amazing. He is excited to pick up new pieces of information or to see old ones demonstrated in such great images. Everyone that looks at it loves it and refers back to it over and over. It has become our coffee table book. But since my husband teaches these things we also understand it is accurate and educational. A great book for your own learning or a gift.. Even kids will like it as the pictures explain it all. Review: Another masterpiece! Excellent! - Another masterpiece! Ten pounds of lovely photos, drawings and, best of all, explanations! This might be able to pry your kid away from the PC/phone obsession for an hour or two. All the DK books are heirloom quality. Priced like it, too, but after you get the books, you forget about the price.

Great illustrations and a great resource
Bought this for my 86 year old father in law who used to be a geologist and he’s always talking about rocks and how he wishes he still had his college books. He really enjoyed this book and it kept him busy for days, and he’d show us stuff and talk about it. Good to keep his mind active. I found it interesting as well and I’m sure any kid interested in earth science would find it interesting and useful. It has great illustrations. Science books are getting harder to find.

Awsome book, had 5 damaged pages
This is a beautiful book. I got it on a black Friday deal and it was worth every penny. There are 5 pages that have some manufacturer damage, hence the 4 stars. Altogether it was a great deal!!!

Not as great as the other books of the series
Compared to the previous books of the "The Science of..."-series this one is the weakest. It's smaller than the other books and the topics are less clearly explained. After reading a chapter, you dont feel like having too much of an understanding of the topic. I think that the explanations in the other installments of the series were more accessible. On its own the book is still very good, just a little bit of a let down in the context of the series.

Delivery failure
The product received in damaged condition for the second time. Amazon and delivery partners need to be careful when delivering such excellent books which are heavy and call for special handling. This is not reflecting on the quality of the book which is a collector’s item.
