Laguna Max-Flo 600 Waterfall and Filter Pump for Ponds Up to 1200-Gallon

I have a 2000 gallon pond. My old Laguna 4280 lasted 6 years plus. It finally died. Bought the the exact same model to avoid changing any plumbing and wiring. Working perfect for 10 days so far. Expext it to last 5+ years. The pump did get damaged during shipping but the pump still worked fine. The pump had a dent on the edge and the front cage got damaged with two of the latching screws being broken. I just used my old existing cage and that worked just fine.

Replaced an old pump. Works well. It runs 24/7 except in the winter.

Do NOT purchase! I put this in my pond yesterday and it worked fine at first. When I woke up today, the pump was not running. I thught the ground fault tripped but no, the pump was dead in the water. Not only that, TWO OF MY FISH WERE DEAD, and the remaining 6 fish were all at the top of the water with their mouths out of the water trying to breathe. They were totally lethargic, not even trying to move away when I got to within inches of them like they normally do. Turns out they were electrocuted! When this pump failed, it was putting an electrical charge into the pond and this causes fish to think they can't breathe underwater. YES, this is a thing, google it: "pond fish electrocuted can't breathe" ("Electrocution can cause fish to die from lack of oxygen because it completely disrupts their brain function, preventing their breathing reflex from working.") Luckily I caught it in time and unplugged it before the rest of my fish were dead. After around 20 minutes, they came back to life and started swimming and breathing normally. But two were dead already before i got there. Something inside the motor of this unit came loose or frayed and caused the unit to become "hot" with electricity. POOR QUALITY, This should NEVER happen with a pond pump! I will be contacting Laguna about this.

Great pump. We have a large pond with 4 ducks. Easy to rinse out the sludge. Great value. The design keeps stones and rocks from getting stuck.

This particular pump stopped working after less than a month...I cleaned it thoroughly and replugged in...worked for a second and then no more...Consider it defective. ADDENDUM 6/12/25: contacted Chris at Webb Water gardens and he walked me through REPAIR and restoring full function. Adjust my review base on this to a "4". I have used only LAGUNA pumps for about 20 yrs and this was the 1st to fail prematurely - others lasted for about 3-4 yrs. This 600 pump was smaller than others I owned but still suitable for the size of my pond. Thought I'd save a little money... The 800 pump would have been a better choice. Thank you, Chris.

This is hands down the best pump I have used for my application, which is a notoriously difficult one: ducks. I have two Peking ducks that produce a LOT of waste into the 4' x 4' pond they are in, and this little pump takes on that challenge like a champion. Continues to work regardless of the work load it is exposed to. Maintenance is a breeze, there are four yellow plastic screws that hold the outer shell together (which does a great job of keeping things out of the propeller of the pump). I wish they were made of stainless steel, because I have to be very careful as to not strip them with a metal flat head screwdriver. Regardless, the pump comes out of the shell and separates into several easy-to-clean parts, and is easily reassembled. This pump really does check all the boxes of a great design, minus the shell screws. I would recommend spending the additional money on this pump in order to save the money of replacing the cheaper ones, and fighting with trying to maintain them as well.

This is replacing a 12 year old laguna pump that finally died. The previous pump was 600 gph so this one (960) was a nice upgrade and added more flow to our waterfall. We have a smallish pond, less than 1000 gal so this was the perfect fit. I didn't realize the old pump was underpowered. Hopefully the quality remains the same and I get another 12 years (or more) out of this one!

The pump can be cleaned underwater while still running! That's a huge improvement on my previous pump. It makes you clean your external filter more often, but that's usually just a matter of running the backwash. You can also rig the pump to remove sludge from the bottom of the pond quite easily. Waterfall flow is less than my previous pump, which was rated at 1000 gph. I expected that, of course.
