I'm a novice and apologize for not understanding - the title of this item mentions both 2.5 mm and 4 mm - which refers to the width, please? Thank you

Hi Penny, 2.5mm is the width of the cane used for weaving the seat. 4mm is the width of the "binder" strand included in the coil. If you are a novice we recommend searching for our "Chair Cane Kit" product which includes detailed instructions. Be sure to use our chart to determine which size cane you need. You can also find more info on our retail site, www.seatweaving.com.

Is this the same type of cane used in the kits to wrap the top of flat reed baskets?

Hello, Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes, it is the same. We also use Narrow Medium but it is the same material for the rim lashings. Best Regards, V.I. Reed & Cane, Inc.

i’m looking for the material I need to hold together pieces of rattan on a peacock chair

Yes, cane is often the material but we have many sizes. If you mean the lashing, that is often Binder Cane, which we sell in 4mm,5mm and 6mm sizes. Thanks!

How much will this cover? I have an 18” diameter round chair seat.

Hello, Thank you for your interest in our products. 270' will do a 12x12" seat. For 18" round, you'll need 2 of these coils. Best Regards, V.I. Reed & Cane, Inc.
