ZAOJIAO Auto-top-Off ATO Solution Auto Water Filler Adjustable Float Valve Mounting for Aquarium Sump

I wanted to write a review because of all bad press these little floats have gotten. (fresh water setup) In the pictures above, you will see where I used the blue tubing kit and I baught the extra tubing just incase I messed up. Runing the tubing (hidden) along behind the shelf, I did put in the (provided) ballvalve to cut off the water at the tank. Under the sink, I used two Ice maker line kits with the taps. One to the hot and one to the cold. This will balance the desired temp to the tank. The line tap valves allow me to adjust the temp and the preasure on the float. (This is the key). If your float bypasses after its all hooked up and full? Simply shut the preasue on the line tap valves. (problem salved). Everything you see, I got with three kits. No extra parts were used. Notice the extra "T" with valve? This is for the ice maker on the fridge. If you are worried about warm water to the ice maker? Science has proven, hot water freezes faster and cleaner. Well! I have a tank for exotic plants which requires a 2-inch level of water at all times. I've tried several of these (they all seem to be based on the same basic design) and found it rather confusing both in terms of the size of the hoses that are compatible and it terms of performance. There are plenty of ways to step up or step down hose sizes, so I won't get into that. However in terms of performance, I didn't find any of these which didn't leak where the hose connects to the float unit. What I did learn after some trial and error, however, is that a little plumbers teflon tape fixes the leak problem straight away (at least it did for my setup). Too bad there are no instructions with this or the other units as it probably would prevent lots of returns. FOLLOW-UP ... once I got this installed properly it seems to be working very well. The plexiglass platform with an adjustable level is definitely the best way to go as compared with less expensive "poke a hole in something" offerings. I would buy this again and do recommend it. Use teflon tape to prevent leakage around the tube-to-unit connector.

Love it! I’ve missed my morning coffee before because I didn’t realize until too late that the reservoir was empty. I’m so glad to have my mornings simplified even one little step more. Great product, bracket worked surprisingly well. I’m working on a way to modify the lid so I don’t have dust, but for now a piece of plastic wrap keeps out stuff.

This is the third one of these I’ve bought. First one has been going strong for at least two years. For me there a must have for my reef tank ato and making ro water in barrels.

This is your typical cheap Chinese float valve that has a rubber gasket to prevent leaking. I tell you that the rubber gasket and/or design is flawed. I couldn’t prevent this leaking straight out of the box. Do yourself a favor and buy some plumbing teflon tape and do a few wraps of the threads to prevent leaks. In addition, this particular model is good for a rimless tank not a frame tank. However, one way to make this fit a framed tank is to use a heat gun (no blow dryer) and heat up the section that overlaps the outside of the tank. You will be able to mold the acrylic to your tank frame…just don’t burn your fingers 😉 you’re welcome! 😝

It rusted very quickly and started leaking water even while maintaining the proper water level. Very disappointed with the quality of the product.

Easy to install and works great. Love how it mounts and the adjustable design.

Doesn't really work

The bracket has been very useful. Unfortunately, the float valve seems to be made of very cheap plastic and it doesn't look like it will last very long. I'm affraid to adjust the position of the float; the screw is very low quality and it seems like a crossthread can happen easily.

No issues at all, installed in 15 minutes and no longer have to top up my sump. Great product.

3日家を空けましたが問題なく給水されてました。水漏れが若干あり、試運転を２日してパッキンを足すなど調整が必要になります。そこを整えると素晴らしい商品になります。
