I really like this shell! It feels smooth, thick, just nice to hold in the hands. Not flimsy like some thinner plastics may be. The color shift is really good too. It comes with all the pieces needed for the shell and plenty of extra screws. The first three pictures are what I had to trim and sand on the inside to get fit the Funnyplaying GBA sp ITA screen. Basically all the inner walls had to go entirely and had to sand away at an angle a little of the screw holes to have just enough to get the fit. It's rough looking, which is to be expected from my first screen mod as I changed shells from my original flame red, but it worked as shown by the last picture with everything together! I'm pretty pleased with myself! Just watch how tight the top screws are when putting it all back together as you can squeeze the corners of the ita screen leaving a little blob looking spot until you relive the pressure, but you can still finesse it tight enough to stay securely closed!! Would be lovely if future versions can consider a way to fit a wider variety screens or a little easier to potentially trim as needed! I made this work because I was determined to give it a try before I jumped to the shells provided by Funnyplaying, and I'm quite glad I did.

I have ordered multiple products from eXtremeRate over the years, and have come to expect a few things from all of their products: a signature ‘soft’ feel, high quality materials, included tools/spare parts, and most of all, STELLAR customer service. My experience with this product was yet another example of why eXtremeRate is the best at what they do. If you want to upgrade your GBA SP with an aftermarket shell: look no further. As mentioned before, the shell has a very ‘soft’ matte feel to it (as opposed to what I can only describe as a ‘squeaky’ feeling from OEM plastic surfaces). I honestly prefer this shell to the original; the quality is THAT top-notch. eXtremeRate made sure to include every piece necessary for a full shell replacement, including hinge caps and screen bumpers in matching colors and even a reproduction label for a fun individual design. This is a complete package if you want to overhaul your SP’s look and feel. I paired this shell with an IPS screen and it looks phenomenal. Upon initial installation, I faced some difficulties with the battery cover (be careful; it is a VERY snug fit). In doing so, I noticed a small defect in that one piece and eXtremeRate was more than happy to send me a full replacement with express shipping. That kind of customer service is why I will always purchase their products. All in all, I could not be more satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend both this product and eXtremeRate as a seller. I don’t think anyone does aftermarket shells better than them.

It was a bit tricky taking everything apart but with the guide it comes with, the picture on the page showing which screws go where, and an hour or so of my free time it came together nicely. The black shell is matte and shows finger prints/ sweaty hands easily so keep that in mind ( i can live with it). Ribbon cable wasn’t too hard to put back either. I saw some people say use the old original screws but mine wouldn’t go in and i didn’t want to strip them so I used the ones that came with the kit. It fits well and overall a good shell!

Relatively easy to put together if you watch their tutorial on youtube. The screws are a little difficult to identify due to being all thrown into one bag. The quality is pretty good, better than the cheap housing you can buy, but certainly not the same quality or texture as the oem shells (this is to be expected with any aftermarket housing). The color effect on the chameleon shell is really cool, I do wish it came in more colors though!! Overall a great product. A bit too pricey in my opinion. One downside of the shell texture is that it attracts fingerprints. Also, I used oem silicone pads in mine. It's recommended to use those instead of the ones provided as they are better quality.

Took a while but easy to assemble if you can follow instructions well. The plastic is a very good quality and the buttons feel the same as the stock console, all the parts fit exactly the same so there are no loose or tight imperfections. Love the unique color and feel of this in my hands.

This was my first ever gameboy and first time re-shelling. 1.Great and easy shelling process!( they provide a clear video to watch) 2. Awesome feel (doesn’t feel really cheap) 3. Awesome colors to choose from! Therefore I am glad to say I recommend extreme rates for your re-shelling needs!

I bought a cheap AGS 101 with a broken shell and reshelled it with this one. I was skeptical cause aftermarket shells always feel cheap. Not this one! This feels sturdy and premium; even with a silicone like texture on the plastic. I used the original screws and it worked just fine. Even got a new set of buttons from the same company.

Be careful not to overtighten the screws. Looks really cool. Its more green in brighter light. The screw covers on the screen side are an aqua marine-ish solid that kinda looks wrong with the purple/green chameleon. It still looks pretty though. They may have looked better if it had buttons that matched. The hardest part was getting the hinge springs out so be careful doing that. Luckily my old shell was already broken.

C'est beau, ça brille (et ça prend facilement les traces de doigts aussi) Il y a plus de vis que besoin, pareil pour les ressorts de gâchettes, ainsi que la petite barre de soutien gâchette. Idem pour les plastiques cache vis de l'écran. Les tournevis dépannent, mais il vaut mieux utiliser un tournevis pro pour éviter de défoncer l'empreinte des vis. Le tutoriel de démontage/montage disponible via youtube et sur le site d'extremerate directement (qr code présent dans la boite) est qualitatif. Je remarque que le prix à monté de 10 euros quelques jours après ma commande..
