Quality Quarter-Turn Shutoff Valves
These BrassCraft shutoff valves are exactly what I was looking for. The construction feels solid and well-made, and installation was straightforward. The quarter-turn handle operates smoothly and makes it easy to quickly shut off the water when needed. I trust the BrassCraft name, and these valves provide a secure, leak-free connection when installed properly. Buying the 4-pack is also a great value if youโre replacing multiple valves or want to keep a few extras on hand for future plumbing projects. Overall, these are dependable, high-quality shutoff valves that Iโd definitely purchase again.

Standard compression valve install - no teflon needed
First, this product comes with the copper squeeze ring and the surrounding nut for both the 1/2 connection with the incoming water, and the 3/8th connection towards the faucet. It's essentially the same as the single Brasscraft 1/4 turn valve you'd get from Amazon or Home Depot / Lowes. Second, you don't have to remove the previous compression nut, and can re-use them. Out of all the things that could fail in the connection, the previous nut is definitely not it. What does fail, and the reason you're replacing, is the crappy old style valves that require multiple turns. Mine started dripping at the connection, are impossible to turn, and one even completely fell apart during a shutoff, forcing me to turn off the water main at home. The build quality of this thing is fine. The longest installed one is one year in my home. I've bought several of these and installed over time to replace valves that are gradually starting to fail. For installation: there is no need to use specialty tool to remove the existing compression nut. However, you must tighten the compression nut as hand tight as possible to ensure there is no leak. Hand tighten is all you need. Once your wrench stops moving from typical human pressure, it's probably fine. One gotcha is that you might need 2 large adjustable wrenches to do the job because you need one to hold the valve in place. And these wrenches need to be large because the 1/2 in nut and the valve itself might be too big for most regular sized wrenches. That's it -- good product, good price. If you're gonna buy 3, might as well spend a little bit more to buy this 4 pack.

Good price for 4 valves
These shutoff valves are pretty standard. I used one to replace a shutoff valve frozen by corrosion. I used the compression bead and nut from the discarded valve. Since a compression bead is deformed when originally installed, I had to use pipe sealing compound smeared on the old compression bead, and I applied the sealing compound on top of the 3 wraps of sealing tape around the threads. So far, no leaks. With that said, the US needs a new standard for shutoff valves at sinks, toilets, and other water appliances. The current standard shutoff valve will corrode over time and become inoperative in moderately hard water. Several of the shutoff valves in my 40 year old home are frozen. I'll have to replace them one at a time when the sink, toilet, etc needs maintenance.

My favorite shut-off valves
These are my go-to shut-off valves. I much prefer to have these over old-style washer seal systems.

Just what DIY plumber needed!
Installed these 1/4 turn valves to replace some old ones and they work great. Much smoother and easier to shut on and off compared to the older style valves. Everything fit well, no leaks, and they feel solid once installed. Definitely a good value for the money and Iโd buy them again for future plumbing projects.
