Hyde Tools 09165 Dust-Free Drywall Vacuum Hand Sander with 6-Foot Hose

This Dust Free Drywall sander by Hyde Tools is super effective in keeping sanding dust to an extreme minimum. I had to sand a 5 foot by 3 foot section of ceiling after skim coating it. I dread sanding in general because of the amount of dust even for a small section of wall or ceiling . I found this hand sander dust collection system sander on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Before using, I still covered the floor and doorway leading to the kitchen with plastic sheeting. This is very easy to assemble and with the included adapter, I was able to connect the included 6 foot hose to my 6 foot Shop Vac hose for a total of 12 feet in hose length, which is perfect for ceilings.During sanding, I immediately noticed there was no sanding dust flying around. No cloud of dust. There was no dust/powder on my hands, forearm, face or any part of the body. Not even on the ladder, floor and wall. I literally could have sanded without using plastic sheeting, goggles and my N95 mask. I actually enjoyed sanding because this dust free sander. Clean up was a breeze and sanding project was successful.I highly recommend this dust free sander to anyone who dreads sanding due to the dust. I set the suction set at maximum so yes, it takes more effort to move the sander around, especially on a ceiling, but the handle is large enough to use two hands simultaneously to make it easier. The trade off for a quick easy clean up is worth it. The included 150 grit sanding screen was sufficient for this project. I stopped to rinse the screen once to unclog it to restore effectiveness. Also, before sanding with a screen, ensure the drywall compound is 100% completely dry otherwise you get those screen lines as other reviewers have stated.

One of the most difficult things to do -- if you have a spouse that over the years has put up with the mess you created in the house when doing stuff-- is doing significant repair stuff within that house that is fully furnished. Without covering everything within the room with layers of dust. Especially when the main reason your spouse hates when you do that stuff in the first place, is exactly that issue. The buildup of white construction dust everywhere.I recently had to do a plaster wall restoration and repair on a 100 plus year old plaster and lath wall which required the widening of about 20 foot of cracks to a V, securing the wall with plaster washers and injected adhesive and then filling and plastering over the repairs and large areas of the wall with old school patching plaster. Which in the end requires one to coat and sand a large area that took up about 65% of the wall's surface. Basically about 4 to 5 hours of sanding due to the hard surface of the plaster when it dried to smooth the surface and feather the edges so the repair blends perfectly into the rest of the wall.This tool allowed me to do that comfortably by hand and to my total surprise, do so pretty much dust free. And when I state "dust free" I am not saying that for the most part the dust from the work was noticeably reduced. I am actually saying that the work I did with this tool was genuinely about 98% dust free. This thing is as basic as it gets. But when hooked up to a good shop vac, it just point blank works.To the handyman and DIYer types that do things on a budget or do repairs in smaller areas, or painters and woodworkers that spend time doing a lot of flat surface sanding by hand, dollar for dollar this is one tool you need to get and use. It simply makes your job cleaner and healthier. Highly recommend.

This product does an amazing job keeping drywall dust down, no doubt about that. It loses a star because there were really strange issues with getting it to connect to my standard shop vac. There was no way to attach it to the hose. My hose attachments were the exact same size as the hole for this so I had to silicone tape it to the end to get it to work. Even with that. It did a great job.That being said, this isn’t an essential tool. This can be great for an area that can’t be closed/sealed off. But if you are working inside a room with a door, skip it. You’ll have to clean regardless. And while yes, the dust is significantly less with this, the attachment also makes sanding 10x more exhausting. It’s heavy and drags and requires you to sand in specific positions. Maybe it’s just me because I was working within a bathroom with multiple corners. But I stopped using this after the first sand and WOW was it easier and was less exhausting.Again, great product when you’re in an open space. But if you’re in an enclosed space, leave the shop vac running to try and reduce the dust in the air and save your energy for cleaning after

Definitely a win when paired with a screen sander for DIY drywall work! Drywall dust gets EVERYWHERE, and this makes sanding and cleanup so much more manageable.A heads-up: it may take a little finagling to get it attached to your particular shop vac, but once we got ours situated, it worked well.And do yourself a favor: get a fine-particle/drywall dust collection bag for your shop vac and remove the standard filter! That super-fine drywall dust will clog a regular filter ridiculously fast and shoot back out.We do quite a bit of wood, metal and general home-improvement DIY around our house, and this is absolutely worth having in the arsenal. Less dust floating around, less cleanup afterward, and a much nicer way to tackle drywall sanding.

This is an amazing tool! When combined with drywall sanding screen mesh sheets I was able to do a terrific job on two different drywall repair projects. You don't need a super powerful vacuum, either. I used it with a Milwaukee Packout vacuum that has a fleece bag installed and in combination with a Milwaukee Compact Debris Separator. Even with that set up, the vacuum was able to collect most of the drywall dust. I had tried a Craftsman vacuum powered sander many years ago, this tool is far better. I highly recommend that you give it a try.

Bought this for a basement remodel. It worked pretty well at keeping the dust down. It connected easily to my vacuum. It was easy to use. The only thing I didn’t like was the harsh texture it left on the wall. Ultimately, I had to go back over it with a regular sanding sponge to get a clean and smooth finish.

I was very happy and surprised how well this works. We had to move back into our house before all of the drywall work was complete so I was putting off finishing that work. This attachment was easy to use and totally delivered. It is lightweight and a good size. It can get a little unwieldy at times because of the hose, but I was able to adapt. As long as your vac's filter is clean, it is very powerful and actually sticks to the wall! A good value for what you get and it is virtually dustless. I managed to sand and paint three rooms in two days with just about no dust.

So far I like it. It makes a huge difference in the amount of drywall dust. The thing I don't like is it does work very well in corners. A corner attachment would be nice. The only other issue is keep an eye on your hose. It disconnected from the vacuum once, and I didn't notice it until the dust started to pile up.

Was hesitant buying but it's incredible how well this stops the dust. There was almost no dust in the room after sanding entire new bathroom and closet build. Wouldn't do drywalling again without it. Worth every penny!

Brilliant! Saved me a heap of time having to tap up drop sheets and whatever else to protect the home from dust. Need to work a bit harder vs using an electric sander, but NO CLEAN UP, no more than you need to regardless. Just keep the net sander clean and not build up with plaster dust that clumps together, and you'll be fine. This was great for a big job, would be even better for small jobs! Everyone hates cleaning! Used with a cheap shop vac held itself to the wall, regret not getting it sooner!

Va da se che non va bene per un uso professionale perchè alla lunga stanca la levigatura a mano. Purtroppo il foglio abrasivo in dotazione è durato pochissimo strappandosi in corrispondenza delle mollette di aggancio. Forse il costo è un pò eccessivo per la qualità in se ma per quello che ci devo fare non aveva senso acquistare una levigatrice elettrica molto più costosa.

It's great, does exactly as described, have been using it sanding down patches of filler and painted walls, plugged onto my Bosch vac it does make life a lot easier with all the dust being sucked up and not floating around the room. The supplied mesh pad will last a little while but rolls of sanding mesh can be bought easily enough. Have tried using sanding paper but figuring out where to picture holes in it can be cumbersome. All round though a great purchase.
