VIVOSUN Digital pH Meter TDS EC Meter for Water 0.01 Accuracy Hydroponics

After reading several reviews on this and other similar models I decided on this two pack PH and TDS. I recently installed a reverse osmosis under kitchen sink with a tds digital display and wanted another way to check its accuracy along with what ph the RO water was putting out. Item arrived quickly and after reading instructions I decided to give it a test. Batteries were already installed and additional batteries were included so that and they both were already calibrated so two pluses from the start. I filled a glass with reverse osmosis water and another from bathroom sink. Tds for bathroom were 107 compared to RO water of 9. This is the same reading my RO system shows so I assume its pretty accurate. Next I tested the PH. Ro water was higher than bath sink water but this units numbers jumped around a bit. Although the numbers did not display steadily i was able to get a good reading and am pleased with the results. For the price I find the two units a great bargain and much better than the water test strips I was using. After my initial tests I highly recommend these products as they appear to be accurate and easy to read.

If you’re looking for an affordable way to check pH, TDS, and EC without spending a lot of money, this is a great option. It gives you several useful readings in one device and is much more convenient than buying separate meters. The readings have been consistent for what I need, and the auto-calibration and temperature compensation make it easy to get started without a lot of messing around. The display is easy to read, and having the hold function is a nice bonus. For the price, I really don’t think you need to spend more unless you have a specific reason to buy a higher-end professional meter. This one gives you the important functions at a fraction of the cost. Definitely one of those purchases where you get a lot for your money.

Updated review: They work pretty well. You must calibrate them! The tds meter was way off and it doesn't come with calibration powder. The pH does. You can make 1 cup of each solution and store it for later use (I assume. I have saved it for later but only calibrated once so far) I bought this set as a backup. I dropped my main ph pen and broke the tip so I've been forced to lean on these. I calibrated the tds meter using my main tds meter and it's off by about .015 or so and that's good enough. The pH meter so far has been pulling it's weight.

This product was sent to me with only the PH tester. It didn't come as a combo like advertised and I can't find any instruction on how to contact the company for customer service or to re-up on calibration packets. The ph tester only came with one 3-pack of calibration powders. I would have liked more. Unfortunately the tester would not calibrate to exact numbers of the oh in the packets so I am unable to be sure if the ph in my water is where I want it to be. And with no extra packets to try and recalibrate I'm at a loss. During the calibration process I was able to get as close as .37 which seems tiny but, when I'm trying to ph my water between 5.6 an 6.1 which is what I like for dry amendments to coco coir I can easily over or under ph my water resulting on less than optimal plant uptake of nutrients ultimately resulting in less than optimal harvest of fruit and flowers. What I did to compensate for the poor tool was also purchase a soil on tester to use in conjunction with this device in order to fine tune my oh readings. I can't say enough about this company. They are amazing!

The pH meter ended up being basically useless. I carefully followed all instructions. It took a lot of time and frustration to successfully 3-point calibrate it. After calibration it seemed to be partially accurate but it would take 2+ minutes to provide a reading. Even then, it would start about 2 points above the real reading then slowly keep drifting downwards at a rate of roughly 0.01 per 1-2 seconds. It would never “land” at a reading. After a week of use I gave up on it and just went back to using chemical pH tests because those only take a fraction of the time to get a ballpark reading. The TDS meter was a little better. As I said before I followed all instructions carefully regarding usage and proper storage. For the first month of regular usage (used 1-3 times per week) it worked great and exactly as expected. Then the temperature readings became unreliable. I have other digital thermometers to compare it to and this device was consistently off by about 5-10 degrees fahrenheit which made it useless at that point. The TDS portion of the blue meter seemed to be accurate and mostly worked until the end of the 2nd month. Then it would randomly behave strange. I would test the same sample of water 3+ times over 10 minutes and the ppm reading would fluctuate by 10-40 ppm. Or sometimes I would test two samples of water from my fish tank taken about 24 hours apart. It would read out exactly the same as if the meter was “frozen”. I know that isn’t accurate as the 2nd sample would be taken 24 hours later after a fish feeding and a plant fertilizer dosing. So it’s highly unlikely that it would give an identical reading for the 2nd sample.

I purchased this set to monitor my hydroponic solution strength and pH. The EC meter just stopped working after moderate use after one year. I also didn't like having to switch from PPM to EC every time I turned it on. I also noticed the readings were different when I switched from C to F. I think the pH meter is accurate enough for my needs. I calibrated it once a year and it didn't veer to far off. I mean the price is reasonable enough that I can buy a new set, but I shouldn't have to.

5 Stars — Convenient and Accurate Water Testing Kit This VIVOSUN digital pH and TDS meter kit has been a very useful addition for checking water quality and monitoring pH levels. I’ve used it for pool maintenance and general water testing, and both meters have been simple to operate and easy to read thanks to the clear digital displays. The pH meter responded quickly and gave consistent readings after calibration. Great product

TDS meter are working fine but for the PH meter I personally don’t arrive to fully calibrate it as all the time I do the PH 7 then PH 4 and when it’s arrive to do PH 9 it’s return to PH 7 so impossible to complete the calibration.
