A serious back-saver for long driveways
I live at the end of a long, gravel driveway and moving two 96-gallon township carts to the road every week used to be the most dreaded chore. The Garbage Commander dual-can hitch turned it into a quick, no-sweat task.Itโs solidly built from heavy, powder-coated steel and feels like itโs going to last. Assembly and setup were straightforward, and once adjusted, the arms grab the cans securely and track nicely even around curves. The swivel top is a clever designโlets the cans trail behind without binding or tipping. With two full bins it feels completely stable, and when I only have one to move, sliding the bin to the center works great.I also use a couple of bungees across the lids to keep them shut during the ride, which Iโd recommend if you donโt want trash or recycling blowing out. The detent pins that lock the cans in place are quick to use and give peace of mind that nothingโs coming loose halfway down the drive. One small inconvenience (not the productโs fault): I canโt just leave the unit on my UTV full time because it blocks the dump bed. When I need to haul firewood or use the bed for other chores, I pop the hitch off. Not a dealbreakerโjust something to keep in mind if you want it โalways on.โAll told, this does exactly what it promises and does it well. For anyone with a long drive and heavy cans, itโs absolutely worth the investment.

Nice solution.
Have to take our cans up and down a fairly steep road to a central pickup location. This works nicely. I feel like the cans are secure and it pivots a bit to allow some turning. Our recycling can is only picked up every other week. I like the fact that with this one carrier I can tow both can or just one can alone by using the middle two racks. Seems well built. Iโll update in a year after I see how it holds up.I just bought some wire lassos to keep from loosing the detent pins that secure the cans to the frame. Too bad they just donโt include those in the package. Also no receiver hitch pin with this. You will have to buy one separately if you donโt already have one for the receiver hitch on the vehicle.

Big improvement to holder!
This garbage can tow rig works very well, with one minor problem. The spring clips that are used to keep the can handles in place while towing are a pain to use, especially in inclement weather. The tight quarters you have to work them in does not help. I thought there must be a better way, and I found it right here on Amazon! I found straight spring pins (with retention lanyards) and they fit perfectly in the 1/4 inch holes in the can holders. They are a breeze to push in and pull out, and they do exactly the same job as the original spring clips with a lot less hassle. They are all stainless steel, unlike the original clips which were starting to corrode, and they are pretty cheap, to boot! Much improvement!

Very sturdy can hauler for a receiver hitch
I have had this product for almost a year now. This thing is very sturdy and heavy duty. It will pull two of the standard size wheel cans that your trash company provides at a time even loaded full with pretty heavy stuff. I think short of filling your cans with lead shavings or something you should not have any issues with weight. My drive is about 1000 feet long and just gravel. I have very little elevation change so I canโt speak to how well hills are handled. The arms that pull the can are adjustable if your cans are bigger or smaller. Note that the cans pretty much need to be the style of can with the wheels and the two bars style pull handleYou can pull one can at a time as well, youโll just want to use the two center hooks instead of the outer ones. Some have complained about the arm swinging around when the cans are not evenly weighted, I would say I have not experienced this issue myself, I have had a nearly empty can and a full can together and not had an issue. I wouldnโt say itโs impossible but you would have to have a very huge weight difference. The one thing I will echo in the product description is do not ever back up even a little bit with cans attached. This is for forward pull only. If you reverse it immediately starts pushing the cans upright which applies pressure up towards the arm. If you keep going it will break the device and the cans will go under the vehicle. If you need to reverse for any reason you will have to stop, unhook the cans and get turned around before hooking the cans up again. All in all a very sturdy product that works well

Great design!
This item is very well built and very effective in taking garbage cans down a steep driveway and even a steep road to the garbage pick up. I highly recommend this. This was just what I needed.

Great!
USED ON MY 2024 RAV4. So far its been a month and my only worry is making turns. Make sure you buy a bumper protector for both sides that will scrape your car other than that its great. No more hauling the trash down my long driveway

Super flimsy construction, not built to last at all
We purchased this item due to our trash company informing us that they would no longer pick up at our driveway. We have about a .3 mile haul each way on a very well maintained dirt road. Since purchasing the device has warped and twisted and is essentially falling apart. The construction materials for this item are VERY cheap. I have twisted the metal back into shape several times with my bare hands. I wish this device was built better, the concept is good, it works for the most part.I have had this less than 6 months and it is about to be put into the trash.
