#1 desertcart BESTSELLER - PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY NATIONAL BESTSELLER - Discover an easier, more balanced way to meal prep as you whip up 100 fresh and healthy dishes that happen to be gluten-free, from the creator of the popular blog and YouTube channel Downshiftology. "Lisa has revolutionized meal prep to be approachable, fresh, and easy, and her cookbook has everything you need to make healthy eating a breeze."—Emily Mariko, TikTok creator Before Lisa Bryan began meal prepping several years ago as a way to save time and money, she quickly became tired of eating boring leftovers and wasting food. At the same time, she also wanted to "downshift" the too-fast pace of her life. So she flipped the script on meal prep by focusing on individual ingredients. By prepping a handful of healthy ingredients at the start of the week, she learned that she could enjoy a variety of meals and snacks without getting bored. And she found she could control what she ate with more clarity: It became easy to eat more vegetables and simple proteins, eliminate processed foods and gluten (to manage her celiac disease), and reduce refined sugar. Her debut cookbook is packed with 100+ simple and ingenious big-batch recipes that can either be frozen or repurposed into totally different, delicious meals. A dinner of Coconut Chickpea Curry with rice can be enjoyed the next day as a tostada at lunch, and a side of peas and crispy prosciutto becomes breakfast when you add a jammy egg on top. The recipes are all free of refined sugar, many are naturally anti-inflammatory, and dairy is minimal and optional. Lisa's approachable method for eating well and preparing meals with ease will inspire home cooks to downshift their lives, too, by making healthy meals without a fuss. Review: Great for dairy free diets! - Everything is very tasty! I’m dairy free & have trouble finding cook books that suit by diet. This one has mostly dairy free recipes, and everything with dairy can be modified to be dairy free. Most recently, I made “chicken breasts with tarragon cream sauce,” which I think was intended to be a healthier play on a beurre blanc (without butter or wine). The recipe called for plain Greek yogurt but still tasted great with cashew yogurt! Instructions are easy to follow, not too difficult, and the seasoning is flavorful. Tons of pics with the recipes. I would definitely recommend this book! Review: The BEST Meal Prep Cookbook - Hands Down! - This is one of the most organized, helpful, well thought out meal prep cookbooks with stunning photos! I literally want to make every single recipe in this book, and it makes me happy that all of the recipes use every day ingredients. I also find it funny that a few reviewers have said it's not really a meal prep cookbook because there's straight recipes. Umm, that's literally what big-batch cooking is! It's meal prepping a single recipe to enjoy several times throughout the week. I'm constantly doing that with Lisa's recipe for chili or lentil soup. Single ingredient meal prep where you mix-and-match things (which the other reviewers seem to be alluding to) is only ONE way to meal prep. Big batch cooking and reheating leftovers is another way to meal prep. Lisa actually explains this on page 13-14 of the book (it seems many didn't actually read the intro). I have several meal prep cookbooks, including Skinnytaste Meal Prep, and that book only does straight recipes. Lisa did so much more! She breaks down individual ingredients and how to prep and store them, then tells you how to mix-and-match individual ingredients (or prepped ingredients along with some recipes) as she shows in her YouTube videos, and finally how to make big-batch recipes to enjoy for several meals. I personally love to have meals like these in my freezer! If ever there was a meal prep cookbook that *finally* knocked it out of the park with recipes that are healthy, delicious, and exciting, it's this one! Happy to buy more copies for Christmas gifts now.

Completely perfect - waiting for book two!
I am gluten and dairy free to help manage my endometriosis and was thrilled to find recipes on Lisa's website which eventually led me to this book. Throughout my journey I have found many cookbooks written by women who share my diagnosis or diet and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading their stories and following their recipes until I know them by heart. I adore them all but this book stands out for me because I haven't had to change a single thing when I prepare each meal. Usually I have to adjust ingredients as I learn the recipe but with Lisa's recipes I follow them exactly and they turn out perfectly delicious, no future notes for changes. Even my husband has commented on how delicious the meals have tasted. As a plus they aren't very time consuming she somehow manages to combine delicious meals with easy prep and cook time. I will continue to use her cookbook and follow the website but hope she comes out with another cookbook! Even though we have technology at our hands I prefer a hefty cookbook at my side while I cook!

Wonderful, Tasty, Healthy Recipes and Useful Meal Prep Info
I have been watching Downshiftology on YouTube for a few years, and the cookbook is a welcome continuation of that. The recipes are gluten-free and emphasize whole foods, rather than processed foods. Lisa is a proponent of meal prepping in batches and then combining the prepped components into different combinations throughout the week to keep it interesting. She includes information about how to select the best food from the grocery store (what to look for), different ways to prep and cook it, and different ways to use it in different dishes, as well as storage tips, so she offers a lot of versatility, in addition to traditional recipes. Although the recipes are gluten-free, they are not low carb. For example, rice, potatoes, and legumes are all naturally gluten-free but high in carbs. I follow a low-carb diet, so I simply use substitutions like riced cauliflower instead of actual rice or zucchini instead of potatoes. The recipes are all simple and easy to customize to your liking. She’s a proponent of prepping from whole foods (e.g., spiralizing her own zucchini noodles or making her own hummus), but I don’t have the time, equipment, or energy for that, and that’s Okay too. You can buy pre-spiralized zucchini noodles at many grocery stores, for example. It’s more important to remove any potential barriers to healthy eating than to try to follow everything verbatim. The pictures are beautiful and inspiring. My husband was really struck by the cover picture of a shrimp dish, so I bought the ingredients and he made it that night, which has never happened before from a cookbook. Something random is that many of the pictures have the food on a white marble counter, and I kept mistaking the spots in the marble for stains on the pages of the book, but that’s not really a critique, just something I noticed. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced cook, I think you’ll like this cookbook. Give it a try, and see how much better you feel when you eat healthy, delicious food.

Literally the best
Years ago, I Googled a recipe for something and she popped up. It was the absolute most delicious meal I had made in a while and very easy to put together. I didn’t know who she was and had no intention of looking up more from her. So, I didn’t. To me, she was just another random person who offered recipes. Then, another day came and I googled for something and another one of her recipes popped up. Okay, I thought, looks good. And…sure enough, it was absolutely delicious and easy. That happened again and again. Long story short, over the last 5 years or so, the most delicious and easy meals I ever made all came from her recipes. Literally. Every. Single. Recipe. So, I decided to look into this “random” woman and see what she’s about. I didn’t realize she had such a following…but she does…and rightfully so. I just read the beginning of this cookbook and sifted through every single page. Here are my thoughts… 1.) What a beautiful and well thought out cookbook. She has a way of presenting each meal and making it look mouth wateringly irresistible. She also has a way of providing simple and clear instructions. Nothing about her meals or the prep feel overwhelming to me. 2.) I cannot WAIT to try every single recipe in this book. I legitimately already know that they will all be amazing. 3.) I always look for 1 star reviews when I really love something, to see what people could say. We’re all different right? She absolutely talks about meal prep. So, not sure what those people are talking about. And for the one person who talked about it having odd ingredients or ones that aren’t typically in your cabinet - that’s a you thing. I feel like the reason she got thousands of 5 star reviews are because her target audience are those who DO stock these kinds of foods or who want to. Every recipe looked delicious to me and none of the ingredients struck me as odd or silly to have. Lastly, you shouldn’t give her a 1 star for a damaged book. 4.) Try any of her online meals, any one of them, or 2 or 3. You won’t be disappointed and then if you so choose…buy the book! 5.) I feel like a fan girl. I really like Lisa, her story and her recipes. Thank you Lisa! Update: I’ve had this book for 4 days and have already made 3 of the meals. All delicious of course…and…my toddler loves them too! She just ate her entire bowl of the bean and artichoke soup! I honestly am excited to make her meals!

Great, healthy cookbook
I love this cookbook. It’s easy to follow and the recipes for the most part are delicious! And genuinely healthy/low calorie. I’ve had to alter a few recipes that needed a little more flavor, but that really just comes down to personal preference.

An abundance of Gorgeous photos of food by my favorite YouTube chef.
I have been watching Lisa Bryan on her “Downshiftology” channel on YouTube for several years. I really value the whole food ingredients and the quality. I appreciate how she is not just concerned about excellent nutrition, but also in the presentation. She is very clear and easy to follow! It’s amazing that this book is Not just a repeat of her YouTube channel. I have made many recipes from her YouTube channel and printed them off from her website, but this book contains a lot of new recipes. I have bought several copies of these books for Friends and Family. She also has great tips about using leftovers. My favorite thing about this book is the abundance of photos. I like to know what the recipe is supposed to look like. You’ll have to excuse all my blue sticky notes in the photos. That’s how it was marking my favorite recipes.

Damage book
Book is delivered with visible damage on two places + dirty/dusty. It looks like the book was on the shelves for a long period not protected from the dirt/dust. Packaging for books should be better not cardboard envelope.

Healthy glutenfree cooking made easy
Lisa makes cooking gluten free meals easier and more fun! She also is great at giving many ideas about how to prepare and construct meals before hand which is what we, modern busy people, need. The book has beautiful pictures, suggestions for storage and substitutes, not to mention the nutritional value of each meal! As transparent and clear as possible, that even beginners can do magic!
