Mostly like this painting set…
This is a fun little set although I like some parts more than others: The watercolor pencils can be used directly on the supplied paper and water added after. They can also be used to create watercolor paint by drawing on pallet and mixing with water. This technique creates very little paint at a time (very small pallet paint wells) which is great for avoiding big messes but means you have to make multiple mixes of the same color paint. This is slightly annoying and makes it harder to get the color to be consistent. The painting paper is good quality, and it would be easy to cut more pieces from standard sheets of watercolor paper when the included pieces runs out. The watercolor pencils should last for a while. The stencils are good quality. One has generic shapes while the other is for making faces like those characters in the pamphlet. The pamphlet has basic instructions for use and example projects. The paperboard frames come disassembled and are difficult to fold into shape. I am not a fan of the frames. The mini easel is cute but is for display purposes and not for holding the paper while painting/drawing on it.

SmartLab Toys do not disappoint!
I've ordered many products from SmartLab Toys and love each more than the last. This Tiny Art kit is so adorable and tiny, yet so functional. My son has created numerous "portraits" so far and has so much fun with it. It comes with a handy little guide that teaches you about different art techniques. The hamsters as guides are adorable. My only gripe is that the frame to put around the portraits are difficult to assemble, but this is still totally worth it! Great as a stocking stuffer.

Tiny Painter's Set
My significant other loves to paint, he also enjoys tiny things. So this seemed like the perfect surprise to add to the random assortment of painting stuff in our house. Everything about this is adorable, from the mini-easel to the little paintbrush and everything else. Is it practical? Maybe not, unless you enjoy working in miniature (which he does, I personally do not enjoy it). This is really more about the novelty than actual legitimate use though. Cute for a gift and definitely sure to bring a smile. Review by M. Reynard 2022
