Osprey knocks it out again with this great book on wild weasel operations, starting with the origins in Vietnam to the final deployment to the middle east. An absolute must have book for anyone who's ever even seen an F-4 Phantom.

Air defenses have become progressively more dense and more lethal since the Second World War. The author provides a short history of air defenses, especially that of the Soviet Union, before getting to his main topic, a dedicated U.S. aerial platform for the suppression of enemy air defenses. The U.S. Air Force experimented with a number of aircraft in that role during the Vietnam War, before settling on the F-4 Phantom II.The author has done his due diligence in the archives and especially in interviews with former air crew. The result is a very detailed narrative of operations over Vietnam, Central Europe, and finally Desert Shield/Desert Storm. The text is nicely supported with lots of period photographs and modern illustrations and air operations diagrams. Well recommended to the student of modern air warfare.
