It is an unwritten fact that not all power adapters are the same because there are those are superior to others and fortunately this is one of the best adapters out there. The adapter goes for $79.00. This is an incredible price bearing in mind that the power adapter works as advertised. It is admittedly pricier than generic adapters but that shouldn’t make you shy away from making a purchase because you can be assured that the adapter will work. This is in contrast to the generics since you can never be sure whether or not they will work. Our house is not all spacious and this magnetic adapter’s DC connector ensures that my netbook is in place should someone trip on it and also weakening and fraying of the adapter will not be as serious/critical compared to a normal corded adapter. This is a worthy replacement adapter. Cords will fray more easily and quickly compared to this one. Cords can only handle so much and they will wear and tear at the slightest sign of pressure. This is a handy travelling buddy that is also compact. It is a no brainer that an orange light indicates charging and green indicates full charge. You don’t even need a manual to operate the adapter because everything about is pretty straightforward and I don’t foresee anyone getting frustrated because they can’t seem to correctly use the adapter. There is an AC cord if you need a longer cord. If this is not value for money then I don’t know what is. I believe I would buy this same adapter if the need for the same ever arose since I have already derived value for my money. I can’t talk about its durability but I know for sure that it won’t last forever. This is a given with all adapters eventually. The only difference between this adapter and the corded adapters is that the corded adapters wear off quickly compared to this one. It is a genuine product. Need I say more? Apple is a working horse in the computers stable and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this adapter works as advertised. I don’t have a problem recommending this adapter to anyone looking for an affordable and quality adapter for their MacBook pro. Highly recommended!!!

I acquired this so I could power the various MacBook models which come my way, since it provides enough power for all of them (AFAIK). It works really well, has a total cable length that is quite generous, and can also be used without the thicker power cable. Using it with older MacBook models will need Apple's MagSafe to MagSafe 2 adapter. However, its downside is the cables, especially the thinner one that connects to the laptop. The normal 'coil it up and go' practice tends to result in the eventual failure of the thinner cable where it has been repeatedly flexed and or tightly coiled. Since the thinner cable (unlike the thicker detachable power cable that plugs into a standard power outlet) isn't designed to disconnect from the adapter box, failure of the thinner cable generally requires purchase of a new power adapter. Taping it up to "fix" it isn't a safe practice, and sparking inside the cable can result in disaster if it occurs without someone noticing. I think that Apple should reinforce the cables near the end points. Until Apple improves the cables, prolonging the lifespan of the overall power adapter system requires a relaxed approach to coiling/wrapping/pulling the cables, most especially near the ends where tight bends stress the cable the most. One good practice can be to use a large ZipLoc bag (or something of similar size) to hold the adapter and cables, so the wiring isn't sharply bent. Carefully wrapping the wiring (especially the thinner cable) with good-quality electrical tape at its connection points (i.e. where it meets the laptop and also at the adapter 'brick') for at least a foot can help minimize the sharp bends. You can get a much longer lifespan out of this item (and get much more use of it for your money) if it's treated well, so handle it with care.

This is an update to my review from just yesterday, read below. I contacted the seller with little hope of any help but with no questions asked they issued me a full refund. They did not demand that I return the defective product or issue any challenges about why it took me so long to report the problem, they did not treat me like a liar trying to get over on them, but like a customer whose satisfaction matters. I would have been happy to receive a replacement, but I am satisfied if this makes them feel more comfortable. The product does in its appearance seem to be a genuine apple MagSafe 2, and it did appear to be brand new, and so I think it's likely a fluke. I plan to see if there's a nearby enough Apple Store where I can seek another replacement, again, before the beat up one I have goes dead on me. But I would be willing to take a risk and purchase from this company again if I can't find one because I really have a lot of confidence in them based on their very fast response to my concerns, which was in a matter of just a few hours. This review is not for the product in general, but for the specific one I received. I bought it because the MagSafe adapter I had is pretty raggedy, and I didn't want any delay time between when it gave out and when I got a replacement. I am not in a position to go too many hours, let alone days, with a dead computer charger. However, my original charger still has not given out even now. But, I went to use the new one I bought and it worked to charge my computer once, and then it didn't again. The part from the wall to the adapter works on the other charger, but the part that plugs into the computer just does not. I purchased an apple brand because it gave me confidence I wouldn't have any problems. I never took it out of the packaging but stored it until I used it a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, I'm outside of the return window, so I may be just out of $75. I'll update this post if I'm able to figure out a way to get in touch with the seller and get this resolved regardless of the window. Would be great to report that the seller took responsibility.

My original MagSafe Power Adapter stopped working after approximately 3 years, the outer sleeve of the cable that runs from the brick on the power supply to my MacBook got cut somehow (maybe from bending it too much over time). With the tear in the sleeve, it caused an inconsistent power connection to my MacBook, and therefore would no longer provide a charge. I looked around at multiple vendors on the web. I came across some vendors that estimated 2-3 weeks for delivery, I came across vendors who just did not have them in-stock, and I came across Amazon who not only had the MagSafe Power Supply in-stock, but offered two-day Prime Shipping, and was selling this Power Supply for about $10 less than any other website I came across. It is very important to me that I purchased and received a genuine Apple brand MagSafe Power Supply, I would not accept any sort of knock-off or aftermarket Power Supply. Considering the fact that I was able to purchase a genuine Apple brand MagSafe Power Supply, receive the two-day shipping with my Prime Membership, and pay $10 less than any other vendor that had these at the time? It was certainly a no-brainer for me. This MagSafe Power Supply arrived in the original Apple packaging in excellent condition, I verified that it is working properly and as expected!

Great product, but heavily flawed -- esp one aspect that affects longevity -- cord interface with the body of the charger. Apple, it would not break your billions-profit projections this year, to introduce a bit of extra silicone where the charge cord meets the body of the charger. That 5mm grommet nub currently used does zero to prevent extensive damage and loss of charge capability with reasonable care. This appears to the cynical to be a a guarantee that the solution involves spending another $80 to replace the entire unit after less than a year in the field. I use The Fray Fix to address this, which is a product that makes money off Apple's intentional (for lack of evidence otherwise) oversight. Rather than a year, your charger with a Fray Fix will last nearly indefinitely. I don't know anyone who packs the MagSafe or MS2 chargers into laptop cases, laptop backpacks or briefcases, that does not have at least one MS charger with a frayed cord right next to that charger body nub. Some have even used layered wire heat-shrink insulation to do the same thing -- although IME it doesn't prevent cord kinking forever (it will kink eventually)... where the silicone conical grommet of the Fray Fix is better able to handle cord stress by design. Even worse is the fact that the sharp edges of the flip-out cord wrap tabs will also fray the cord over time -- don't use them, not at all... very bad for cord maintenance. Pro: very, very scary knockoff industry out there, esp on Amazon -- don't settle for anything less than an identical unit to your genuine MagSafe charger. Aside from the cord issues... it's a solid, elegant, and compact design considering its output. Con: Ridiculously expensive, even aside from the cord-forcing-replacement issue. I wish Belkin would make a rival charger just for Macs... but am betting Darth Apple is fully legally-equipped to kibosh that (not to mention a non-Apple charger may even void your warranty? Not sure). Have been a Mac user for 15 years now, and don't plan to leave... yet. Things like this that remain unfixed for political reasons really turn me off in the Ive Apple era.

The only reason I have ordered three is not that they break or fail to work, it’s because I need them in three different places! My charger always arrives in authentic Apple packaging with the Apple logo in all the right places. I have read the other reviews condemning and complaining about this adapter, but it’s the real deal for me. Originally, when I decided to get a spare, I dreaded it thinking that it would not work if it weren’t identical to my original from 2015. I was hesitant at looking at the less expensive chargers, and spending a few pennies to work on my every expensive Mac was not even an option for me, but the first OEM charger worked perfectly at $89.00. The MagSafe 2 Power Adapter is a perfect replacement for the original or as a back-up power charger. It has a very long cable and goes a long way. Originally I researched other vendors who didn’t stock them. But with my Amazon account and two-day Prime, this was the perfect scenario for me. So, over the past five years, I have purchased two additional power adapters, and they work perfectly and all at a great price. I purchased a genuine Apple brand MagSafe Power Supply, it arrived in two days with my Prime Membership, and it was less expensive than other vendors. It works as perfectly as expected!
