Faulty Scanner
Please do not buy this item, the scanner cannot be charged at all. Tried using latops, pc and power socket with original and other USBc to no avail. Typical chinese switch and bait tactic.

Inexpensive and functional
Fast shipping, functions well, is cheap. 5 stars and will update the review if any issues pop up. Bought this to scan a stray domestic bunny I caught. Tested it on 4 cats and 1 bunny known to be chipped. It scanned all of them rapidly, accurately and with ease. I didn't have to hunt around for the chip or struggle with positioning. Other reviewers have mentioned that the unit beeps and that it's loud or frightened their animals. Some very skittish animals may be bothered, but all of my animals are used to the sounds of human life. None of them were bothered at all. The unit's audio UX is actually thoughtfully designed and musical. It has a little square-wave synthesizer chip so it can output a range of tones, and it has different short patterns or melodies that indicate status changes: "I'm on", "I'm going-to-sleep", "You pushed the button", "I scanned a chip!", and "Try again". For $20 this did everything I need and doesn't feel or act as cheap as it looks. If you plan to use this heavily, like in a small vet office or a rescue, I'd be cautious about sterilizing it. It's probably not resistant to alcohol wipes or moisture intrusion, for example. I'd wrap it in plastic.
