I've always had problems with power strips that had their plugs spaced too close together. Inevitably I'd always find myself having to carefully arrange the larger wall warts at the end of the strips so that their long back ends didn't cover other plugs. This one is great because it can hold multiple large wall-wart style plugs without blocking outlets and making them useless. I like this design so much that this is my second one. I use one behind my living room entertainment console for my TV, cable box, sound system, etc. and this new one is for my office where I have computers, lights, computer monitors, a TV, and some musical equipment plugged into it. The form factor is really nice too. Yes, it's a bit wide and deep but no larger than it needs to be and the sleek design ensures that it isn't an eyesore even if you can't hide it under something. I don't use the cord management piece and think it's useless because of the orientation of all my plugs so I removed it which is easy. I've also never used one of these things to hook up a cable cord but apparently you can do that as well. The fact that it's gray and the material it's made of make sure it won't show the dust that'll eventually cover it. The color also ensures that you won't pull it out after a few years and find that it has yellowed like just about every power strip or surge protector I've ever had. This is worth the extra money compared to a run-of-the-mill white power strip you can get just about anywhere. The one problem I have with it is that the cord that connects it to your wall outlet is tilted at a 45 degree angle. What that means is that the cord won't lay completely flat against the wall unless you plug it into an outlet that is to the left of where you place the surge protector. It's not the biggest deal and after a few weeks I see that the cord is settling into place nicely and isn't an eyesore but if I had to find anything to criticize about this item, the odd angle of plug would be the one single thing. Another thing I just noticed is that you can close the positive and negative terminals. I forgot about that when I got my first one. As a father of a one year old, this is a great feature. No need for plug protectors in your power outlet because they already have it built in. There's no covering for the ground terminal but that's not the dangerous hole anyway. Overall I'd highly recommend this. I don't get excited about power strips at all but this thing impressed me.

If you are like me and have many gadgets with a big plug this is very good use for them. The side plugs are well spaced out, and allows more space for the small plugs. This also cuts down on extension cords for me because I no longer need to use all of them since they just all fit into one now. I'm so happy with this product. I can't really tell you anything about the phone plugs or anything because I don't use them since we have wireless internet and everything, I just know it does what I bought it for and is more than I hoped. Also it is a good price. The length of the 6 feet one would probably work just as well, but I noticed for some reason it is a little more expensive. I first found out about this from my brother. Except he bought the other one. When I looked at the other one, it had sold out. All I need it for are my gadget by my night stand. I plan to buy another for my tv entertainment center and my computer. Oh also the plug on this is a sideways cord so if you plug it on the top it leaves the bottom plug on the outlet open, so you get more room. I plan on buying another one sometime next week. I ran out of plugs :( Well I still have some side plugs open, but I want to save those for my other media devices. Anyways, I need 1 for my entertainment system, and another for the computer area. Buying 1 next week, and the other sometime later :D This is a great product! ok so this is really sweet! we had are first power surge today in a while, so I got to test it on the power surge. The tv and everything that was plugged into this stayed on and I was able to continue watching the movie, the computer and everything else however... was plugged into the wall and turned off... still sweet I was able to continue the movie with everything else off :)

Looking much sleeker than the photos convey, this item has great form, but it's the functionality that really sets it apart. I've used many power strips in my long tenure as a geek and can say this is the best I've used so far. It might be premature to give it a 5-star rating, since I'm unsure of the longevity, but if the typical cheapo grocery store strip lasts years, this one will no doubt as well. First off, it is very flat and wide which looks/feels nice. The low-profile makes it much easier to get otherwise bulky power supplies and plugs underneath things such as coffee tables, nightstands, etc. It has a nice color as well, but again, the functionality sets this apart more than anything. The plug layout on this couldn't be better, in my opinion. It has a center row for standard cords, but has 6 spread-out plugs for larger "wall-wart" type adapters. I got fed up with my standard strip in my bedroom -- which could not handle a lamp, telephone, mobile phone charger and MacBook power adapter -- and thought this would serve as a secondary strip, but I was able to plug in everything I needed with much room to spare. I'm going to buy 3 or 4 more of these to replace the power strips throughout the rest of my apartment! They knocked this one out of the park. Highly recommended. UPDATE 1/1/2016: I've been using these same units I purchased around the time of this original review, and they're all still working perfectly. I've had several issues with power glitches in my building, and these have protected everything plugged into them. More or less the only power strip I buy now, when I need one.

It is a basic power strip that has functioned continues to function well for me. [Note: before posting this review, I have noted that there have been a number of negative reviews that were posted in 2012. However, I have been using this device since 11/22/2015 without any problems whatsoever. It is possible that Belkin may have poor quality control and that some items are truly defective. It may be that Belkin has improved the product since it was originally released in 2012. Whatever the situation, I can only rate it from my experience and thus far I have no complaints whatsoever.] With the tangle of cords and cables behind my living room television, I needed to consolidate something and that something was the power cords. With ten items to plug in the two six strip power outlets should have been enough. Sadly, given the closeness of the outlets and the size and shapes of some of the plugs for said electric equipment, it took two of these power strips to do the job. Given that there is just one double outlet behind the TV, there was no extra outlet to casually plug in the seasonal fan or space heater and the two power strips added to the mess of wires behind the TV. [Yes. 10 items to plug in does sound excessive, but in our expanding world of media and communications there is an ever increasing hunger for electricity. I have the television itself, the cable box, the cable modem, the Roku, the Blueray player, the router, the cordless phone base, the sound system, the old fashioned VHS (yes, we still have some old movies on video tape), and the HDMI switcher cords jutting out behind the TV. The tangle of cords was getting ridiculous. Ugh!] Enter the Belkin 12-outlet surge protector and power protector. The nine items above plugged in handily to a single power strip and with the wire guide at the end of the power strip, most of the cords exited in a relatively organized fashion. The arrangement of the outlets, with a close row down the center and wider-spaced outlets accommodates more devices with wider dongles at the end of their cords. The outlets also have sliding safety covers and there is a detachable cord management system that is useful. Note: if your dongle is too large to fit through the cord management clip, you simply remove the clip, plug in your device, and replace the clip making sure all desired wires pass under it. The major problem, though, is that unless everything you are plugging in has a standard, narrow plug without a bulky AC/DC converter on the end you will still not have enough room to use all of the outlets on the center strip. Even with ten items I had to puzzle through the arrangement to make them fit. And two outlets are still unusable as they are obscured by the assortment of large power dongles. Things that might help this in Belkin 12-Outlet 2.0 might be: 1) making the power strip slightly longer and wider so that even the center strip of outlets can be spaced farther apart; 2) make all the outlets rotatable so that the orientation can be changed to accommodate larger or irregular outlets; 3) the right angle, low profile plug for the Belkin device itself would benefit from the ability to rotate as well so you do not have to loop the cord around if your home outlet is oriented the opposite direction from where you want to position the power strip. This power strip also gives you the option of feeding in a connection for coaxial and ethernet lines, but I really had no use for this. These might help, however, if you have the right kind of set up. All in all, this item isn't too costly and really helped me organized the clutter behind my TV. Recommended.

I had a rats nest of power strips.. er let's say my other half did ;-) After some of my firsthand life experiences responding to disasters (including our own small house fire due to a Coralife Biocube, Size 14 aquarium catching fire- no joke!) I've been slowly going through our home and fixing potential issues before they become a serious problem. This Belkin power strip is exactly what was needed. The outlets are configured to allow plenty of room for adequate airflow to cool those all too warm transformers as well as ample traditionally spaced outets. The 8' and 10' cords (on the 12 outlet model) are plenty long to mount this strip to wall behind furniture or in our case wire tied directly to the entertainment center to keep the strip off the floor. The 8 outlet model only comes with a 6' cord. The various cord lengths help to make the strip even safer by so many aspects (allowing the cord to be routed so perhaps no child or animal walking by spilling liquids into the powered outlets), no cords on the floor to trip over, etc. Now we can safely move the entertainment enter to clean under/behind with only the single power cord to be concerned with (and a couple cords run to the HDTV...) The Belkin power strip is hefty, but speaks of quality craftsmanship. I highly recommend and intend to purchase several more as the budget allows. Simply, when it comes to our families safety you can't put a price on piece of mind. Update: We now have purchased several and have been very impressed with the ease of plugging and unplugging cords. We have already cleaned up several cord issues and feel safer having these around. Sure, any of them can fail to protect items plugged in, but these Belkin outlets add a layer of peace of mind. Priceless.

Great product - worth the extra money you will pay for it over regular power outlets. I am forever using powerstrips for the enormous numbers of electronic devises which have crept their way into may life.......and now are viewed as indispensable. The plug packs aka the power transformers (the little black boxes on the power supply cords) cab be a huge problem with ordinary powerstrips - they don't fit well and take up 2-3 openings. I am forever juggling with one adapter or another trying to make all of these numerous plugs fit onto my various powerstrips. Not with this strip - everything fits. There is plenty of room for 6 plug packs on the sides and another six ordinary plugs in the center. Better, yet, the fit is very tight meaning the various plugs do not slip out. Such is particularly important if, like me, you have buried your cords via the grommets on your desk and would need to crawl under the desk if something becomes loose - not a whole lot of fun if you have an arthritic knee as I do. The last thing I want to do is crawl under the desk to see what is the problem - typically a lose connection. These connections are tight. There is also coxial, ethernet and phone jacks built in. I have used these as well - esp in conjunction with feeding various wires into the desk or hutch grommets. Speaking of grommets on the desk - one cannot have too many. I had a man come in to my home and add several custom-installed grommets into my desk and work table which was probably the best $50.00, I ever spent - cleared the the rat's nest of cords from my desktop and worktable. Said cords are now all buried out-of-sight and securely plugged into this fantastic surge protector outlet. This item is well worth the extra bucks to buy a high-quality powerstrip - probably not a whole lot more than what an ordinary strip plus all of the necessary adapters (to accommodate the plug packs) would cost.

En general no he tenido ningún problema con el producto. El diseño en general no es muy bonito, pero es funcional pues puedes poner diferentes conectores en diferentes posiciones lo que evita que se pierdan enchufes por la distribución de los conectores. Tiene unos LEDs indicadores si esta conectado a corriente y si detecta que el enchufe no esta aterrizado. Además me gustó que el cable para conectarlo a la corriente es bastante largo. En general, recomiendo el producto.

I ended up getting another one of these while they were on sale. However I think even at regular price this is a good value, quality made, surge protector. The best thing about it for me is the number of widely spaced outlets. It seems like most of the things I'm plugging in have some form of "wall wart" that overlap the neighboring outlet(s) when plugged in to any one of my regularly spaced surge protectors. The outlets on this model are spaced far enough apart that I'm able to make use of them all, making this my most useful surge protector. I don't have to worry about blocking any outlets and there's a row of regularly spaced ones running down the middle for any standard plugs. The main wire is thick and the whole thing seems well made. The protection guarantee is also one of the best/biggest I've seen on comparable products. The high joule rating and the fact they're willing to "put their money where their mouth is", so to speak, enhances my peace of mind. As for negatives, I can think of only one possible complaint. As some others have mentioned, the sliding covers on the outlets can be very difficult to operate. That said, I'm still happy to have something that prevents dust and dirt from entering and accumulating inside. I've been using this surge protector without issue for months now in an area with frequent power outages and surges. It's my personal favorite and I would definitely recommend it.
