Great drone with a great camera!
A few things right away. This is a great product with a great camera. I am not sure that I would put it as a 100% beginner drone, because you do need to go through the settings and make sure things are the way you will want it to fly, but overall, it is very easy to fly. (+the out of the box settings are pretty much ready to go, I just like to investigate stuff ahead of time and know what I am looking at.) In the end, I am very happy with this drone and believe it deserves a full 5-star review. There are a few things I learned along the way so please look at the specifics below to see what I have come across over the past few weeks. Camera: The camera shots are awesome right out of the box, and if you want to upgrade from there look into Freewell lens filters, they offer a wide variety of lenses for the Mini 3 pro that simply snap on and off for different affects such as polarization, light pollution and more. They aren’t the cheapest, but they work phenomenal if you really want to get the most out of your shots. Color: The drone comes as a light gray color… the same color as the clouds. Personally, this decreases my range of sight for the drone because it can easily get lost on a bright sky or a cloud background. There are a few studies that I looked into that said that white and gray colors are the hardest colored objects to see in the sky which makes sense, the study mentioned that red is one of the easiest colors to see. I visited a company called DecalGirl.com to purchase a drone skin. Their website had almost unlimited styles, colors, and themes for the Mini 3 Pro, and this is basically a sticker set to put on your drone to change the color. I have not gotten mine in the mail yet, but I did order a nice dark red skin this morning for this model for around $25-$30. It may be worth the investment for you (just be sure to read ahead for the 250 gram weight notes below). Performance: I have not pushed any limits with the wind, but I have been out on a breezy day and the drone has performed great, the pictures stay stable, and I didn’t have to worry about my new toy going sailing across the lake in the wind. Idle time is not fantastic for the drone, however, I believe this is an issue with a lot of drones, so I am not about to take a star off or anything for this reason. Drones are basically fan cooled, flying and the propellers keep your drone cool while in flight. If you have a long idle time (5-10 minutes), meaning that your drone is sitting on the ground turned on (propellers not rotating) while you get ready to fly your drone will likely overheat and give you an overheating warning and turn itself off until it cools down. If this happens, be sure to get it in the shade or in its case so you don’t damage your lipo batteries. Even best to take the battery back out for a few minutes. Again, this is not a concern specific to this drone, they will all overheat in the sun if not flying. Just be sure to take your drone out and be ready to fly when you put the battery in and power it on. Other Accessories: I purchased a set of landing gear for this to give it more stability upon takeoff and landing. This was a very nice addition for my use. I would not anticipate any problems taking off and landing without it, but it does sit a lot nicer on the ground when you use it. I think they are all fairly similar to purchase, I got a product called "Landing Gear for DJI Mini 3/Mini 3 Pro Leg Foldable Extended Kit for Mini 3 (2022)/DJI Mini 3 Pro Accessories" from a brand called "YETEETH". Weight: Out of the box, as advertised, the drone weighs in at 249 Grams. In the United States, the FAA requires that all drones with a weight of 250 grams or more be registered. This is a cost of $5 for a 3 year term, not a big deal to me but there are a few things to realize. If you do not want to register your drone with the FAA, you can basically only fly it right out of the box just as it is. Any accessory puts you over weight. Landing gear can weigh 20-40 grams and even the Freewell lens cover as mentioned above weigh in at 1.1 grams, so one lens cover alone will put you over the limit at 250.1 grams. As mentioned earlier, I am also in the process of getting a drone skin, I anticipate this being a few grams also. If you are considering purchasing, the plus battery, that will have a 47-minute flight time instead of the 34 minute flight time please be aware that this batter also puts you over the 250 gram threshold with the FAA. The next thing to know about weight is more of an upcoming rule from the FAA. Currently as of today (7/25/23) on September 16, 2023 according to the FAA all drones flown in the United States over 250 grams in the air must be Remote ID compliant. (The short version is that this is a broadcasting system that lets other aircraft see your drone's location in the air.) The good news is that the FAA has a declaration of compliance already on file that states that the DJI mini 3 Pro is compliant with Remote ID requirements. Also be aware that if flying under part 107 (commercial drone license) that you need Remote ID compliance whether you are over 250 grams or not. There are no settings for this in the drone or anything to worry about, so out of the box, this drone is Remote ID compliant no matter what weight you fly at. If you are wondering, here is a list of all drones according to the FAA that are currently compliant with Remote ID requirements. https://uasdoc.faa.gov/listDocs Controller: I like the controller, I don’t have a ton to say about it other than there are a lot of cool features built into it for different camera shots and it is a definite bonus to have the screen built in so I do not need to use my phone. One downfall, is that there are some 3rd party apps for DJI. This controller does not support them. If you want to use a different app to fly your drone such as a mapping app that can do auto flights or things you will need a DJI RC-N1 Controller. You lose the screen built in, but you can plug your phone into that controller and do more things from your phone’s apps. (I have not tried this, but this is the response I got asking DJI support a few questions about it.)

Great drone!
This is my first drone, and I love it. Setup was pretty straightforward, just make sure you find and remove all the packaging, like behind the gimbal, before you turn it on. I would definitely recommend the FlyMore kit and propeller guards for when you're learning or flying near hazards. Note that if you get the FlyMore Kit Plus the batteries are larger, so you'll get longer duration but your drone will be over the 250g limit and you'll need to register it. Propeller guards will also put it over that limit. Not sure how likely the cops are going to show up with a scale to weigh your drone, but just FYI. Pros: * Easy to fly! This was my first drone and I've only flown others for a few minutes, and I was feeling confident with the controls in a few minutes. * Really quick, like a lot zippier than I was expected it to be, even with blade guards attached which slow it down. * Range seems good so far - I've been a little hesitant to fly it too far away but have not experienced any issues at the distances I traveled * Great video and photo quality, and easy to understand gimbal controls. Decent zoom. * Under 250g so you don't need to register it in most countries * Very tiny when folded makes it easy to transport even in a smaller bag * Has lights to make it easier to see at night * DJI coverage is reasonably priced and includes fly-away coverage. It prompts you if you want it right as you boot up the drone the first time. Feels worth the price for peace of mind. Cons: * Startup is a bit slow, it can get hung up on "takeoff not permitted" for quite a while before you can take off. * Doesn't reconnect to WIFI automatically so I have to always manually turn it on * I live on the edge of a flight path for a municipal airport, so I have to reapply to fly my drone in the area every 3 days through FlySafe. Since it's a low level of restriction it just gets auto approved, so it's more a hassle than anything, but it would be nice if it lasted a month or even a week. * It would be nice if you could fly with the gimbal protector on. Seems like when I'm flying it, that's when the gimbal would need the most protection.

Awesome Drone Technology
TL;DR: This is my second experience with DJI drones (first was a Phantom 2 Vision when droning was a new thing). This drone is awesome for beginners and experienced drone flyers. Camera is beautiful and functional. The RC unit is awesome. The range is great. The battery life is OK. Just hold your nose and buy the "fly more" battery combo you can get on top of this. I ended up buying almost everything separately eventually anyway and paid more for it. If you're on the fence, go for it. This drone will do it all. PROS: Got a great discount as a Prime Day deal. Shipping was super fast. Drone comes packaged great. You have to create a DJI account before you can fly. The controls are incredibly intuitive and easy to learn. It still amazes me how you can just sit the controller down and the drone holds its place in space perfectly. The drone weighs under 250g so no FAA registration is required. I'm a video pro and a media junkie and I will say the camera is just awesome--beautiful video and photos. Range is great, I can get about 4,000 feet away in hilly Western Pennsylvania before I start losing range at about 375 feet up. The remote control with the screen is such an upgrade over the old Phantom series controllers. I helped my neighbor locate missing cows by putting the drone up and you could clearly see the brown and black cows on the screen from over 300 feet up. I really love this drone. I've had it about two months and I've flown it almost 30 hours already, which is more than I flew in the entire life of my Phantom drone. Everything is USB-C, which is awesome. The RC unit charges with it, the drone plugs in and charges with it, the triple charger (sold separately) uses it. The features that are built in are incredible. The smart tracking and circling features are great. The crash avoidance hardware is amazing and will save your drone a nasty crash. You can control that stuff and turn it off if you're operating in close quarters though, which is great. CONS: I didn't initially buy a MicroSD card with it and you can only record about 2 minutes of video on the hard drive, but that's my fault. Make sure you check with DJI's compatibility list for which SD cards are approved to use. You don't want corrupted data from junk cards. It doesn't come with any built-in 3 mile strobe light "required" by the FAA for flying at night. The batteries say they'll do 30 minutes, but I usually get about 20-25 before I have to put it down. Pro and Con: The drone knows where you are allowed to be and where you aren't (around airports, government buildings, etc) and will prompt you or downright stop you from flying in these areas. TIPS: Buy the "fly more" combo. I initially skipped on it because I didn't want to pay that steep price, but I ended up buying almost everything that comes in the kit anyway. You will want at least 3 batteries, a charger unit, a case, and ND filters, at a minimum. Do some research on FAA drone regulations and make yourself familiar with them. I am learning more the longer I own the thing. People are amazed at the beautiful, smooth shots I come back with. I'm a video pro so my standards are super high. Drone tech has finally caught up with my high expectations and THIS DRONE IS AWESOME. Absolute 5-star product!!

A Top-Notch Drone – Twice a Winner
I am now the proud owner of two DJI Mini 3 Pro drones, and I can't sing their praises enough. These drones are a testament to quality and innovation, earning a well-deserved 5-star rating from me. Starting with the ease of use, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is user-friendly right out of the box. Even if you're new to flying, you'll find this drone to be remarkably easy to control. The controls are intuitive, and the drone's stability in flight is nothing short of impressive. The 4K video capability has been a game-changer for my aerial photography and videography. The crisp and vibrant footage captured by this drone adds a professional touch to my work, and the level of detail is astounding. Being lightweight adds to the drone's appeal, making it highly portable and a breeze to carry around. Whether I'm hiking up a mountain or strolling through the city, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is always ready to take to the skies. But what sets this drone apart for me is its consistent performance. Having owned two of these now, I can attest to the drone's reliability and durability. It continues to perform admirably, flight after flight, never failing to impress. In conclusion, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is a top-tier drone that delivers in every aspect. From its user-friendly controls to its stunning 4K video capabilities, it has quickly become an essential part of my toolkit. If you're in the market for a lightweight, high-performing drone, look no further. The DJI Mini 3 Pro is a true winner, twice over!

DJI's best Mavic?
This is probably the last DJI I will ever buy. It's probably also the best Mavic series aircraft that DJI has ever made, at least for us hobby fliers. DJI makes more powerful drones with many more features. They are also much more expensive and better suited for professional use. The Mavic Mini 3 Pro packs a lot more than any of it's predecessors. It's also still well within the budget of most enthusiasts. The multi-directional obstacle avoidance sensors and system really help navigating without being distracted by trees, bushes, buildings and the like. You still have to avoid wires and other things that don't register with those sensors. Common sense must prevail. The new design has the drone already tilted at a slight angle while hovering, which flattens it's profile while flying. Much better aerodynamics. The slimmer rotor arm design helps keep the weight down, improves aerodynamics. You no longer have to follow any sequence when folding or unfolding the drone. The new gimbal design allows nearly vertical upshots, as well as downshots. The camera is also much improved. DJI was able to do all of this, while still keeping the overall weight below 250 grams, to satisfy the FAA non-licensed requirements. The available 'extended flight time' batteries add to the weight, thereby making registration necessary. However, if you are a 'hobby' flier, you probably already have your FAA certificate displayed on all your other birds and adding that label to this one is not a big deal. The jump in flight time by a good 10 minutes is worth it. I couldn't find a complete 'fly more' bundle at the time. So I purchased the separate 'fly more' kit, and one more battery to complete my field package. One thing that DJI didn't include with this drone, or the fly more kit was the DJI wall adapter for charging the batteries. If you want to stick with OEM equipment, I recommend you get that unit. It's not expensive and just makes me feel better about how I'm charging the batteries. Some other things that I got to go with this set are a hard-shell carrying case, skid type landing gear extensions, lens filters and a mini-strobe (for flying before sunrise or after sunset). The aircraft's status lights DO NOT operate while shooting video. So, some kind of accessory light is critical for shooting in low light conditions if you want to know where your drone is, by line of sight. There are 'spider leg' types of landing gear extensions out there. I don't recommend them. If you're landing on turf, the legs just poke down in the grass and don't help at all. The DJI controller included with this set up is SO much better than the standard controller. No need for your smart phone, holder and cables. The display is large, touch capable and bright enough to see well in direct sunlight. You can also pair it with other DJI aircraft. So, it's very much worth the investment. Overall, I am very happy with the DJI Mavic Mini 3 Pro. I plan on using it a lot. And, as it is my last drone purchase, I feel I made a great purchase.

The best “toy” I’ve ever spent money on
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is by far the most worthwhile thing I’ve ever bought. The camera quality is absolutely stunning, and I can confidently fly it up to about 2 miles away with no issues. Sometimes the connection drops for a moment, but it has always safely returned home without any problems. I’ve been using it for quite a while now, and the only downside is the battery life — sometimes the 30-minute flight time feels a bit short. Other than that, it’s an amazing drone and totally worth the price.

Excellent product, dubious marketing
...but what else is new! This was priced such that adding the extended capacity Flymore package brought the total to about what the drone with RC would cost on its own... so SOLD! After about 10 hours of YT research, it's been made clear that: A. You really want to fly this thing with the ever so slightly-heavier battery since it helps it perform in gusty conditions B. Operating a drone is a huge legal liability and requires registration, certification, and more if you wish to use it to generate profit C. Loads of geo-fence type limitations are built into the device/software and are updated (limitations are increased) regularly D. Enjoy them while you can, as the way may be "paved" for UAVs strictly of the commercial variety, and these may one day be nothing but neat looking paperweights From a product perspective? Absolutely the most advanced, interesting, high-tech thing you can buy aside from a smartphone. The execution of this ... thing is marvelous. Truly something that's more than the sum of its parts, because of all the software. Must have been some HUGE nerds working very hard to make this a reality, and that's worth appreciating. Performance is very good, and it's VERY easy to fly, and also very easy to over-fly if you're not ready. I like that it's easy to disable sideways flight so while you're learning, you have one less variable to have to concern yourself with; this thing, looking at it, was designed for forward flight... but it flys very well in any direction. It actually does what it says it will do! I've only shot 2.5k video so far, in bright light with no ND filter and I'm not blown away by the video performance, but it's very good. I'll try other settings to see if I can't eliminate that Point'n'shoot oversharpened look. This camera does NOT appear to have an adjustable aperture, it's stuck at f/1.7 at all times, unless I'm missing something, so ND filters are really needed if you wish to use this for any kind of real video work. The camera cannot focus even remotely close, but that's not really what it's made for so... I found that, in my beginnerness, quite a few videos were out of focus so you will need to be sure to fiddle with everything (press and hold ALL the buttons on screen to see which ones act what way - it's possible to manually focus, or set focus to infinity very easily) I'd like to see software updates that provide MORE customization for the Any Keys (custom buttons on the bottom of the controller). "Fly as you are" - no, this is not about freedom. It means the footage you get is only as interesting as the (restricted) place you're visiting. "care-free flying" - While the extra watt hours provided by the larger battery (2800 or so, as opposed to the 1800 in the ultralight battery) make it easier to stay in the air longer, the care-freeness goes right out the window since you're now in regulated territory. Should have jumped on this wagon while the tech. was still emerging, as all the regulations are already beginning to put a hamper on, and may completely kill, the joy of this and products like it. And I can't forget to compare it to the Wish-level sludge "drones" that exist. This really does ACTUALLY work and perform exactly the way it's supposed to, which is, again, kinda unreal. Fly as you are.

Exploring is Amazing With This Little Thing
The DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone has been an absolute game-changer for me as I explore my new town. This lightweight and powerful drone have provided me with incredible aerial views and an opportunity to capture high-quality shots that showcase the beauty of my surroundings. One of the standout features of this drone is its exceptional camera capabilities. With 4K video recording and 48MP photo resolution, the DJI Mini 3 Pro delivers stunningly detailed and clear visuals. It's a joy to fly this drone and capture breathtaking shots from the sky. Since I recently moved to a new town, the DJI Mini 3 Pro has become my trusty companion for learning the area. With its impressive 34 minutes of flight time, I have the freedom to explore and photograph various locations without worrying about battery life. Moreover, the tri-directional obstacle sensing technology has been a lifesaver, ensuring that my flights are safe and obstacle-free. The Return to Home feature provides added peace of mind, allowing the drone to return to its takeoff point with just a tap on the remote control. One minor wish I have for the DJI Mini 3 Pro is to have a screen that could show me the full potential of the camera in real-time. While the remote control is excellent, having a dedicated screen could enhance the overall flying and shooting experience. In conclusion, the DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone is a game-changer for anyone who loves photography and exploration. Its exceptional camera quality, long flight time, and obstacle avoidance features make it a perfect companion for capturing stunning aerial shots. Whether you're a seasoned drone pilot or a beginner, this drone with camera for adults will exceed your expectations. I highly recommend the DJI Mini 3 Pro to anyone looking to take their photography and exploration to new heights.
