This is how I roll from meow on…
I inserted a 12 TB drive spinning at 7200 RPMs and it is so quiet! This is my preferred method for a drive attachment from meow on…

Incompatable With Most SAS Drives
The unit seems to work perfectly fine with all the SATA hard drives and SATA SSDs I have. It only works with one model of SAS SSD I have (IBM 200G 6Gbps), all of the other SAS SSDs and all of my SAS hard drives don't work with this unit. (The drives spin up but are never seen by the host computer.)

It's a pretty decent unit. Did what I needed it too.
It autoplays the drive no problem. Swapped in an SAS drive.transfer rates are about 110 MB/s to 140, maybe peaks at 150MB/s.It could definitely go faster. It runs a bit hot. I feel nervous around the drive because it's upright too.Otherwise though, effective. Filled up a 2tb drive, backing up my laptop and main pc, before writing this review. This will make it really easy to back stuff up because you can get kind of cheap used drives and hot swap them.Definitely handy.

2.5" & 3.5" SAS drives can now be properly cleaned
Old SAS drives were always being sent to a 3rd party to be wiped. Now we can do it ourselves before disposal and ensure that the data is fully wiped.CAUTION:15K drives can get a bit hot when doing a large amount of read/write activity. So ensure you have plenty of ventilation during these times.

unable to read drive s.m.a.r.t. information
It works for both Sata and Sas but is not compatible with Linux smartmon tools

Works!
I was once told by an engineer that there would never be a SAS to USB adapter because you need a SAS controller card well this worked.

Frequent disconnects. Unusable.
I purchased this SAS dock as I have many used SAS HDDs that I need to securely wipe the data from. This dock seems to disconnect frequently such that during the course of wiping one 1.6 TB disk, it would disconnect 7 to 10 times. I thought this particular device may be defective, so I exchanged it for anther one. To my dismay, the replacement unit also disconnected frequently.I ended up returning this unit and purchasing a different brand. I am much happier now.

I just got off work.. yay
My story.I bought 4 drives from Amazon to complete my little personal computing cloud hobby. I looked at them and BOoM! SAS! So I have SCSI technology to finish my project. Yay. SASquatch drive technology forces me to buy another type of controller interface. SCSI is supposed yo be better says Harry from the popular Henderson home."Dude it rocks jist like my zip drive" says the long blonde man with hair that goes down to his waist...."Buzz docking bay transport""Yes ensign Pickles""Initialize!"
