Neutrogena Anti-Residue Clarifying Shampoo, Gentle Non-Irritating Clarifying Shampoo to Remove Hair Build-Up & Residue, 12 fl. oz

The first picture is taken after my hair air-dried after I used this shampoo. The second picture is after my hair air-dried after I used my regular shampoo, the OGX volumizing shampoo. My hair is always frizzy even if I glue it to my head with hairspray, so just ignore that. My hair is fine - not thin, I have lots of it, the follicles just aren't thick - so I use volumizing shampoo to give my ED hair a lift and make it have a little more bounce and shine. This Neutrogena shampoo does a great job cleaning off the build-up and it smells really nice. I got it 25 September and I use it every Sunday to refresh my hair. If my hair has too much buildup, I'll use it again the next day or again sometime in the week. I've also used it twice in one day for excess buildup or gunk and it works really nicely like that too. I've not noticed any damage to my hair outside of my own poor hair care routine. I don't know what reaction some people are having to the ingredients, but I've not had any problems. I honestly love it. No damage to my hair or any hair loss, doesn't weigh it down, doesn't burn, itch, or sting, it removes the buildup, it smells great, and my hair is super soft when it's all dry. I highly recommend if you want to get rid of the buildup.

Love this it truly works

I needed a true clarifying shampoo before doing a keratin treatment. I did two lathers with the shampoo to make sure the hair shaft was stripped of oil and build-up... and it sure worked! I don't use much product on my hair, and I STILL felt a dramatic difference. It was like this shampoo cut straight through any built up oils and grime. I only did the second lather to make extra sure before I did my keratin treatment. Yes, it does have a rather strong scent. I would NOT say it's an unpleasant smell. The aroma that surrounded me as I lathered was slightly masculine and attractive, like a unisex perfume of notes similar to sandalwood. I would recommend it so much, I've already lent it to a coworker to try! I would NOT recommend it for daily use, or even more than once or twice a week, because it does its job too well and your strands will end up parched.

Mild yet effective. It has a faint, somewhat spicy aroma (no sickening sweet perfume). Lathers well. Rinses clean. I use it every day. And I use it as a body wash too. I've been using this shampoo for many years. A better shampoo I haven't found. And I've never had any sort of allergic reaction to this product. But I'm not giving it five stars because of the high price. Years ago Neutrogena sold this product in a large pump bottle. Now it's only available in twelve (12) ounce bottles or smaller. I wish they'd sell it by the quart or by the gallon to keep the cost down. UPDATE: I just received a dozen bottles today (09-16-20). In my previous shipments the bottles were individually packaged in plastic bags in case of accidental spillage. But not this time. All the bottles were loose in the carton, covered in several tablespoons of spilled shampoo all inside the box. What a mess! On several bottles the caps were so loose they were about to fall off. I'm surprised even more shampoo didn't leak out. Was this packaged by a six year old child? However, I'm happy to report that Amazon took care of the problem like they always do. UPDATE: On 07-27-21 I received six bottles. None of them were in an outer bag. Some of the shampoo leaked from one of the bottles. I had to wash all of the bottles before putting them away. In the same box I also received a package of bedsheets. The outside of the package had shampoo on it. If you order anything from Amazon that can leak, I highly recommend that you order it separately.

I have thick, huge, and often frizzy and misbehaving wavy hair. I've been using this shampoo for more than 20 years as a clarifying shampoo, on and off. I have tried other products and still find this to be the most effective, non-irritating shampoo for that purpose. Paired with a really nice conditioner (not touching my scalp), a wash using this shampoo can keep my hair smelling and looking clean, as well as feeling soft, for about three days. It is a bit drying if used too frequently, so I recommend following the directions on the back of the bottle and using it intermittently with your favorite shampoo and conditioner (I personally use a really moisturizing shea butter/cocoa butter shampoo and conditioner most of the time to maintain the moisture and fight the frizz).

It was my first time ever using a clarifying shampoo and this exceeded my expectations. My hair is untreated (no dying, hardly ever use serums, hair spray, dry shampoo, etc) but it was dull and would get oily quickly but my scalp was also dry and flakey. I bought a higher end shampoo and conditioner (Drybar brand) and I felt like it didn't help my hair at all. I saw a video on Instagram where they were using scissors to scrape product build up and the girl in the video explained how the build up can make your products less effective. So I decided to try the Neutrogena Clarifying shampoo because of the reviews and I was no disappointed at all. I have a little longer than shoulder length hair, fine hair and used the shampoo with a scalp scrubber thing. After the first use, I put conditioner in my hair after and when it was done air drying I noticed a HUGE difference in shine and weight. My hair felt lighter, was shiner, and looked healthier overall. I 100% recommend it!

I use it about once a week and it’s been magical every time. I can go longer between washes after using this shampoo, which I love - my hair is very fine, but there’s a lot of it, and drying it can be a pain. But I have to dry it to give it any kind of life and dry shampoo is a joke my hair chuckles at regularly. I freaking love this stuff. I used to use it years ago and then it seemed like maybe the formula changed and didn’t work as well, so I stopped and no biggie. Lately, I was wondering why my hair was so weighed down and got oily so fast - was thinking maybe I needed to change out my pricey salon shampoo and conditioner (of which I still had plenty), or maybe with age my hair was changing 😫. But one use of this shampoo cleared out so much buildup in my hair, I could go back to my products no problem. Great problem solver!

I had been using the Honest company Shampoo + Body Wash - Everyday Gentle. It gave me horrible product build up. I tried washing with just water or using other shampoos to help with the gross feeling in my hair. I saw this product on a Tik Tok and decided to give it a try. It was honestly true to its word! It helped take away that product build up feeling I had been dealing with for 2 months. The first wash it didn't lather, but when I did a second wash my hair lather real good. My hair did feel dry after washing the product away but I continued with a conditioner. Once my hair dried I was SOOO HAPPY that gross build up went away. I think one more use in 2 weeks my hair will be back to what it was before using the Honest company shampoo.

This shampoo is always amazing. After washing it and the next day when you use your favourite shampoo, it makes your hair silky soft. It really removes all the residues to make your favourite shampoo works better.

BEST SHAMPOO FOR OILY HAIR. I have been searching everywhere for a good shampoo fit oily hair and omg my hair used to get oily 3 days after showering but not my hair stays nice for up to a week
