this is the common thread for most mobile antenna mounts and not usually available at hardware stores which usually only carry the coarse 16 TPI, and then usually in zinc plate which is not well suited for outdoor use. despite the illustration it is shiny nickel-stainless as one would expect. mine had a metal shaving from the tap so watch out for that when handling.

I needed this thread pattern to make a custom shift knob for my classic Ford. It was as described and worked like a charm.
