The SecureMyDoor Outdoor IP65 PRESS TO EXIT Button has held up well after a year of outdoor use in the UK. Despite some visible corrosion around the button, it continues to function reliably. It’s proven to be a durable, weather-resistant option for outdoor installations.

This outdoor button comes in a plain cardboard box and inside you’ll find the switch plate, back box, 2x Allen key screws, Allen key, and a wiring leaflet. The switch pate itself feels really good quality with it’s brushed stainless steel faceplate. It has a smooth green button in the middle which needs a little bit of pressure to press. It’s not hard to press, but it does need a little bit of push to get it to click so it’s not easy to accidentally press it. On the back of the button is four wires which need to be wired in depending on your installation. The included wiring diagram helps with which wires to use. The back box is made from plastic but has been sprayed in silver to closely match the metal faceplate. Installation was straight forward in my situation as I already have an electric door lock fitted which is locked when there is power going to it. I wired this in from my power cables and when I press the button, it stops the electrical current going to door lock, and the lock releases. This allows me to open the gate. When the gate closes, the electrical current resumes and locks the door behind me. This has made it a lot easier for my wife to get through the back gate on her mobility scooter as she doesn’t have to mess with any keys, locks or catches. She simply presses the button from the inside, and the gate unlocks for her. I like how the front faceplate sits inside the back box at the top which gives some protection from water ingress to the cabling behind.
