Excellent, But With It Was 8 Hour Time Release
The best sleep aid I've found, after trying a few different things. Long before I started having sleep problems recently, I've used the Tempur-Pedic sleep eye mask for 12 years, to block out all light when I sleep (highly recommend to add to your sleep regimen). I always wanted to make sure my sleep was the highest quality, with no light. So I was kind of surprised when I suddenly began having insomnia about 6 months ago - waking once or twice in the night, then waking at 4 a.m. "ready for the day." I'm a fan of supplements, but I've tried enough of them through the years to know I usually can't handle something strong. And of course I didn't want anything that could be addictive, because this was happening every single night, not just an "occasional" sleepless night. So I started with gentle herbal supplements and teas like chamomile, lavender, passion flower, and lemon balm. No valerian sleep aids for me, because I have a paradoxical reaction to it (instead of calming me, it gives me the opposite - anxiety and racing heartbeat). The herbs helped me relax but didn't help me sleep. I was hesitant to try melatonin because it's a hormone, and I've had my hormones messed up before, but I was desperate for sleep. I suspected the 3 mg and 5 mg doses on the market would be way too much. I started with a 1.5 mg supplement, which worked but I woke up groggy and nauseous. Too much. I tried a few lower dose options (not time released like this one), which helped me fall asleep and eliminated the first night wakings, but I still woke up at 4 a.m. on the dot and couldn't go back to sleep. Clearly I needed the melatonin to stay in my system longer, so it occurred to me to look for a time released option (which, oddly, didn't come up in my searches for melatonin until I searched specifically for time released). This looked like a good option. 1 tablet worked pretty well at keeping me asleep until about 5 a.m., which was an improvement, but it took longer for me to fall asleep in the first place because the small dose is distributed so slowly. 2 tablets are PERFECT for me at 600 mcg (equivalent to 0.6 mg, just over half a milligram, distributed evenly throughout the night). I had the most glorious night of sleep I've had in 6 months. I like this Life Extension one because it's such a tiny dose, I don't have to cut it and I was able to double up easily, without going over 1 mg. If you needed 3 tablets, it would still be less than 1 mg. With such a small dose, you can make these fine-tune adjustments. Hormones are very powerful and delicate like that. There's no reason to go overboard with them. I definitely recommend this. UPDATE: I do wish this was an 8 hour time release instead of 6. I sleep great through the 6 hours, but I'm wide awake as soon as it wears off. All the current research says adults need 8 hours of sleep for optimal health. I get by, but I NEED another two hours of sleep each night.

Helps you stay asleep if you tend to wake up in the middle of the night
I like this melatonin because it actually releases six hours after I fall asleep which is when I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night. I have taken two of them, but Iโm a little Gun shy of taking too much melatonin luckily this is a low dose and it is possible to take two of them, but I think itโs always best to start off with one and see if that makes a difference if it makes a little bit of a difference, but youโre needing a little bit more assistance than I would increase. How many you take, but make sure thatโs the only thing youโre changing with your medicationโs and supplements at that time to understand how it fully impact

Seems to help
I've tried many forms of melatonin before but never experienced any improvement with my middle insomnia. I haven't taken this product very long but it seems there is some improvement...time will tell

The best sleep pill ever for effectiveness, safety, and low price
I found this product after I had been taking another low-melatonin, timed-release pill called Sleep Answer. It works great but is rather costly -- $20 to $36 a month, depending on the deal being offered. So I searched on Amazon to see if there was something like it that was less costly, and I found this. I know Life Extension is a good company and the price is far lower, so I've tried this for a couple of a weeks and it works the same as Sleep Answer. It doesn't come with any literature, and there's no good information on the Amazon listing about it, which there should be because you can't just start taking it if you've been taking a higher dose melatonin. I had read the info on the Sleep Answer website, sleepanswer.com, and you really should read it for the interesting back story as well as the instructions, without having to pay the high price for it. I had been taking 3 mg melatonin, which didn't give me a full night's sleep, and the instructions said to stop taking higher-dose melatonin for several days before you start the low-dose kind. And then it doesn't always work well right away; it can take a week or so to work, and gets even better in a couple of months as your body adjusts to it. I found all of that to be true. I almost always wake up at night between 1:00 and 4:00, but now I can go back to sleep except very rarely, and that's the great thing about this for me. I would give it ten stars if I could.

Fixes Sleep for some with ASD!!!
Best melatonin. I have tried many types, brands, amounts - this is the best. Customer for life. As someone with ASD, I have a research-based melatonin issue. My main issue I have found is that I run out of melatonin too early (in simple terms). The time release on this one is perfect. Enough to get you through the night but not too much or too much lag to make you groggy. Feel like a new person with this brand.

YMMV
Have nightmares and wake up after 4 hours as with all crappy melatonins. Their OTHER xr melatonin works well. Here's the worst part: the two affect my mother the opposite ways. So you may have to try both!

Helps me sleep
I take this alongside glycine and 99% of the time, these sleep supplements keep me rested for the next day. It doesn't work 100% of the time but overall given how low this price is, it's a no brainer to have this brand of melatonin at your disposal.
