92 k2500 5.7 4x4 wants to know if this will fit? Amazon filter says no but switch and harness fit? hum..?

This is an upgrade unit for the old style thermal actuator. This should work on your truck, but you have to use the Dorman 600-600 upgrade harness, which includes a spacer which goes into the axle for proper operation. I installed this actuator and the upgrade harness kit on my 93 Silverado K1500 5.7 in about one and a half hours. The hardest part was routing the extra hot wire from the new harness back up to the 4X4 shifter. I spliced into the hot wire going to the shifter so the actuator stays engaged with the ignition switch off. If you run the new hot wire on upgrade harness directly to the battery the actuator will disengage/engage every time you turn the ignition off/on while in 4 wheel drive. My front axle now engages as soon as I move the shifter, no waiting like the old thermal unit and cold weather does not affect it.

My 92 k1500 has the shifter in the floor for 4x4 and when i put it in4 low or high the front drive shaft on the column doesnt light up would this fix?

Did you get it fixed? I would suspect either the lamp burned out like in my 94 Suburban with the NP243. My NP243 also has 2 switches, one for the actuator, the other for the "4x4" light (which I believe is a "194" bulb) under the little diagram on the cover when I engage the floor lever.  Also check ACDelco "PT724" (GM Original Equipment 2-Way Male Gray Multi-Purpose Pigtail) if your plug is bad.

It will fix it but along with that you need a wiring harness to change over from Chevrolet you have to get it from Chevrolet
