Mido: In Egyptian Arabic

Excellent resource for learning colloquial Egyptian Arabic. Fantastic job with companion electronic flash cards used with free ANKI software program. You can read, listen to the chapters and be spoon-fed the vocabulary in the order they appear in the text! Phenomenal! Superb work with voices telling the story. Amusing, fun chapters with many new vocabulary words for the intermediate-high intermediate student. Thanks for the free MP3 files on lingualism.com that I could use on my iPhone. Very nice comments on cultural background in the stories. More comments on the significance of the vocabulary and situations would have been a welcome addition to make a terrific book even better. I am a great fan of all of Mr. Aldrich’s Arabic language books. He is filling a nearly untouched niche with his focus on the colloquial dialects of Arabic. Thank you!

Wow, a book written in Egyptian Arabic... that's so helpful for those learning that dialect. Very interesting and well written too. I love books published by lingualism. They're always great quality. Hope there will be more readers like that

I'm sort of wondering why only some letters have the diacritical marks above them but most do not.

Having studied Arabic for forty years this book and the other materials produced by Matthew Aldrich are the first resources I have found for accessing authentic dialect. The recordings are superb and the font sizes used in the book cause no problem for my aging eyes.

アラビア語の教科書は音声がなかったり、訳がなかったりして、果たして自分が理解しているのか疑問に思うことが多々あるのだが、こちらのシリーズは音声、英語訳が揃っているのでありがたい。10レッスン。1レッスン目でアラビア語のページで7ページ訳も7ページで見やすいレイアウト。子供が主人公の日常の会話とナレーションなので、さっさと終わらせようと思ったら、結構難しい。1日1ページしか進まず、でも頑張る～。単語リストはない。辞書に載っていない語は注釈付き。音声はメルアド知らせないとダウンロードできないと思った。（ずいぶん前に登録したので定かでない。）本当はテキストは紙の本が好きだけど、安いのでkindleを購入。MSAのMidoも同時購入。今のところ、そちらもまったく同じ話とレイアウトなので同時進行で学習中。サンプルで本文10ページ以上読める。→Kindle for Android 8.0.0.78のアップデートで読めなくなりました。→いつの間にか読めるようになっていました。語彙PDFのDL可。
