how does it compare to the berkey, has anybody done the red dye test n see if it went thru clear, has anybody sent it to a lab to see by a well comp?

-Effectively remove 97% chlorine and 97% taste & odor (tested in our own lab)

-Absorb certain level of other harmful substances, such as lead, arsenic, other heavy metals, etc.

are thes filters made in China if not where are the manufactured;

Yes, they are made in Qingdao, China. That is what my box says Also, there is no mention of it removing bacteria or giardia, which would be crucial in filtering non-potable water.

Here is a direct quote from the Berkey water filter site. You will not see anything about these things on the FilterLogic info:
 Our Berkey water filter systems can be classified as a water purifier because our elements actually remove 99.9999999% of pathogenic bacteria (9-log reduction) and 99.999% of viruses which greatly exceeds the standards.

Is it normal for the water to taste like charcoal for a while? It's kind of gross.

Mine tastes bad too! I primed the filter according to the instructions and then primed it again the next day. I just primed it again a third time for 5 minutes straight and I’m still getting the taste. The filters smell like they taste too. I never had this with another brand. Is this a fluke or normal?!
