Lethal. Loyal. Legendary. Enter the world of Throne of Glass with the first book in the #1 bestselling series by Sarah J. Maas.In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him. She has come to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three murderers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the King’s Champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien. The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. And a princess from a faraway country will befriend her. But something rotten dwells in the castle, and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying mysteriously, one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival―and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.Thrilling and fierce, Throne of Glass is the first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series that has captivated readers worldwide. Review: Nice - Nice book Review: A chilling and thrilling read - Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is the first book in the series by the same name. Celaena Sardothien, the protagonist is Adarlan's most notorious assassin who was enslaved in Endovier. She is bought to the king's court to compete to become the King's Champion and win back her freedom, failing which she would be killed. The things become dangerous as the competition proceeds and several dark secrets are revealed in the course of the book. 🗡 When it comes to characterisation, I feel that the author has done a tremendous job. She has shaped and developed the characters masterfully and has weaved the story with a lot of skill. I really liked Nehemia and Dorian, apart from the obvious favourite Celaena. Lies, murders and manipulation dominate the narrative. The narrative was a bit slow paced during the first half of the book but it became interesting and thrilling later. I was in for a lot of surprises and I couldn't put the book down. I would highly recommend you guys to read this series if you still haven't.

Blown Away By A Thrilling Tale And Irresistible Characters
I want to jump. Literally. Because I just finished a remarkable book that kept me on the edge of my seat all the while I read it. I am now an even bigger fan of Sarah J. Maas as she never fails to amaze me with her astounding writing and world-building. In this book, Maas has created a riveting fictional world where lives a girl who is almost invincible. I appreciate the fact that Maas’ heroines are always hot, strong and gutsy. Her characters are always fascinating and I am easily in love with most of them. Points I Liked About Throne of Glass Plot: Honestly, while reading the book, I thought I would see glimpses of The Hunger Games because of similar plotlines. However, the similarity ends right there. A ruthless competition is the only thing common between the two books and nothing else. Celaena is a savage assassin and is the only woman in a competition between cruel and shrewd criminals. The premise of the book is highly fascinating. I was sold on it instantly. I am glad that my inquisitiveness was not met with disappointment as I loved the book. Writing: With every page that I turned (on my Kindle), every word that I read, it felt like I was watching a movie. Maas’ writing is commendable. She spins out characters and situations with such eloquence that you will instantly be lured into her world and will want to dwell in there forever. Sometimes, imagining things that are a part of someone else’s imagination can get a little tricky but with this book and Maas’ writing, her fictional world and characters unfurled smoothly before my eyes. Celaena: Oh my God!! This girl is mind-blowing. I thought I loved Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses but Celaena just took my breath away. She is such a kick-ass, strong female lead that I cannot help but admire her guts. She is this fierce fighter who will do anything to survive and fight for her people. Her unnatural strength and grit make her a very strong character. She convincingly outdoes her male counterparts that make her the perfect assassin. Points I Did Not Like About Throne of Glass Nothing at all. Bow down to the master of fantasy fiction. Final View: I am excited for the next book in this series. If you haven’t read this book till now, then go and get it right away. If you love fantasy fiction, then you will surely love this one. Originally posted on Alphagirl.in

An absolute page turner!
Oh my God! I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting, it was that good! The book has you intrigued right from the first sentence and even though this book is above 400 pages, it does not slacken in its pacing. I never felt bored even when I was being fed information and I just ate it all. I loved the character development and I am so glad that Celaena, our protagonist, is strong and driven and that’s something I love about Sarah J Mass's writing. I really enjoyed that the story was around a formidable assassin, and she has already lived through her years of fame and downfall after being captured. This is a story of what happens after, when opportunity presents itself and how she grabs onto it and what that opportunity leads her to. I know, I know, I’m late to the party. I don’t know how I hadn’t read this book, but hey, better late than never, right? I am sooo looking forward to diving into the next one!

Best book to start after a long gap from fantasy
I finally caved and started Throne of Glass. 🗡️✨ Coming off a long fantasy hiatus since my Percy Jackson days, I was honestly a little hesitant to jump into such a massive global phenomenon. But after listening to the audiobook, I get the hype. Following Celaena Sardothie(a 17-year-old slave turned secret assassin)from the salt mines of Endovier to the marble halls of Rifthold was such a ride. The stakes are simple: win a brutal competition to become the King’s Champion, or go back to the mines. Between the training sessions with Captain Chaol, the unexpected charm of Prince Dorian, and the subtle, creeping magic Sarah J. Maas weaves into the world, I was hooked. Those final revelations? Mind-blowing. 🤯 I barely hit "pause" on book one before diving straight into Crown of Midnight. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about this series, consider this your sign to start!

You could rattle the stars. You could do anything, if only you dared. 🦄🦄🦄 Celaena Sardothien is the most infamous assassin who works for Arobynn in Adarlan. She gets caught and becomes a slave before Prince Dorian selects her as his candidate for a competition where the winner becomes the King's Champion. This person will be responsible for doing all the King's dirty work while he keeps his nose clean. If she wins, she has to work for the King for 4 years, after which she gains her freedom. Captain Chaol Westfall helps her in her training because she has become weak from working in the mines. She uses the alias, Lillian Gordaina, because her true identity should remain a secret. She becomes close friends with Princess Nehemia, who teaches her an ancient language. During the course of the book we are told few details of her past; her parents were murdered when she was 8 and shes been living with Arnobyn ever since. As the competition progresses, contestants start to die by an unknown entity. To learn what is happening in the King's castle, Calaena needs to dig deep and uncover secrets that were hidden long ago. 🦄🦄🦄 If you've not started reading this series yet, I suggest you do. With a strong female lead and a plot that keeps you begging for more, this book is every YA Fantasy reader's dream read. She is seen as self-centered and arragont, but those are the qualities that make her a great character because, underneath all that, she's just a girl. A girl who loves to dress up and falls in love. If you give Calaena a chance -NOT the book, but CALAENA- you'll learn to love it even if you think you won't.

Loved this book!! Can’t wait to read more!
All I can say is, I wish I started this sooner 😭🤣 WHY didn’t I read this book a year ago when I first got it?? I really enjoyed this book as I feel like I’m really in my ✨ fantasy era ✨ right now. For the longest time I’ve been nervous about this series due to the sheer size of it. But, so far it’s been the best decision picking it up. I did find this book to be a little slow at some points, but it always seemed to pick up the pace with something exciting when I was starting to feel really bored. So far, I really like Celaena. She really gives off baddie, boss girl vibes ✨⚔️ If you read to here, and have NOT yet read this series. Then take this as your sign to pick it up asap 🥰

Impressive debut YA fantasy novel that exceeded expectations.
I'd like to start this review by congratulating Bloomsbury UK on such a kick ass cover and one that in my humble opinion, far exceeds the US cover (if only they could have made it hardback!!!!) I'm now thinking there should be a special UK hardback edition, yes? I really don't know where to start other than saying that I thought Throne of Glass was EXCELLENT - the characterisation, the character arcs, the plot, even the bloody book cover is SPOT ON and this has definitely become one of my favourite YA novels of all time. In case you haven't figured it out yet, Throne of Glass is a YA fantasy novel told from the eyes of a teenage girl called Celaena but she's no ordinary teenage girl. She's one of the fiercest assassins in the land with a reputation to match but she's currently locked up as a slave in the deadly salt mines. One day, the prince makes her an offer she can't refuse - to act as his champion in a contest to find a royal assassin. If she wins, she serves the kingdom for three years and then, she's free to go. But it's not that simple, especially when other contestants start dying in mysterious circumstances. Throw in a couple of suitors by way of the Captain of the Guard and the prince himself, as well as a sprinkle of magic and you've got a hell of a story on your hands. This book was epic and I'm very proud to say that I did not need the pronunciation guide on Sarah's website. With regards to the love interests, it was very difficult to decide which team to be on. Before you get your panties in a twist, there isn't a love triangle as such but the prince and the Captain of the Guard cannot help but feel attracted to the beautiful assassin. She unwittingly captures both of their attentions and each of them has something to offer. Prince Dorian has a charm about him, a confidence in a way although he gives himself away with his occasional blushes which are ADORABLE by the way. And then we've got Chaol (the Captain of the Guard) who falls for her against his better judgement although really, I'm not sure either of them realise that. I love the fact that we can see it in the words unspoken. Prince Dorian is more unguarded with his feelings, more boyish whereas Chaol is cautious as ever as experience has taught him to be. There weren't a lot of secondary characters that really stood out for me besides Nehemia and really, I'm just glad that Celenea found an ally in her. I'm not going to say very much about the plot but trust me when I tell you that you have to discover it yourself and what you find, will surprise you. Can I just say as well that it's fantastic to have such a strong, female character and I enjoyed every second of her story. Throne of Glass was an impressive debut that far exceeded my expectations. I loved everything about the book and I can't wait to dive back into this world when the sequel Crown of Midnight is published this year.
