Works perfectly. New VOIP line was unable to generate a ring in my Western Electric 500 telephone, even though it had worked with other modems for a few years now (this is after switching the internals from ground ring to tip-and-ring ringing). While pricey, this phone now rings clear and brightly, with a classic rolling ring sound. If anything, it's too strong--I have to keep the phone set to the quietest ring volume.

On your vonage phone line, dial *** then 02 when asked for a command. It will give you the ip address of the box. Go there on your browser and login with 123. On the status page, go to the run test page. Pick the REN test and run it. It will give the number. Max is 3. The ht801 does not produce enough ring voltage to run this item. Get rid of old phones with high REN values and get below 3 and your phone will ring without adding this product.

This device seems to have worked well enough for others, but in my case the voltage booster failed to produce a vigorous sound when the phone rings, just a feeble, faint ringing sound. It's still better than the clattering sound it made before, but not loud enough to be heard from more than a room away. This may be partially the fault of the phone, however, so I'm only taking off one star in my review. But buyers should be aware that the device doesn't necessarily work with all older phones.

I have an Ooma which is connected to our house phone lines. Please note that the regular phone service to the house has been physically disconnected for several years. To celebrate setting up my new home office, I acquired a very nice classic 2500 desk phone. But the ring was very weak - I thought it might be defective. Then recently it occurred to me that it may simply not be getting the power it needs from the modern Ooma device. I bought this device half expecting it to not solve my problem... but lo and behold, once connected it gave a clear, loud bold ring as one would expect from one of these classic phones during the height of their reign over office desks everywhere. Please note the red LED on the device only lights while the phone is actually ringing, not when it is waiting for a call. I've only had the device one day, so who can say what tomorrow brings, but for today, I am a satisfied customer.

This product provided a solution for my home telephone service. I am using Magic Jack for landline telephone service, which does not have enough power to supply ringers for a household with multiple telephone. This product solved the problem. The Ring Voltage Booster is good quality and easy to install. I would recommend this product as a solution to low ring-voltage issues in your household application.

It never worked! I bought it to boost the REN in order for my Western Elect ringer box to work/ring.It did nothing, I understand there are other units out there, RG10A Viking is one I my try at some point.

Works with an ooma and Cortelco Desk Phone, Black (250000-VBA-20M) setup! Without this item you could barely hear the phone ring, but now it’s as loud as it’s supposed to be.
